Lo! our father is in plain aberration.” (12:8) 00:00:39.079 --> 00:00:41.079 Then came their lying to their father, 00:00:41.079 --> 00:00:44.079 and their deception to take Yusuf with them. 00:00:44.079 --> 00:00:49.079 Then they forcibly took Yusuf’s shirt to use it in another crime. 00:00:49.079 --> 00:00:52.079 Then they cast Yusuf into the well, 00:00:52.079 --> 00:00:54.079 exposing him to the danger of death. 00:00:54.079 --> 00:00:58.079 They followed this up with repeated lies. 00:00:58.079 --> 00:01:05.079 They feigned tears hypocritically to sell their fabricated story about a wolf killing their brother, 00:01:05.079 --> 00:01:09.109 and lied by smearing blood on Yusuf’s shirt. 00:01:09.109 --> 00:01:12.109 Similarly, take the sin of adultery, for instance. 00:01:12.109 --> 00:01:17.109 It is preceded by the sin of forbidden gazing and all the other precursors to adultery. 00:01:17.109 --> 00:01:22.109 It is often accompanied by the consumption of alcohol and drugs, 00:01:22.109 --> 00:01:26.109 and by deception and lying to conceal that sin. 00:01:26.109 --> 00:01:31.109 A person might even resort to theft to obtain the money needed to commit it. 00:01:31.109 --> 00:01:34.109 A pregnancy may result from it, 00:01:34.109 --> 00:01:39.109 leading the woman, alone or with her partner, to seek to get rid of the fetus and kill it. 00:01:39.109 --> 00:01:45.109 Or, if their affair is exposed, they might eliminate whoever discovered and revealed it. 00:01:45.109 --> 00:01:47.109 And so on, it continues. 00:01:47.109 --> 00:01:52.370 Thus, a sin rarely stops at the point of its initial commission. 00:01:52.370 --> 00:01:57.370 Another ill effect of sin is that when a person commits it for the first time, 00:01:57.370 --> 00:02:02.370 they feel a sense of unease and their conscience pricks them for doing it. 00:02:02.370 --> 00:02:07.370 Yet, it is not long before they repeat it a second and third time, 00:02:07.370 --> 00:02:10.370 until they become accustomed to it and their internal rejection of it fades away. 00:02:10.370 --> 00:02:15.370 Then, their attachment to it intensifies until it becomes difficult for them to abandon it.
