A Verse and Its Tafsir.
Allah Almighty said:
"And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, 'Evil is that which you have done in my place after me!'"
When Moses returned from the appointed meeting with his Lord,
he found his people worshiping the calf besides Allah.
So he, peace be upon him, became angry,
and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, had already been angered before that,
informing us of this when He said:
“Lo! Those who chose the calf (for worship), terror from their Lord and humiliation will come upon them in the life of the world. Thus do We requite those who invent a lie.” (7:152)
"And thus do We recompense the fabricators."
Then Allah opened the doors in the next verse to whoever wished to repent,
even from among those idolaters,
and so He said:
“But those who do ill-deeds and afterward repent and believe - lo! for them, afterward, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (7:153)
"Indeed, your Lord thereafter is Forgiving and Merciful."
So what do you think, O servants of Allah,
of a Muslim who proclaims that there is no god but Allah,
and then disobeys Allah through some act of sin?
Is he not even more worthy of the glad tidings of acceptance if he repents and turns back to Allah?
Yes, indeed, by Allah!
For from the frail servant comes remorse, seeking forgiveness, and repentance,
and from the Generous Lord comes pleasure, pardon, and mercy:
“But those who do ill-deeds and afterward repent and believe - lo! for them, afterward, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (7:153)
"Indeed, your Lord thereafter is Forgiving and Merciful."
