Lo! Make me to establish proper worship, and some of my posterity (also); our Lord! and accept my prayer.” (14:40) 00:03:04.930 --> 00:03:08.580 "Our Lord, and accept my supplication." 00:03:08.580 --> 00:03:11.939 This is the character of the righteous servants of Allah: 00:03:11.939 --> 00:03:16.259 seeking Allah’s help in raising their offspring, 00:03:16.259 --> 00:03:22.460 and not relying on themselves, their knowledge, or their experience, as some imagine. 00:03:22.460 --> 00:03:24.180 Allah the Exalted says: 00:03:24.180 --> 00:03:31.259 “And who say: Our Lord! Vouchsafe us comfort of our wives and of our offspring, and make us patterns for (all) those who ward off (evil).” (25:74) 00:03:31.259 --> 00:03:34.659 "And make us an example for the righteous." 00:03:34.659 --> 00:03:38.659 "Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured." 00:03:38.659 --> 00:03:43.169 “They will be awarded the high place forasmuch as they were steadfast, and they will meet therein with welcome and the ward of peace,” (25:75) 00:03:43.210 --> 00:03:49.770 The wife of ‘Imran feared for her daughter from the temptation of Satan for her and her offspring. 00:03:49.770 --> 00:03:54.810 So she sought refuge for her and her offspring with Allah from Satan, the accursed. 00:03:54.810 --> 00:03:57.530 Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:03:57.530 --> 00:04:04.280 She sought refuge for her with Allah the Almighty from the evil of Satan, and she sought refuge for her offspring. 00:04:04.280 --> 00:04:07.039 And Abu Zahrah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:04:07.039 --> 00:04:08.840 The meaning of seeking refuge (i‘adhah) 00:04:08.840 --> 00:04:14.159 is to be in a sanctuary from Allah the Exalted that protects her from Satan. 00:04:14.159 --> 00:04:18.120 This is because seeking refuge is a form of taking shelter. 00:04:18.120 --> 00:04:24.279 So the meaning of "I seek refuge in Allah" is "I take shelter in Him and take Him as a protector." 00:04:24.279 --> 00:04:27.879 And the meaning of "I have sought refuge for her with Allah from Satan" is: 00:04:27.879 --> 00:04:31.680 "I have made Allah the Exalted a protector for her against him." 00:04:31.680 --> 00:04:36.040 This seeking of refuge was a prayer to Allah the Exalted. 00:04:36.079 --> 00:04:39.759 Thus, this supplication was another act of worship. 00:04:39.759 --> 00:04:44.120 And so, the birth of Maryam—and her pregnancy before it—was accompanied 00:04:44.120 --> 00:04:48.920 by continuous, successive, and overlapping acts of worship, 00:04:48.920 --> 00:04:52.319 and a supplication that indicates the sincerity of the soul, 00:04:52.319 --> 00:04:55.930 and the submission of one’s face to Allah the Exalted. 00:04:55.930 --> 00:04:58.129 And today, O Muslim sister, 00:04:58.129 --> 00:05:02.689 the means of Satan to lead the children of Adam astray have multiplied, 00:05:02.689 --> 00:05:05.649 to the point that we have begun to buy the very tools of Satan 00:05:05.649 --> 00:05:09.329 with which he leads our daughters astray, using our own money, 00:05:09.329 --> 00:05:11.810 and we leave them in their hands. 00:05:11.810 --> 00:05:17.050 They cling to them more than they cling to the remembrance of Allah and prayer. 00:05:17.050 --> 00:05:22.360 These are the mobile phones connected to the internet. 00:05:22.360 --> 00:05:25.279 So, have you sought refuge for your daughter from their evil? 00:05:25.279 --> 00:05:28.480 And have you been sincere in praying for her in the unseen? 00:05:28.480 --> 00:05:33.430 That Allah may protect her from the plots of the devils among mankind and jinn? 00:05:33.430 --> 00:05:37.790 Here is a beautiful point in the words of the wife of ‘Imran: 00:05:37.790 --> 00:05:43.350 “And when she was delivered she said: My Lord! Lo! I am delivered of a female - Allah knew best of what she was delivered - the male is not as the female; and lo! I have named her Mary, and lo! I crave Thy protection for her and for her offspring from Satan the outcast.” (3:36) 00:05:43.350 --> 00:05:45.750 I would like to point it out. 00:05:45.750 --> 00:05:47.870 It is that the wife of ‘Imran 00:05:47.870 --> 00:05:52.350 was a mother according to the natural disposition (fitrah) upon which Allah created people, 00:05:52.350 --> 00:05:56.389 thinking of her daughter’s interest and her future. 