A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
Among the characteristics of those firmly grounded in knowledge:
The scholars who are firmly grounded do not argue using falsehood.
Nor do they dispute regarding the truth.
In compliance with the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:
"I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise
for one who abandons disputation, even if he is in the right."
Narrated by Abu Dawud.
And if they differ among themselves,
they only differ in matters where disagreement is permissible.
Their disagreement is based upon evidence and the exercise of ijtihad regarding it.
This is the arguing in a manner that is best.
And it is hoped that there is mercy in such disagreement.
As for disagreement based on falsehood for the sake of prestige, status, position, or wealth,
it is a curse and a calamity, and there is no mercy in it.
