Forty hadiths on the virtues of charity.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Indeed, among the deeds and good works that continue to reach the believer after his death are:
Knowledge that he spread;
A righteous child whom he left behind;
A copy of the Qur'an that he bequeathed;
A mosque that he built;
A house that he built for the wayfarer;
A river that he caused to flow;
Or charity that he gave from his wealth during his health and lifetime,
Which reaches him after his death."
