A new challenge: who am I?
I am among the Companions, a leader from among the leaders of Makkah.
And he was a leader among their leaders.
I am a horseman and a military commander.
I became renowned for my genius in planning and warfare.
And my proficiency in leading armies.
For he led more than a hundred battles.
I was not defeated in any of them.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, gave me a title.
The drawn sword of Allah.
She embraced Islam after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.
This is because the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
When he entered Makkah for the 'Umrat al-Qada'.
I was absent and did not witness his entry.
And my brother was with him.
My brother looked for me but could not find me.
He then wrote me a letter in which he stated:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
To proceed:
For I have never seen anything more astonishing than your opinion drifting away from Islam.
And your intellect, guard your intellect.
And the example of Islam is not something that anyone is ignorant of.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, asked me about you.
So I said, "Allah will bring it about."
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
Someone like him cannot be ignorant of Islam.
Even if he had directed his efforts and his intensity toward the Muslims.
It would have been better for him.
And we have indeed preferred it over others.
Therefore, my brother, make amends for the righteous opportunities you have missed.
When his letter reached me, I felt energized to set out.
And it increased my desire for Islam.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, asked about me.
I then migrated as a Muslim in the eighth year of the Hijra.
Before the conquest of Makkah
She also participated in the military expeditions thereafter.
I witnessed the Battle of Mu'tah only a few months after I had embraced Islam.
And I was a soldier in the army.
When the three commanders appointed by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, were martyred
And the army remained without a commander.
They chose me to be their leader.
Then he took up the banner.
And I charged against the enemy.
And on that day, nine swords were shattered in my hand.
Until the withdrawal was successfully completed.
And Allah preserved the Muslims.
And he fought against the people of apostasy.
And Musaylimah the Liar.
And I participated in the military campaign in Iraq.
I witnessed the wars in the Levant alongside the Muslims, serving both as a commander and as a soldier.
And I passed away while lying on my bed in Homs.
The year 21 after the Hijrah.
So I said before I die
I witnessed over two hundred expeditions.
...and there is no part of my body, even a span,
...unless it has a blow from a sword or a shot from an arrow.
or a stab with a spear
And here I am, dying in my bed, meeting my end naturally.
Just as a camel dies
Thus, may the eyes of the cowards never find rest.
