Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings.” (54:18) 00:03:04.219 --> 00:03:07.219 My punishment and My warnings. 00:03:07.219 --> 00:03:10.659 The people of 'Ad also denied their prophet, Hud, peace be upon him. 00:03:10.659 --> 00:03:13.659 So observe how My punishment was for them. 00:03:13.659 --> 00:03:16.659 And My warning, by what I did to them. 00:03:16.659 --> 00:03:20.370 For whoever follows their path. 00:03:20.370 --> 00:03:23.370 We sent upon them. 00:03:23.370 --> 00:03:26.370 “Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity,” (54:19) 00:03:26.370 --> 00:03:29.370 Continuous. 00:03:29.370 --> 00:03:32.819 We sent upon 'Ad. 00:03:32.819 --> 00:03:35.819 When they persisted in their tyranny. 00:03:35.819 --> 00:03:38.819 A wind, fiercely cold and violent. 00:03:38.819 --> 00:03:41.819 And its sound had a screeching noise. 00:03:41.819 --> 00:03:44.819 On a day of evil and misfortune for them. 00:03:44.819 --> 00:03:47.819 The affliction and punishment continued for them therein. 00:03:47.819 --> 00:03:51.300 Until it brought them to Hell. 00:04:00.300 --> 00:04:03.300 We have made the Qur'an easy for remembrance. 00:04:03.300 --> 00:04:06.300 So is there any who will remember? 00:04:06.300 --> 00:04:09.939 It would uproot the people and then throw them. 00:04:09.939 --> 00:04:12.939 Upon their heads, so their necks would break. 00:04:12.939 --> 00:04:15.939 And be severed from their bodies. 00:04:15.939 --> 00:04:18.939 Leaving them like trunks of palm trees. 00:04:18.939 --> 00:04:21.939 Uprooted, because their heads. 00:04:21.939 --> 00:04:24.939 Were severed from their bodies. 00:04:24.939 --> 00:04:27.939 Their necks would vanish, and they would remain. 00:04:27.939 --> 00:04:30.939 So observe how My punishment was for the people of 'Ad. 00:04:30.939 --> 00:04:33.939 When they disbelieved in their Lord. 00:04:33.939 --> 00:04:36.939 How was My warning to them, as I warned others? 00:04:36.939 --> 00:04:39.939 We have made the Qur'an easy and simplified it. 00:04:39.939 --> 00:04:43.800 So is there any who will take heed? 00:04:43.800 --> 00:04:46.800 Thamud denied the warnings. 00:04:46.800 --> 00:04:49.800 They said, "Is it a human being from among us?" 00:04:49.800 --> 00:04:52.800 "A single one, whom we should follow?" 00:04:52.800 --> 00:04:55.800 “For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness.” (54:24) 00:04:55.800 --> 00:04:59.220 Thamud, the people of Salih, peace be upon him, denied. 00:04:59.220 --> 00:05:02.220 The warnings of Allah that came to them from Him. 00:05:02.220 --> 00:05:05.220 They said, in denial of Salih. 00:05:05.220 --> 00:05:08.220 "Shall we follow a human being from among us?" 00:05:08.220 --> 00:05:11.220 "We are a large group, and he is but one." 00:05:11.220 --> 00:05:14.220 "We would then, by following Salih." 00:05:14.220 --> 00:05:17.220 "Be in error and far from the truth." 00:05:17.220 --> 00:05:21.139 And in madness and hardship. 00:05:21.139 --> 00:05:24.139 “Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar.” (54:25) 00:05:27.139 --> 00:05:30.139 “(Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar.” (54:26) 00:05:30.139 --> 00:05:33.560 "Has the revelation been sent down to him?" 00:05:33.560 --> 00:05:36.560 "And has he been singled out with prophethood from among us?" 00:05:36.560 --> 00:05:39.560 "While he is but one of us." 00:05:39.560 --> 00:05:42.560 In their denial that Allah would send. 00:05:42.560 --> 00:05:45.560 A messenger from the children of Adam. 00:05:45.560 --> 00:05:48.660 "Rather, he is a liar, full of arrogance and pride." 00:05:48.660 --> 00:05:51.660 Allah said to them. 00:05:51.660 --> 00:05:55.709 "Tomorrow they will know who is the great liar." 00:06:04.259 --> 00:06:07.259 We will send the she-camel that. 00:06:07.259 --> 00:06:10.259 Thamud asked Salih to bring forth from the rock. 00:06:10.259 --> 00:06:13.259 Which they asked him to produce as a sign for them. 00:06:13.259 --> 00:06:16.259 And a proof for Salih regarding the truth. 