Allah the Almighty says:
“Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now” (75:20)
And you neglect the Hereafter.
Zayd Ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say:
Whoever makes this world his primary concern,
Allah will scatter his affairs,
And place his poverty right before his eyes,
And he will receive nothing of this world except what has been decreed for him.
But whoever makes the Hereafter his primary concern,
Allah will gather his affairs for him,
And place his richness in his heart,
And the world will come to him, even while it is reluctant.
Malik Ibn Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
Strive against your desires,
Just as you strive against your enemies.
