How can the envious person cure himself of this chronic ailment?
In order for the envious person to rid himself of this chronic ailment,
he must follow two paths: one theoretical and the other practical.
As for the theoretical path,
it is to learn and truly understand the meaning of divine decree and predestination.
This involves deepening one's understanding of the beautiful names of Allah and His exalted attributes related to this matter,
such as the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing, and the All-Wise.
Through this, he will realize the reality of Allah’s power and His effective will in granting or withholding,
His perfect knowledge of what every human being deserves,
and His profound wisdom in that regard.
As for the practical path,
it is to treat the desire to envy through beneficial action.
This is done by compelling oneself to act in opposition to one's base impulses.
If envy drives him to desire to disparage the one he envies,
he should strive to praise and commend him instead of criticizing and reviling him.
And if he finds arrogance within himself,
he must compel himself to be humble and pray for the one he was inclined to envy,
while exerting effort to bring good to him and ward off evil from him.
