00:02:05.069 --> 00:02:07.069 While the foot soldier receives one share.'" 00:02:07.069 --> 00:02:13.569 The Emigrants Returning the Usufruct Gifts to the Ansar 00:02:13.569 --> 00:02:19.560 When Allah, Exalted is His Majesty, enriched the Muslims through the conquest of Khaybar, 00:02:19.560 --> 00:02:24.560 The Emigrants returned to the Ansar the usufruct gifts (*mana'ih*) that had been granted to them 00:02:24.560 --> 00:02:27.560 When they had first arrived among them in Medina. 00:02:27.560 --> 00:02:30.780 Indeed, the two Shaykhs narrated in their *Sahih*s 00:02:30.780 --> 00:02:34.780 On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 00:02:34.780 --> 00:02:38.780 "When the Emigrants arrived in Medina from Mecca, 00:02:38.780 --> 00:02:42.780 They had nothing whatsoever in their hands, 00:02:42.780 --> 00:02:46.780 While the Ansar were landowners and property holders. 00:02:46.780 --> 00:02:51.780 So the Ansar shared with them on condition that they give them the produce of their properties each year, 00:02:51.780 --> 00:02:54.780 Sparing them the labor and maintenance." 00:02:54.780 --> 00:02:57.819 Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 00:02:57.819 --> 00:03:00.819 "When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) 00:03:00.819 --> 00:03:03.819 Finished fighting the people of Khaybar 00:03:03.819 --> 00:03:05.819 And returned to Medina, 00:03:05.819 --> 00:03:10.819 The Emigrants returned to the Ansar their grants of produce." 00:03:10.819 --> 00:03:13.039 Imam an-Nawawi said: 00:03:13.039 --> 00:03:18.039 "This is proof that these were grants of usufruct fruit— 00:03:18.039 --> 00:03:20.039 That is, permitting the consumption of the fruit, 00:03:20.039 --> 00:03:23.039 Not transferring the actual ownership of the date palms themselves. 00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:26.039 For had it been a gift transferring ownership of the trees, 00:03:26.039 --> 00:03:28.039 They could not have been reclaimed, 00:03:28.039 --> 00:03:32.039 Since revoking a gift after possession has taken place is not permissible. 00:03:33.039 --> 00:03:36.039 Rather, it was merely permitted use, as we mentioned, 00:03:36.039 --> 00:03:40.039 And such permission may be revoked whenever one pleases. 00:03:40.039 --> 00:03:43.039 Yet despite this, they were never reclaimed 00:03:43.039 --> 00:03:47.039 Until the circumstances of the Emigrants eased with the conquest of Khaybar, 00:03:47.039 --> 00:03:49.039 And they became completely self-sufficient; 00:05:40.910 --> 00:05:42.910 One of them was Abu Burdah, 00:05:42.910 --> 00:05:44.910 And the other was Abu Ruhm— 00:05:44.910 --> 00:05:47.910 Either among a few, 00:05:47.910 --> 00:05:51.910 Or he said among fifty-three, 00:05:51.910 --> 00:05:54.910 Or fifty-two men of my people. 00:05:54.910 --> 00:05:56.910 We boarded a ship, 00:05:57.910 --> 00:06:01.910 But our ship carried us to the Negus in Abyssinia, 00:06:01.910 --> 00:06:05.910 Where we coincided with Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and his companions in his presence. 00:06:05.910 --> 00:06:08.910 Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 00:06:08.910 --> 00:06:11.910 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) 00:06:11.910 --> 00:06:13.910 Dispatched us here 00:06:13.910 --> 00:06:15.910 And commanded us to stay, 00:06:15.910 --> 00:06:17.910 So remain with us.' 00:06:17.910 --> 00:06:21.910 Thus we stayed with him until we all arrived together, 00:06:21.910 --> 00:06:24.910 Reaching the Prophet (peace be upon him) 00:06:25.910 --> 00:06:27.910 Just as he conquered Khaybar. 00:06:27.910 --> 00:06:29.910 So he allotted shares for us"— 00:06:29.910 --> 00:06:32.910 Or he said: "He gave us from it;
