In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
A Summary of the Prophetic biography.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, placed the Black Stone with his own noble hand.
When the Quraysh reached the place of the Black Stone while rebuilding the Kaaba,
they disputed over who should have the honor of placing it.
The situation nearly escalated into war among them.
They agreed to let the first person to enter through the gate of Banu Shaybah judge between them.
Allah decreed that the first person to enter through the gate of Banu Shaybah upon them
was the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad,
and al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak with a sound (sahih) chain of narration,
with the wording belonging to al-Hakim,
on the authority of Abdullah Ibn al-Sa'ib, who said:
The Quraysh differed regarding the Stone when they intended to place it,
to the point that they were nearly fighting one another with swords.
They said,
"Appoint as an arbiter between you the first man to enter through this gate."
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, entered.
They said,
"This is the Trustworthy One (al-Amin)."
They used to call him the Trustworthy One during the pre-Islamic era.
They said, "O Muhammad,
we are satisfied with you."
He called for a garment, spread it out, and placed the Stone inside it.
Then he said to this clan and that clan,
"Let every clan among you take hold of a side of the garment."
They did so.
Then they lifted it.
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, took it,
and placed it with his own hand.
In another narration in al-Mustadrak,
and in Dala'il al-Nubuwwah by al-Bayhaqi with a good (hasan) chain of narration,
on the authority of Ali Ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
When they wanted to place the Stone,
they quarreled over who would place it.
They said,
"The first person to emerge from this gate shall place it."
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, emerged
from the direction of the gate of Banu Shaybah.
He ordered a garment to be brought and spread out,
and the Stone was placed in its center.
Then he ordered a man from every tribe of the Quraysh
to take hold of a side of the garment.
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, took it with his hand,
and placed it.
Allah protected His Messenger, peace be upon him, before his mission.
Allah, glory be to Him, guarded and shielded His Messenger, peace be upon him,
and purified him from the filth of the pre-Islamic era and from every defect.
He endowed him with every beautiful character trait,
so that he was known among his people only as the Trustworthy One,
because of what they witnessed of his purity,
the truthfulness of his speech, and his trustworthiness, peace be upon him.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said:
Then Allah made seclusion and worship of his Lord beloved to him.
He would seclude himself in the cave of Hira,
worshipping therein for a number of nights.
Idols and the religion of his people were made hateful to him,
and there was nothing more hateful to him than that.