00:06:16.259 --> 00:06:19.259 Of his prophethood, as a trial and a test for them. 00:06:19.259 --> 00:06:22.259 So wait for them and observe what they are. 00:06:22.259 --> 00:06:26.120 Going to do with it. 00:06:35.600 --> 00:06:38.600 Tell them that the water is to be shared between them. 00:06:38.600 --> 00:06:41.600 On the day of the she-camel's turn. 00:06:41.600 --> 00:06:44.600 They would take their turns and drink from it on that day. 00:06:44.600 --> 00:06:47.600 Each share of water on the day of the she-camel's turn. 00:06:47.600 --> 00:06:50.600 And the milk on the day of its arrival. 00:06:50.600 --> 00:06:53.600 Present, they would be present for it. 00:06:53.600 --> 00:06:56.600 They would attend the water when it was its turn. 00:06:56.600 --> 00:07:00.370 And when it came, the milk would be present. 00:07:07.370 --> 00:07:10.939 Then Thamud called their companion, the one who hamstrung the she-camel. 00:07:10.939 --> 00:07:13.939 Qudar ibn Salif, to hamstring the she-camel. 00:07:13.939 --> 00:07:16.939 He reached for the she-camel with his hand. 00:07:16.939 --> 00:07:19.939 And he hamstrung it. 00:07:19.939 --> 00:07:22.939 I took My vengeance upon them when I punished them. 00:07:22.939 --> 00:07:25.939 And how was My warning to those I warned among the nations. 00:07:25.939 --> 00:07:28.939 After them, by what I did to them. 00:07:28.939 --> 00:07:32.550 And the punishment I brought upon them. 00:07:33.550 --> 00:07:36.550 So the blast seized those who hamstrung the she-camel. 00:07:36.550 --> 00:07:39.550 From among Thamud, which destroyed them. 00:07:39.550 --> 00:07:42.550 They were destroyed by the blast. 00:07:42.550 --> 00:07:45.550 After they had been alive and watching. 00:07:45.550 --> 00:07:49.060 Like dry branches that a builder uses for a fence. 00:07:49.060 --> 00:07:52.060 And it has fallen. 00:07:52.060 --> 00:07:55.060 And despite that. 00:07:55.060 --> 00:07:58.060 And despite that. 00:07:58.060 --> 00:08:01.060 And despite that. 00:08:01.060 --> 00:08:04.189 “The folk of Lot rejected warnings.” (54:33) 00:08:04.189 --> 00:08:07.189 We sent upon them a storm of stones. 00:08:07.189 --> 00:08:10.860 Except for the family of Lot, peace be upon him. 00:08:10.860 --> 00:08:13.860 We saved them at dawn. 00:08:13.860 --> 00:08:17.089 As a favor from Us. 00:08:17.089 --> 00:08:20.089 “As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks.” (54:35) 00:08:20.089 --> 00:08:23.089 We reward those who are grateful. 00:08:23.089 --> 00:08:26.089 We reward those who are grateful. 00:08:26.089 --> 00:08:29.089 We reward those who are grateful. 00:08:29.089 --> 00:08:32.090 The people of Lot denied the signs of Allah. 00:08:32.090 --> 00:08:35.629 Which He warned them with and reminded them of. 00:08:35.629 --> 00:08:38.629 We sent upon them a storm of stones. 00:08:38.629 --> 00:08:41.629 Except for the family of Lot, who believed. 00:08:41.629 --> 00:08:44.629 We saved them from the punishment at dawn. 00:08:44.629 --> 00:08:47.629 We saved them from the punishment. 00:08:47.629 --> 00:08:50.730 By a favor from Us. 00:08:50.730 --> 00:08:53.730 Which We bestowed upon Lot and his family. 00:08:53.730 --> 00:08:56.730 And as an honor with which We honored them. 00:08:56.730 --> 00:08:59.730 And just as We rewarded Lot and his family. 00:08:59.730 --> 00:09:02.730 And bestowed favor upon him. 00:09:02.730 --> 00:09:05.730 So do We reward those who are grateful for Our favor upon them. 00:09:05.730 --> 00:09:09.299 And he had warned them. 00:09:09.299 --> 00:09:12.299 Of Our seizing, but they disputed. 00:09:12.299 --> 00:09:15.850 The warnings. 00:09:15.850 --> 00:09:18.850 Lot had warned his people of Our seizing. 00:09:18.850 --> 00:09:21.850 But they denied his warning, out of doubt. 00:09:21.850 --> 00:09:25.330 And they sought to seduce him. 00:09:25.330 --> 00:09:28.330 Regarding his guests, so We blinded. 