Ibn al-Hadrami, would appear before them, 00:01:23.269 --> 00:01:28.269 pouring into their hearts a spirit that filled them with resolve and determination, 00:01:28.269 --> 00:01:34.269 and imbuing them with a firmness and courage that ignited their zeal and boldness. 00:01:34.269 --> 00:01:39.269 He reminded them of Allah’s favor and mercy upon them in the Dahna desert, 00:01:39.269 --> Muhammad were a prophet, he would not have died." 00:02:14.400 --> 00:02:18.430 Consequently, the people of Bahrain all apostatized from their religion, 00:02:18.430 --> 00:02:21.430 and surrendered their leadership to al-Hutam Ibn Dubay'ah. 00:02:21.430 --> 00:02:24.430 Not a single person among them remained upon Islam, 00:02:24.430 --> 00:02:28.430 except for the people of one village: the village of Juwatha. 00:02:29.430 --> 00:02:32.430 As for the news of this faithful village, 00:02:32.430 --> 00:02:37.430 there was among them a man from the elite Companions of the Messenger, peace be upon him, 00:02:37.430 --> 00:02:40.430 namely al-Jarud Ibn al-Mu'alla. 00:02:40.430 --> 00:02:44.430 He had visited the Great Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:02:44.430 --> 00:02:48.430 and drank from his guidance as much as Allah willed for him to drink. 00:02:48.430 --> 00:02:50.430 Then he returned to his people, 00:02:50.430 --> 00:02:53.430 and remained among them, calling them to Allah the Almighty, 00:02:53.430 --> 00:02:56.430 and teaching them the upright religion. 00:02:56.430 --> 00:03:00.430 When he saw that his people were inclined to apostatize with the apostates, 00:03:00.430 --> 00:03:02.430 he gathered them and said: 00:03:02.430 --> 00:03:03.430 "O my people, 00:03:03.430 --> 00:03:07.430 I am going to ask you about a matter, so tell me if you know it." 00:03:07.430 --> 00:03:09.430 They said, "Ask." 00:03:09.430 --> 00:03:10.430 He said: 00:03:10.430 --> 00:03:14.430 "Do you know that Allah had prophets before Muhammad?" 00:03:14.430 --> 00:03:47.430 --> 00:03:50.430 At that, al-Hutam besieged them with his soldiers, 00:03:50.430 --> 00:03:52.430 tightened the noose around them, 00:03:52.430 --> 00:03:54.430 and cut off their food supplies, 00:03:54.430 --> 00:03:58.430 leaving them to die of hunger without war or combat. 00:03:58.430 --> 00:04:02.430 Yet that severe siege did not shake their faith. 00:04:02.430 --> 00:04:04.430 Their poet said, 00:04:04.430 --> 00:04:08.430 seeking help from al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, from afar: 00:04:08.430 --> 00:04:11.430 "Convey to Abu Bakr a complaint, 00:04:11.430 --> 00:04:14.430 and to the youth of Medina, all of us. 00:04:14.430 --> 00:04:17.430 Will you not help a noble people, 00:04:17.430 --> 00:04:20.430 sitting in Juwatha, besieged? 00:04:20.430 --> 00:04:23.430 We have placed our trust in the Most Merciful, for we 00:04:23.430 --> 00:04:26.430 have found patience for those who trust." 00:04:26.430 --> 00:04:30.430 No sooner had Al-Ala' Ibn al-Hadrami reached Bahrain 00:04:30.430 --> 00:04:34.430 than he sent a disguised messenger to Juwatha, 00:04:34.430 --> 00:04:38.430 ordering him to inform al-Jarud of the arrival of the armed himself with patience, 00:05:19.589 --> 00:05:22.589 and took every precaution and care. 00:05:22.589 --> 00:05:25.589 The two parties remained for a whole month, engaging in 00:05:25.589 --> 00:05:27.589 light skirmishes during the day, 00:05:27.589 --> 00:05:30.589 and returning to their trenches at night. 00:05:30.589 --> 00:05:34.589 Throughout this, Al-Ala' was sharp of hearing, darkness, 00:06:21.879 --> 00:06:24.879 and crossed the trenches with agility and caution. 00:06:24.879 --> 00:06:27.879 When he was inside their camp, 00:06:27.879 --> 00:06:29.879 they noticed him and captured him. 00:06:29.879 --> 00:06:31.879 At that moment, 00:06:31.879 --> 00:06:33.879 he began to cry out for help, calling: 00:06:33.879 --> 00:06:36.879 "O Abjar! O Abjar!" 00:06:36.879 --> 00:06:38.879 The Abjar he called upon 00:06:38.879 --> 00:06:40.879 was a man from the Banu 'Ijl, 00:06:40.879 --> 00:06:43.879 of high standing in al-Hutam's army. 00:06:43.879 --> 00:06:46.879 Abdullah's mother was from the 'Ijl tribe. 00:06:46.879 --> 00:06:49.879 Abjar came to him and asked about his lineage, 00:06:49.879 --> 00:06:51.879 so he identified himself and said to him: 00:06:51.879 --> 00:06:53.879 "You are my maternal uncles." 00:06:53.879 --> 00:06:55.879 He recognized him and granted him protection, 00:06:55.879 --> 00:06:57.879 and inquired about his situation. 00:06:57.879 --> 00:06:58.879 He said: 00:06:58.879 --> 00:07:00.879 "I lost my way, 00:07:00.879 --> 00:07:02.879 and landed among your soldiers, 00:07:02.879 --> 00:07:04.879 so they took me prisoner." 00:07:04.879 --> 00:07:06.879 Abjar said to him: 00:07:06.879 --> 00:07:08.879 "By Allah, I think you 00:07:09.879 --> 00:07:12.069 have come to your maternal uncles." 