The Forty Holy Hadiths from the Jewels of Divine Narrations. The miracle of the Night Journey: a source of steadfastness for the believers and a trial for the disbelievers. Narrated by 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding the hadith of the Night Journey: She said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was taken by night to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the people awoke talking about it. Recorded by Al-Hakim, and Al-Albani graded it authentic. Vocabulary of the hadith: "Al-Isra'" means traveling by night. Overall meaning: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was taken by night from Makkah to Jerusalem in a fraction of the night, people's reactions varied between those who believed and those who denied it. Thus, this miraculous event served as a consolation for the Prophet (peace be upon him), comforting him amidst the hardships and plots of his people, as well as a source of steadfastness for the sincere believers who drew strength of faith from this miracle. It was also a trial for the disbelievers who objected and turned away from the truth, and a test for those weak in faith who failed to remain firm, causing their faith to waver. The journey of the Night Journey from Makkah to Jerusalem is among the greatest miracles and most exalted signs for our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This journey indicates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was the first of his Ummah to set out on a journey to Al-Aqsa Mosque. The event of the Night Journey and Ascension represents the beginning of a new phase and a decisive historical turning point in the history and stature of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