00:09:28.330 --> 00:09:31.330 Their eyes. 00:09:31.330 --> 00:09:34.330 So taste My punishment and My warnings. 00:09:34.330 --> 00:09:37.870 His people sought to seduce Lot. 00:09:37.870 --> 00:09:40.870 Regarding his guests who had stayed with him. 00:09:40.870 --> 00:09:43.870 When Allah willed their destruction. 00:09:43.870 --> 00:09:46.870 So We blinded their eyes until. 00:09:46.870 --> 00:09:49.870 We made them like the rest of the face. 00:09:49.870 --> 00:09:52.870 With no slit visible. 00:09:52.870 --> 00:09:55.870 O people of Lot, taste the punishment that has befallen you. 00:09:55.870 --> 00:09:58.870 And the warning with which I warned others. 00:09:58.870 --> 00:10:02.350 Among the nations, of the retribution. 00:10:02.350 --> 00:10:05.350 And they were overtaken in the early morning. 00:10:05.350 --> 00:10:08.350 By a punishment that remained. 00:10:08.350 --> 00:10:11.350 So taste My punishment and My warnings. 00:10:11.350 --> 00:10:14.350 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance. 00:10:14.350 --> 00:10:17.379 So is there any who will remember? 00:10:17.379 --> 00:10:20.960 The people of Lot were overtaken. 00:10:20.960 --> 00:10:23.960 At the break of dawn by a punishment. 00:10:23.960 --> 00:10:26.960 That remained with them until the Day of Resurrection. 00:10:26.960 --> 00:10:29.960 So taste, O people of Lot. 00:10:29.960 --> 00:10:32.960 The punishment that I have brought upon you. 00:10:32.960 --> 00:10:35.960 For your disbelief in Allah and your denial of His messenger. 00:10:35.960 --> 00:10:38.960 And My warning to you, as I warned the nations. 00:10:38.960 --> 00:10:41.960 By the punishment I sent upon you. 00:10:41.960 --> 00:10:44.960 And We have made the Qur'an easy for remembrance. 00:10:44.960 --> 00:10:48.440 For whoever wishes to remember. 00:10:48.440 --> 00:10:51.440 “And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh” (54:41) 00:10:51.440 --> 00:10:54.440 The warnings. 00:10:54.440 --> 00:10:57.440 They denied all of Our signs. 00:10:57.440 --> 00:11:00.440 So We seized them with the seizure of an Exalted. 00:11:00.440 --> 00:11:03.820 All-Powerful One. 00:11:03.820 --> 00:11:06.820 And the followers of Pharaoh and his people came. 00:11:06.820 --> 00:11:09.860 Our warning of punishment. 00:11:09.860 --> 00:11:12.860 The family of Pharaoh denied Our proofs. 00:11:12.860 --> 00:11:15.860 And Our arguments that came to them from Us. 00:11:15.860 --> 00:11:18.860 Is your disbelief in Allah a severe punishment that cannot be overcome? 00:11:18.860 --> 00:11:21.860 He is All-Powerful over what He wills. 00:11:21.860 --> 00:11:25.620 Neither incapable nor weak. 00:11:36.230 --> 00:11:39.230 Are you, O people of Quraysh, better. 00:11:39.230 --> 00:11:42.230 Than those upon whom I brought My vengeance? 00:11:42.230 --> 00:11:45.230 From the people of Noah, 'Ad, and Thamud. 00:11:45.230 --> 00:11:48.230 And the people of Lut and the family of Pharaoh. 00:11:48.230 --> 00:11:51.230 You are just like them in your disbelief in Allah, 00:11:51.230 --> 00:11:54.230 and in your rejection of His Messenger, just like some of these nations. 00:11:54.230 --> 00:11:57.230 Or do you have an immunity against the punishment of Allah? 00:11:57.230 --> 00:12:00.230 O assembly of Quraysh, the revelation has come to you regarding this, 00:12:00.230 --> 00:12:03.710 from Allah in the scriptures. 00:12:03.710 --> 00:12:06.710 “Or say they: We are a host victorious?” (54:44) 00:12:06.710 --> 00:12:09.710 The multitude will be defeated, 00:12:09.710 --> 00:12:13.379 and they will turn their backs in flight. 00:12:13.379 --> 00:12:16.379 That is, these disbelievers from Quraysh say, 00:12:16.379 --> 00:12:19.379 "We are a multitude that will be victorious" 00:12:19.379 --> 00:12:22.379 against anyone who intends us harm or evil. 00:12:22.379 --> 00:12:25.379 The multitude of the disbelievers of Quraysh will be defeated, 00:12:25.379 --> 00:12:28.379 and they will turn their backs to the believers in Allah. 