00:07:12.069 --> 00:07:14.069 Abdullah said to him: 00:07:14.069 --> 00:07:15.069 "Leave that aside, 00:07:15.069 --> 00:07:18.069 and feed me, for hunger has killed me." 00:07:18.069 --> 00:07:20.069 He offered him food, 00:07:20.069 --> 00:07:23.069 and he began to eat it slowly and deliberately, 00:07:23.069 --> 00:07:25.069 to learn about the state of the people, 00:07:25.069 --> 00:07:28.069 and to uncover the secrets of their news. 00:07:28.069 --> 00:07:31.069 When he had achieved what he wanted, he said: 00:07:31.069 --> 00:07:33.069 "Provide for me, give me a mount, 00:07:33.069 --> 00:07:36.069 and grant me passage until I reach my people's camp." 00:07:36.069 --> 00:07:39.069 So he provided for him, gave him a mount, 00:07:39.069 --> 00:07:43.069 and sent someone with him to escort him until he reached safety. 00:07:43.069 --> 00:07:46.139 When he arrived at the Muslim camp, 00:07:46.139 --> 00:07:49.139 he informed Al-Ala' that the people were celebrating 00:07:49.139 --> 00:07:51.139 one of their occasions, 00:07:51.139 --> 00:07:55.139 that they had scattered jars of wine everywhere, 00:07:55.139 --> 00:07:58.139 and were drinking from them greedily, 00:07:58.139 --> 00:08:01.139 until drunkenness overcame them, 00:08:01.139 --> 00:08:03.139 leaving them between sleeping, stuporous, 00:08:03.139 --> 00:08:06.139 and rowdy, not knowing what they were doing, 00:08:06.139 --> 00:08:10.139 and that his 'Ijli relative was among the latter group. 00:08:10.139 --> 00:08:14.139 Al-Ala' did not waste a single minute of time, 00:08:14.139 --> 00:08:17.139 so he sent word to al-Jarud ordering him to attack 00:08:17.139 --> 00:08:19.139 the enemies from the rear, 00:08:19.139 --> 00:08:22.139 while he himself launched his army toward them from the front, 00:08:22.139 --> 00:08:25.139 moving like arrows in the dimness of the darkness. 00:08:25.139 --> 00:08:27.139 He stormed the drunken army's 00:08:27.139 --> 00:08:30.139 fortified trenches from every side, 00:08:30.139 --> 00:08:35.139 and set his swords upon the necks of the enemy soldiers without mercy. 00:08:35.139 --> 00:08:39.139 The battle ended in a dire catastrophe for the apostate army 00:08:39.139 --> 00:08:41.139 and its leader, al-Hutam. 00:08:41.139 --> 00:08:43.139 As for the army's commander, 00:08:43.139 --> 00:08:48.139 he was asleep when the Muslims descended upon his camp like a thunderbolt, 00:08:48.139 --> 00:08:50.139 and nothing awakened him from his stupor 00:08:50.139 --> 00:08:53.139 but the clashing of swords and the thrusting of spears, 00:08:53.139 --> 00:08:55.139 and the sounds of *tahlil* and *takbir*. 00:08:55.139 --> 00:08:59.139 He jumped up in panic and mounted his horse, 00:08:59.139 --> 00:09:02.139 but the stirrup of his saddle snapped, 00:09:02.139 --> 00:09:04.139 so he began to call out: 00:09:04.139 --> 00:09:07.139 "I am al-Hutam! Who will fix my stirrup for me?" 00:09:07.139 --> 00:09:11.139 One of the Muslim soldiers approached him and said: 00:09:11.139 --> 00:09:14.139 "Raise your leg, O Commander, so I may fix it for you." 00:09:14.139 --> 00:09:16.139 When he raised his leg, 00:09:16.139 --> 00:09:20.139 he struck him with his sword and severed it from his body completely. 00:09:20.139 --> 00:09:24.139 He fell to the ground, blood gushing from him, 00:09:24.139 --> 00:09:27.139 and the pain searing his liver. 00:09:27.139 --> 00:09:32.139 At that, he began to ask everyone who passed by to finish him off, 00:09:32.139 --> 00:09:34.139 to be rid of his pain, 00:09:34.139 --> 00:09:38.139 and to escape the trampling of the feet of the defeated who were passing over him. 00:09:38.139 --> 00:09:40.139 He remained in this state 00:09:40.139 --> 00:09:43.139 until one of the Muslim soldiers killed him, 00:09:43.139 --> 00:09:46.139 without knowing who he really was. 00:09:46.139 --> 00:09:48.139 As for the army, 00:09:48.139 --> 00:09:52.139 it suffered a crushing and terrible defeat. 00:09:52.139 --> 00:09:56.139 One group fell dead in the trenches they had dug with their own hands, 00:09:56.139 --> 00:09:58.139 which became their graves, 00:09:58.139 --> 00:10:01.139 and another group was taken prisoner by the Muslims. 00:10:01.139 --> 00:10:04.139 However, the bulk of the army 00:10:04.139 --> 00:10:07.139 fled to the ships anchored on the shores, 00:10:07.139 --> 00:10:11.139 and turned their backs, escaping to the island of Darin. 00:10:11.139 --> 00:10:15.200 Al-Ala' Ibn al-Hadrami had liberated Bahrain, 00:10:15.200 --> 00:10:17.200 and restored it to the fold of Islam. 00:10:17.200 --> 00:10:24.200 But do you think that a hero and mujahid like him could ever rest, 00:10:24.200 --> 00:10:26.200 Nor can he close his eyes in sleep, 00:10:26.200 --> 00:10:30.200 as long as the apostates roam freely and securely in his vicinity, 00:10:30.200 --> 00:10:33.200 entrenched on the island of Darin.
