00:26:39.240 --> 00:26:43.240 then I dismounted, took his head, his spoils, and his horse, 00:26:43.240 --> 00:26:47.240 and brought them to the Prophet (peace be upon him). 00:26:47.240 --> 00:26:49.240 He was pleased with that, 00:26:49.240 --> 00:26:51.240 supplicated for me, and said, 00:26:51.240 --> 00:26:53.240 "May Allah be pleased with you! 00:26:53.240 --> 00:26:55.240 May Allah be pleased with you!" 00:26:55.240 --> 00:26:57.240 And he granted me his spoils. 00:26:57.240 --> 00:27:02.009 Later, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) intended 00:27:02.009 --> 00:27:04.009 to march for the Conquest of Mecca, 00:27:04.009 --> 00:27:09.009 I was overcome with fear for my family who were still there. 00:27:09.009 --> 00:27:13.009 So I secretly dispatched a letter to the Quraysh 00:27:13.009 --> 00:27:15.009 carried by a polytheist woman, 00:27:15.009 --> 00:27:19.009 informing them of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) resolve 00:27:19.009 --> 00:27:22.170 to march for the Conquest of Mecca. 00:27:22.170 --> 00:27:25.170 But Allah informed His Prophet of that, 00:27:25.170 --> 00:27:28.170 so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) summoned 00:27:28.170 --> 00:27:31.170 'Ali, al-Zubayr, and al-Miqdad, 00:27:31.170 --> 00:27:33.170 and said to them: 00:27:33.170 --> 00:27:38.170 "Go until you overtake a woman at Rawdat Khakh; 00:27:38.170 --> 00:27:41.170 she has a letter intended for Quraysh, 00:27:41.170 --> 00:27:43.329 so bring it to me." 00:27:43.329 --> 00:27:49.329 They set out until they intercepted her just where the Prophet (peace be upon him) had told them. 00:27:49.329 --> 00:27:51.329 They demanded the letter from her, 00:27:51.329 --> 00:27:53.329 but she denied having it. 00:27:53.329 --> 00:27:56.329 Thereupon, 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to her: 00:27:56.329 --> 00:27:59.329 "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah did not lie! 00:27:59.329 --> 00:28:01.329 You will either produce the letter, 00:28:01.329 --> 00:28:04.329 or we will strip off your garments." 00:28:04.329 --> 00:28:06.390 When she saw their resolve, 00:28:06.390 --> 00:28:08.390 she said to them, 00:28:08.390 --> 00:28:09.390 "Turn away." 00:28:09.390 --> 00:28:11.390 She then untied her braids 00:28:11.390 --> 00:28:14.390 and took it out from within her hair. 00:28:14.390 --> 00:28:19.490 They brought the letter to the Prophet (peace be upon him), 00:28:19.490 --> 00:28:23.619 and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) summoned me 00:28:23.619 --> 00:28:24.619 and said, 00:28:24.619 --> 00:28:27.619 "What prompted you to do this?" 00:28:27.619 --> 00:28:28.619 I said, 00:28:28.619 --> 00:28:30.619 "O Messenger of Allah, 00:28:30.619 --> 00:28:32.619 do not be hasty with me. 00:28:32.619 --> 00:28:34.619 By Allah, I did not do this 00:28:34.619 --> 00:28:36.619 out of disbelief or apostasy, 00:28:36.619 --> 00:28:40.619 nor out of choosing disbelief after having embraced Islam. 00:28:40.619 --> 00:28:44.619 Rather, I have children and relatives in Mecca, 00:28:44.619 --> 00:28:48.619 and I was a stranger among you without tribal backing among the Quraysh, 00:28:48.619 --> 00:28:51.619 so I wanted to do them a favor 00:28:51.619 --> 00:28:54.619 so that they might protect my children and kin." 00:28:54.619 --> 00:28:57.710 Thereupon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said 00:28:57.710 --> 00:28:59.710 to his Companions, 00:28:59.710 --> 00:29:00.710 "He has spoken the truth to you; 00:40:17.429 --> 00:40:21.429 they married her to me without demanding proof, 00:40:21.429 --> 00:40:25.500 yet I have nothing to give them as a bridal-gift." 00:40:25.500 --> 00:40:29.500 So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) spoke to the Companions, 00:40:29.500 --> 00:40:33.500 and they collected for me the weight of a date-stone of gold, 00:40:33.500 --> 00:40:35.500 and prepared food for our wedding feast. 00:40:35.500 --> 00:40:37.500 The Ansari father-in-law exclaimed, 00:40:37.500 --> 00:40:40.500 "This is abundant and wholesome!" 00:40:40.500 --> 00:40:46.300 Later, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) granted me a piece of land, 00:40:46.300 --> 00:40:50.300 and granted Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) a piece of land. 00:40:50.300 --> 00:40:52.300 We had a dispute over the property boundary, 00:40:52.300 --> 00:40:56.300 and Abu Bakr said a word to me that I disliked; 00:40:56.300 --> 00:40:58.300 however, he immediately regretted it 00:40:58.300 --> 00:41:00.300 and said to me, 00:41:00.300 --> 00:41:02.300 "Retort with the same word to me 00:41:02.300 --> 00:41:04.300 so that it may serve as just retribution (qisas)." 00:41:04.300 --> 00:41:07.329 I said, "I will not do so." 00:41:07.329 --> 00:41:10.329 Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) then went 00:41:10.329 --> 00:41:13.329 to the Prophet (peace be upon him), 00:41:13.329 --> 00:41:15.329 and I followed after him. 00:41:15.329 --> 00:41:18.329 The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked me, 00:41:18.329 --> 00:41:20.329 "What is the matter between you and al-Siddiq?" 00:41:20.329 --> 00:41:23.329 I said, "O Messenger of Allah, 00:41:23.329 --> 00:41:26.329 such-and-such occurred, 00:41:26.329 --> 00:41:29.329 and he said a word to me that I disliked, 00:41:29.329 --> 00:41:30.329 then told me: 00:41:30.329 --> 00:41:33.329 'Say the same to me as I said to you 00:41:33.329 --> 00:41:35.329 so it may be retribution,' 00:41:35.329 --> 00:41:37.489 but I refused." 00:41:37.489 --> 00:41:40.489 The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 00:41:40.489 --> 00:41:41.489 "Indeed, 00:41:41.489 --> 00:41:43.489 do not retort to him;
