A summary of the Tafsir of al-Tabari.

Surah al-Kawthar.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.
So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone].
“Lo! it is thy insulter (and not thou) who is without posterity.” (108:3)
We have granted you, O Muhammad, al-Kawthar.
It is the name of the river that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has been given in Paradise.
Allah described it with abundance due to its immense significance.
Therefore, dedicate all your prayer to your Lord, sincerely, excluding anything else, such as rivals or false deities.
Likewise, perform your sacrifice.
Dedicate it to Him alone, not to idols.
[Do this] in gratitude to Him for the honor and goodness He has bestowed upon you, which has no equal and which He has singled you out to receive.
Among these is His granting you al-Kawthar.
Indeed, the one who hates you, O Muhammad, and your enemy, is the one who is truly diminished and disgraced.
He is the one whose lineage is severed and who has no legacy.