00:12:28.379 --> 00:12:31.379 Then Allah fulfilled His promise to the believers, 00:12:31.379 --> 00:12:34.379 and He defeated the polytheists of Quraysh on the day of Badr. 00:12:42.700 --> 00:12:45.700 The matter is not as these polytheists claim, 00:12:45.700 --> 00:12:48.700 that they will not be resurrected after their death. 00:12:48.700 --> 00:12:51.700 Rather, the Hour is their appointed time for resurrection and punishment. 00:12:51.700 --> 00:12:54.700 And the Hour is more grievous and more bitter for them 00:12:54.700 --> 00:12:57.700 than the defeat they suffer 00:12:57.700 --> 00:13:00.700 when they encounter the believers at Badr. 00:13:03.460 --> 00:13:06.460 “Lo! the guilty are in error and madness.” (54:47) 00:13:06.460 --> 00:13:09.460 “On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell.” (54:48) 00:13:09.460 --> 00:13:12.460 upon their faces; "Taste the touch of Saqar." 00:13:12.460 --> 00:13:16.169 Indeed, the criminals are in error, 00:13:16.169 --> 00:13:19.169 away from the truth, and in a state of burning, 00:13:19.169 --> 00:13:22.169 from the intensity of the hardship and toil in falsehood. 00:13:22.169 --> 00:13:25.169 The day these criminals are dragged 00:13:25.169 --> 00:13:28.169 “On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell.” (54:48) 00:13:28.169 --> 00:13:31.779 and it is said to them, "Taste the touch of Saqar." 00:13:31.779 --> 00:13:34.779 “Lo! We have created every thing by measure.” (54:49) 00:13:34.779 --> 00:13:37.779 “And Our commandment is but one (commandment), as the twinkling of an eye.” (54:50) 00:13:37.779 --> 00:13:40.779 like the twinkling of an eye. 00:13:40.779 --> 00:13:44.379 Indeed, We have created all things 00:13:44.379 --> 00:13:47.379 according to a measure We have ordained and decreed. 00:13:47.379 --> 00:13:50.379 And Our command for a thing, 00:13:50.379 --> 00:13:53.379 when We decree it and intend 00:13:53.379 --> 00:13:56.379 for it to be, is but a single word: 00:13:56.379 --> 00:13:59.379 "Be," and it is. 00:13:59.379 --> 00:14:02.379 It is neither delayed nor repeated. 00:14:02.379 --> 00:14:05.379 So what We command comes into existence as quickly as a glance 00:14:05.379 --> 00:14:09.019 of the eye; it does not slow down nor is it delayed. 00:14:09.019 --> 00:14:12.019 And We have already destroyed those like you, 00:14:12.019 --> 00:14:15.019 so is there any who will take heed? 00:14:15.019 --> 00:14:18.019 And everything they did 00:14:18.019 --> 00:14:21.019 is in the records. 00:14:21.019 --> 00:14:24.019 And every small and great thing 00:14:24.019 --> 00:14:27.539 is written down. 00:14:27.539 --> 00:14:30.539 O assembly of Quraysh, [there were] nations of the past 00:14:30.539 --> 00:14:33.539 who were like what you are upon 00:14:33.539 --> 00:14:36.539 of disbelief in Allah and rejection of His messengers. 00:14:36.539 --> 00:14:39.539 So is there any who will take a lesson from that, 00:14:39.539 --> 00:14:42.539 or be deterred by it? 00:14:42.539 --> 00:14:45.539 And everything that those like you did, 00:14:45.539 --> 00:14:48.539 who passed away before you, 00:14:48.539 --> 00:14:51.539 is indeed in the books that have been written 00:14:51.539 --> 00:14:54.539 by the recording angels against you. 00:14:54.539 --> 00:14:57.539 Every small and great thing 00:14:57.539 --> 00:15:00.919 is recorded in the book, written down. 00:15:15.559 --> 00:15:18.559 Indeed, those who feared the punishment of Allah 00:15:18.559 --> 00:15:21.559 by obeying Him and performing His obligatory duties, 00:15:21.559 --> 00:15:24.559 and avoiding His disobedience, 00:15:24.559 --> 00:15:27.559 [will be] in gardens and a seat of truth, 00:15:27.559 --> 00:15:30.559 where there is no vain talk or sin, 00:15:30.559 --> 00:15:33.559 in the presence of a Sovereign, All-Powerful over whatever He wills. 00:15:33.559 --> 00:15:38.350 The summary from the Tafsir of al-Tabari.
