Allah the Almighty says:
“O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him)” (3:102)
Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Every servant will be resurrected according to the state in which he died."
Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said regarding the Tafsir of this verse:
That is, remain steadfast in Islam during your health and well-being so that you may die upon it.
For the Generous One has established His custom through His generosity:
Whoever lives upon something will die upon it.
And whoever dies upon something will be resurrected upon it.
We seek refuge in Allah from the opposite of that.
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
A good ending only occurs for one whose inner state was good.
For the moment of death cannot be feigned or fabricated.
Thus, nothing emerges at that time except what is hidden within the heart.
