In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
A Summary of the Prophetic biography.
Proclaiming the call to Islam.
Then, the following words of Allah were revealed to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him:
"And..."
And the following words of Allah were revealed to him, peace be upon him:
“So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters.” (15:94)
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said:
Then it was revealed to him, peace be upon him:
“So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters.” (15:94)
So, the Prophet, peace be upon him, proclaimed the call and openly declared it to his people.
Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said:
There was no one among the Banu Hashim at that time
who possessed more faith, certainty, and belief in the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
than Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.
For this reason, they were the first to commit to what the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, requested of them.
Then, after this—and Allah knows best—
came his calling the people openly upon Mount Safa,
and his warning to the clans of Quraysh, both generally and specifically,
until he named those he named among his uncles, aunts, and daughters,
to use the lesser example to alert them to the greater reality,
meaning: "I am only a warner."
And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.
The two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) narrated in their Sahih collections,
with the wording belonging to Muslim,
from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said:
When this verse was revealed:
"And warn your closest kindred,"
and those among them who are sincere,
the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, went out until he ascended Mount Safa.
He cried out, "Ya sabahah!" (a call of alarm).
They asked, "Who is this calling out?"
They said, "It is Muhammad."
So they gathered around him.
He said:
"O Banu Fulan!"
"O Banu Fulan!"
"O Banu Fulan!"
"O Banu Abd Manaf!"
"O Banu Abd al-Muttalib!"
They gathered around him.
He said:
"What do you think? If I were to tell you that cavalry were emerging from the foot of this mountain,
would you believe me?"
They replied, "We have never known you to tell a lie."
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
"Then I am a warner to you before a severe punishment."
The two Shaykhs narrated in their Sahih collections,
from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stood up when Allah revealed:
"And warn your closest kindred."
He said:
"O assembly of Quraysh!
Save yourselves!
I cannot avail you anything against Allah."
"O Banu Abd Manaf!
I cannot avail you anything against Allah."
"O Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib!
I cannot avail you anything against Allah."
"And O Safiyyah, aunt of the Messenger of Allah!
I cannot avail you anything against Allah."
"And O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad!
Ask me for whatever you wish from my wealth,
but I cannot avail you anything against Allah."
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, clarified to those closest to him
that belief in this message
is the lifeblood of the connection between him and them,
and that the tribal partisanship upon which the Arabs relied
dissolved in the heat of this warning coming from Allah.

If the longing of the worlds for one another grows long,
the longing for you, O Messenger, has no limit.
