I am one of the immigrant companions
From Bani Kalb, one of the Arab tribes
When I was an eight-year-old boy
I went with my mother to visit my uncles
While we are on our way near her people
The horses of Laban al-Qayyim attacked us
So they took the money and drove the camels
They captured the offspring
They took me prisoner with them
Then they sold me in Akkab market
So Hakim bin Hizam bought me for four hundred dirhams
Then he gave me a gift to his aunt, Khadija bint Quwaylid, may God be pleased with her
When the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, married her
You gave me to him
So I began to serve him, peace and blessings be upon him
Then some time passed
And people from my people performed Hajj
They saw me in Mecca
So I knew them and they knew me
Then they came back and told my father where I was
So my father and uncle went out to ransom me
They met the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
They offered him whatever ransom he wanted
He said to them, may God bless him and grant him peace
Is there something better for you than redemption?
He said what is it?
He said with a grunt
If he chooses you, he is yours without money
Even if he chooses me
By God, I am not the one who desires the one he chooses
And he said
She was fair and exaggerated in fairness
Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, called me
He told me
I am the one who taught
And I saw my company with you
And this is me, your father and your uncle
So choose me or choose them
So I said
I am not the one who chooses anyone over you
You are in my place of father and mother
My father and uncle were amazed and said:
Woe to you!
Do you choose slavery over freedom?
You choose him over your father, your uncle, and your family
I said yes
I have seen something from this man
I am never the one who chooses anyone over me
When the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, saw that from me
He took me to the stone
He shouted at the people, saying:
Hey who attended
Bear witness that this is my son
I inherit from him and he inherits from me
When my father and uncle saw that
We calmed down and left
I began to be called Ibn Muhammad
Until Islam came and prohibited adoption
The words of God Almighty were revealed
I call them to their parents
Then I began to be called my father
