Iyas bin Muadhan Al-Ashhali, may God be pleased with him, converted to Islam
Iyas bin Muadhan, may God be pleased with him, converted to Islam
He was the first Ansar to convert to Islam at all
The story of his conversion to Islam was narrated by Imam Ahmad in Al-Musnad
Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak with a good chain of narration
On the authority of Mahmoud bin Labid, brother of Banu Abd al-Ashhal
He said when Abu Al-Haysar came
Anas bin Rafi’ of Mecca
And with him were boys from Bani Abd al-Ashhal
Among them is Iyas bin Maadhan, may God be pleased with him
They seek an alliance from the Quraish over their Khazraj people
So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, heard about them
So he came to them and sat with them
He said: Are you seeking anything better than what you have come for?
They said, "What is that?"
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
I am the Messenger of God
He sent me to the servants to call them to worship God without associating anything with Him
And a book was sent down to me
Then he mentioned Islam to them
He recited the Qur’an to them
Iyas bin Muadhan, may God be pleased with him, said
He was a young boy
What people?
This, by God, is better than what you came for
He said, so Abu Al-Haysar took a handful of the bath
So he hit Iyas bin Muadhan’s face with it, may God be pleased with him
He said, "Let us leave you."
By my life, we came for something else
Ayas remained silent
Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, stood up
So they left for the city
The Battle of Ba'ath took place between the Aws and the Khazraj
He said
Then Iyas bin Muadhan, may God be pleased with him, soon perished
Mahmoud bin Labid said
So those of my people who attended him told me when he died
They still heard him praising God and glorifying Him
And he praised and glorified Him until he died
They had no doubt that he had died as a Muslim
He sensed Islam in that council
When he heard from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, what he heard
