In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The types of men In the hadith of Umm Zar' Did Umm Zar' ask her husband for a divorce? Umm Zar's brief summary of her divorce story This prompted some people to look for the real underlying cause of the divorce. Why was anyone who reflected upon the hadith left unconvinced? In short, the sole reason for the divorce was simply what Umm Zar' described. He married another woman alongside her and divorced her for a number of reasons. Among these reasons is that the pre-Islamic Arabs were known for practicing polygyny. Thus, it is no surprise that Abu Zar' would marry more than one wife. Among them is that a man lacks neither wealth nor the means to marry. What, then, makes him resort directly to divorce? Furthermore, we learn from this that it is in the very nature of a woman. To conceal certain facts when it seeks to defend itself By altering certain facts, or at the very least, concealing them. We have already seen examples of this in a previous episode. What, then, was the real reason for her divorce? First of all, Umm Zar' is no different from any other woman in the world. On the dislikeability of a husband taking an additional wife over his current spouse This aversion is innate in women. A woman naturally loves to have her husband all to herself. And the fire of jealousy was boiling in her heart. when she learns that he has taken another wife. This natural, innate aversion is different from hating Allah's ruling on the permissibility of polygyny. Thus, she incurs no sin for it. unlike those who despise the ruling of Allah. This is something that could indeed end up happening. until her good deeds are rendered null and void, and she enters the Fire. Allah the Almighty said: “That is because they are averse to that which Allah hath revealed, therefor maketh He their actions fruitless.” (47:9) So He rendered their deeds worthless. Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Meaning, they do not want him, nor do they like him. so He nullified their deeds. So it is no surprise that Umm Zar' would dislike that her husband would marry another woman in addition to her. Secondly, what is expected of a woman if her husband marries another woman, to react negatively to his marriage. This reaction, varies from one woman to another. according to a woman's faith and her attachment and the intensity of her love for her husband. This reaction, then, It has several forms. This includes a complete rejection of the topic. This may lead her to... either to demand by divorcing this wife. or by her divorce. Among them is intense grief. and the husband's unwillingness to accept it. and described him as treacherous. Among them are sadness and pain. with contentment with Allah's decree and destiny. Then, striving to calm the soul. in a way that pleases Allah. and other such actions. The first scenario is contrary to Islamic law. forbidden. On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He said, "It is not permissible for a woman..." seeks the divorce of her sister. to empty her page. For she will only receive what has been decreed for her. Narrated by Al-Bukhari. Ibn Battal, may Allah have mercy on him, said: It contains a prohibition for women and the severe warning against it. Should she not ask for the divorce of her sister? and to be content with what Allah has allotted her. Ibn Hajar, may Allah have mercy on him, said: His statement, "It is not permissible..." apparent in prohibiting that. So it is not permissible for her that she stipulates to her husband to divorce his second wife. if he wants it returned to him. or remain with him. Similarly, a prohibition has been reported. about seeking divorce. without a valid legal reason. On the authority of Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, He said, The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: Any woman She asked her husband for a divorce. without any harm. so it is forbidden for her. the fragrance of Paradise Narrated by Abu Dawud. Ibn Hajar, may Allah have mercy on him, said: And in it is that The reports that have been transmitted warning against A woman who seeks divorce her husband, Hamula. on what would happen if it were not This is based on the hadith. Thawban and a man marrying another woman while already married, does not permit her to seek a divorce. And it is not considered among The legitimate reasons that permit for divorce. Ibn 'Uthaymin, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Even if the first one were to rise up against him.
