I am a Companion from Abyssinia.
I used to tend sheep for a Jewish man.
So, I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
while he was besieging some of the fortresses of Khaybar.
I said, "O Messenger of Allah,
explain Islam to me."
He explained it to me, and I embraced Islam.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
never belittled anyone among the people.
I said, "O Messenger of Allah,
I am a hired servant of the owner of these sheep,
and they are a trust in my care.
What should I do with them?"
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, replied,
"Strike their faces with pebbles,
and they will return to their owner."
So I stood up, took a handful of dust,
and threw it in their faces,
saying, "Return to your owner!"
They returned together as if driven by a herder,
until they entered the fortress.
Then I left my place
and advanced toward that fortress
to fight alongside the Muslims.
A stone struck me and killed me,
though I had never performed a single prayer.
So I was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
and placed behind him,
covered with a piece of cloth I was wearing.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, turned toward me,
accompanied by a group of his Companions.
Then he quickly turned his face away from me.
They asked, "O Messenger of Allah,
why did you turn away from him?"
He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, replied,
"He is now accompanied by two of his wives from the fair maidens of Paradise (Houris)."
