A new challenge from me
I am an Ansar, one of the major leaders of Medina, and a master of Banu Salamah
I was the last of the Ansar to convert to Islam
When Musab bin Umair, may God be pleased with him, came as an envoy to Medina
To teach its people Islam, most of the people of Medina converted to Islam
The boys of Bani Salamah, including Moaz bin Jabal, and my sons Moaz, Moaz and Khallad
They all converted to Islam, but I did not accept Islam
As was the custom of the pre-Islamic people, the leaders and nobles used to have a special idol for themselves
They worship him in their homes, so I made an idol for myself in my house and called it Manaf
These boys were with their mother, Hind
They fear that I will die as a disbeliever even though I did not know of their Islam
I fear for them to abandon the worship of the gods and enter Islam
These fetishists resorted to a trick to show me the foolishness of my attachment to these idols
Which neither benefits nor harms
When night fell, they would enter the idol’s house
They take him and throw him into a stench of excrement, bowed on his head
If I woke up and could not find my idol, I started looking for it everywhere
And I ask my household, have you seen my God?
If I found him in that hole and saw him in that state, it would make me sad
So he took it, washed it and perfumed it, then put it back in its place
Then they go back to doing that every night
One day I entered upon my idol, Manaf
So I said, O Manaf, learn what other people want than you
Do you have any nakir?
Then I told him the sword and I said defend yourself if there is good in you
And I went out
So the boys got up, took the sword, and broke the idol
They tied him to a dead dog
They threw the force into a dry well containing dirt
When I woke up, I did not find my God
So I looked for him and found him in that well
I said, “By God, if you were a god, you would not exist.”
You and a dog are hiding in a century
I converted to Islam at that time and became a good Muslim
Before I converted to Islam, I was a generous person
Islam increased my quality, generosity and honor
If people come to me and ask me for money
I told them to take all this money
He will return tomorrow
The Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, asked
A group of my people and he said to them
Who is your master, Banu Salamah?
They said that Al-Jadd bin Qays was stingy with his money
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
What disease is worse than miserliness?
Rather, your white curly master
He pointed to me, who am I?
