He was the imam of the Basra Mosque for years
Abu Hatim Al-Sijistani said about him
He is the most knowledgeable of the letters and differences in the Qur’an I have ever seen

Ibn Abi Hatim said
Ahmed bin Hanbal was asked about him and he said

I have disbelieved in what you associated with me before
The wrongdoers will have a painful punishment
And enter those who believe
And do good deeds, gardens flowing
Underneath are rivers
They will abide therein, by the permission of their Lord

Perhaps you remember
So they fled to God
I am a clear warner to you from him
And do not make another god with God

Likewise, no messenger came to those before them
Unless they say a magician or a magician
Contact him
Rather, they are a greedy people
So turn away from them, and you are not to blame
And remember, for remembrance benefits the believers
And I did not create the jinn and mankind
Except to worship Me
What sustenance I want from them
And I don't want them to feed me
God is the Sustainer of Power and Power
For those who wronged have sins like the sins of their companions
So don't rush me
So woe to those who disbelieve from the day they were promised
May God reward our Imams with good deeds