00:05:56.430 --> 00:06:00.230 And among her daughter’s interests are marriage and having children. 00:06:00.230 --> 00:06:03.550 Therefore, the wife of ‘Imran prayed for her daughter Maryam 00:06:03.550 --> 00:06:07.350 for the result that every young woman desires: 00:06:07.350 --> 00:06:10.290 righteous offspring. 00:06:10.290 --> 00:06:12.449 Because of this way of thinking, 00:06:12.449 --> 00:06:17.290 she would not delay her daughter’s marriage if the right man came, 00:06:17.290 --> 00:06:19.569 under the pretext of completing her studies, 00:06:19.569 --> 00:06:23.610 obtaining a degree, and securing a future, 00:06:23.610 --> 00:06:26.529 as is the case with some selfish mothers 00:06:26.529 --> 00:06:28.209 in this day and age, 00:06:28.209 --> 00:06:32.649 who think only of their own personal interests, 00:06:32.649 --> 00:06:36.689 even at the expense of shattering their daughter’s psyche. 00:06:36.689 --> 00:06:39.569 This selfish mother does not care 00:06:39.569 --> 00:06:43.529 about what her daughter suffers due to her desire for marriage, 00:06:43.529 --> 00:06:46.250 because she is satisfied with her own husband, 00:06:46.250 --> 00:06:49.680 so she does not feel her daughter’s suffering. 00:06:49.680 --> 00:06:51.879 This selfish mother 00:06:51.879 --> 00:06:56.120 loves to boast among women about her daughter’s studies, 00:06:56.120 --> 00:07:00.639 even if it is at the expense of her mental health and misery. 00:07:00.639 --> 00:07:02.920 This selfish mother 00:07:02.920 --> 00:07:06.639 dictates to her daughter the specialization she wants, 00:07:06.639 --> 00:07:09.399 not what her daughter wants. 00:07:09.399 --> 00:07:11.800 This selfish mother 00:07:11.800 --> 00:07:15.439 puts her own interest before her daughter’s interest. 00:07:15.439 --> 00:07:19.639 She does not raise her to be prepared for married life, 00:07:19.639 --> 00:07:22.199 nor does she encourage her to do so. 00:07:22.199 --> 00:07:24.639 Rather, she makes marriage hateful to her, 00:07:24.680 --> 00:07:27.560 and makes studies and work seem attractive to her, 00:07:27.560 --> 00:07:29.600 either to boast about her, 00:07:29.600 --> 00:07:32.160 or to benefit from her money, 00:07:32.160 --> 00:07:35.839 even if that leads to the corruption of her married life 00:07:35.839 --> 00:07:38.480 should it happen in the future. 00:07:38.480 --> 00:07:40.639 This selfish mother 00:07:40.639 --> 00:07:43.600 does not care where her daughter studies, 00:07:43.600 --> 00:07:47.519 whether it is in a place where men and women mix or not. 00:07:47.519 --> 00:07:54.629 She does not care whether the specialization her daughter studies is suitable for her femininity or not. 00:07:54.629 --> 00:07:59.550 She does not care about the future workplace for this specialization, 00:07:59.550 --> 00:08:03.180 whether it is pleasing to Allah or not. 00:08:03.180 --> 00:08:05.660 Because this selfish mother 00:08:05.660 --> 00:08:09.819 does not observe the law of Allah in raising her daughter, 00:08:09.819 --> 00:08:14.459 but rather cares about boasting of her daughter in women’s gatherings 00:08:14.459 --> 00:08:16.750 and in front of the family. 00:08:16.750 --> 00:08:18.670 As for the wife of ‘Imran, 00:08:18.670 --> 00:08:21.629 she was the complete opposite of all that. 00:08:21.670 --> 00:08:25.189 And that is why the result of her prayer was: 00:08:25.189 --> 00:08:28.829 “And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found that she had food. He said: O Mary! Whence cometh unto thee this (food)? She answered: It is from Allah.
