It is narrated in an authentic hadith that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, asked for some food to eat.

They could find nothing for him but some loaves of bread, so they brought them to him.

He asked, "Do you have any condiment?"—meaning a side dish such as meat, broth, oil, or the like.
