The essence of the concepts of Ahl al-Sunnah
Seeking guidance
The sincere caller strives for the means of guidance and knowledge of the truth with its evidence.
And struggles with the self to accept it and submit to it after knowing it.
And guidance is of two types.
First,
Guidance of instruction and clarification.
This is what is meant in Allah's saying:
"But as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance."
And this type of guidance is achieved through knowledge of the Book and the Sunnah, and insight into the religion by understanding the righteous salaf.
Second,
Guidance of success and submission.
This is what is intended in Allah's saying:
“Lo! thou (O Muhammad) guidest not whom thou lovest, but Allah guideth whom He will. And He is Best Aware of those who walk aright.” (28:56)
And this is achieved by Allah's success for His servant who deserves it.
And the servant is sincere in desiring this guidance, so he turns to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, in seeking it.
Just as it is part of the concept of seeking guidance
not to be merely guided,
but to be a leader in this guidance,
pointing to it and guiding others to it.
As Allah the Almighty described the servants of the Most Merciful by saying:
"And make us an example for the righteous."
