In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. It is Paradise; the waters of Paradise and its rivers. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad. And upon all his family and companions. To proceed: O people of Paradise, Among your rivers in Paradise are also The Nile and the Euphrates. These two rivers spring from the root of the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha). They flow visibly across the lands of Paradise, And descend until they reach the lowest heaven, Then they descend to the earth, Where they emerge and flow within it. There are also two other rivers That spring from the root of the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, But they are hidden, Flowing within the lands of Paradise. Thus, The rivers that originate from the root of the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary Are four rivers: The Nile and the Euphrates, And two other hidden rivers. Among the rivers of Paradise are also The rivers Sayhun and Jayhun. In this world, they are rivers of Central Asia, And the Muslims of old called the lands beyond these two rivers Transoxiana (Ma Wara' al-Nahr). These two rivers have their origin in Paradise, But they changed after emerging from it, Just as the Black Stone changed. However, these two rivers, Sayhun and Jayhun, Do not spring from the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary. Therefore, The Nile and the Euphrates have superiority over them. In Paradise, there is also a magnificent river That Allah the Almighty has prepared for His Prophet, peace be upon him. Allah the Almighty said: ﴾ Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], the Kawthar. ﴿ "Al-Kawthar" is derived from "kathra" (abundance), Meaning abundant goodness. From this comes this magnificent river. The description of this river, which Allah has granted to His Prophet, peace be upon him, Is that its banks are of gold and hollowed pearls, Its bed is of pearls and rubies, Its soil is more fragrant than musk, Its water is sweeter than honey, And whiter than snow. Its vessels are distributed along its banks, numbering like the stars. Birds with necks like the necks of camels come to drink from it. It is a river that flows upon the surface of the earth, Not carving through it, But rather gliding over its surface, Then pouring into the Basin (Hawd) of the Prophet, peace be upon him. Among the rivers of Paradise is also A river called Bariq, Which is a river at the gate of Paradise, Where the martyrs sit upon it and around it, In a green dome. O people of the Gardens, Among the water sources in your gardens are also The springs. By nature, man loves the sight of water, And Allah has placed in Paradise many springs, Varying in taste, drink, and description, As Allah the Almighty said: ﴾ Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs. ﴿ And He said: ﴾ Indeed, the righteous will be amid shades and springs. ﴿ These springs are made to gush forth by the believing servants of Allah, Gushing forth wherever they wish, And they direct them however they desire. If they wish, They divert them to the blossoming orchards, Or to the lush meadows, Or between the palaces and the decorated dwellings, Or to any direction they see fit among the delightful places. Among the characteristics of these springs Is that they are flowing. Allah the Almighty said: ﴾ Within it is a flowing spring. ﴿ Meaning it flows without a channel. And Allah the Almighty also said: ﴾ And water poured out. ﴿ Meaning poured and flowing without a channel. And since the believers in Paradise are in ranks, So too is their access to the water of these springs in ranks. The two springs that flow Are for those brought near (al-Muqarrabun), And the two gushing springs Are for the companions of the right (Ashab al-Yamin). Among the springs of Paradise is also Salsabil. Allah the Almighty said: “There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil,” (76:17) “(The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil.” (76:18) This spring was named Salsabil Due to the smoothness of its flow And the ease of its course. It is powerful in its flow, And smooth in its gliding. It is also called Salsabil For its smoothness in the throat, Meaning while drinking, For it goes down with the utmost softness and ease. This spring Is the spring from which the people of Paradise drink when they first enter it. After they partake of the extra portion of the whale's liver, And then eat from the ox that grazes on the outskirts of Paradise, They drink from the spring of Salsabil thereafter. This indicates that the spring of Salsabil is among the best springs of Paradise. Among its springs is also the spring of Tasnim, About which Allah the Almighty said: “They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed,” (83:25) ﴾ The last of it is musk. ﴿ “Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss -” (83:26) And its mixture is from Tasnim. “A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink.” (83:28) O people of Paradise, You are given to drink of a sealed nectar (rahiq), Meaning the wine of Paradise. For "Rahiq" is one of the names of wine. ﴾ The last of it is musk. ﴿ Meaning it is mixed with musk. The drink is white like silver, And you seal your drink with musk. If a man from the people of this world Were to dip his finger into that musk and then withdraw it, There would not remain a single soul But would find the fragrance of that scent. And the mixture of this nectar is from Tasnim. Thus, The drink, which is the wine, Is mixed with water from the spring of Tasnim. It is the most noble and highest drink of the people of Paradise. That is why He said: ﴾ And its mixture is from Tasnim. ﴿ “A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink.” (83:28) Thus, Those brought near drink from it pure, And it is mixed for the companions of the right. As for camphor (Kafur), It may be the name of a spring in Paradise, Or it may be a description of the drink, Meaning it is like camphor in the pleasantness of its scent. This is the most likely interpretation. Allah the Almighty said: “Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur,” (76:5) ﴾ Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of camphor, ﴿ “A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly,” (76:6) ﴾ They will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. ﴿ A delicious drink of wine That has been mixed with camphor, Meaning it was mixed with it to cool it and temper its sharpness. This camphor is of the utmost delight, Having been spared every impurity Or annoyance present in the camphor of this world. They are given to drink of a nectar sealed With musk; the first of it is like the second. With a wine that is delightful to its drinker, without Any intoxication, harm, or deficiency. As for the wine of this world, this is its description: It steals the intellect of the intoxicated drinker, And it contains the ailments that are its nature, And one fears the lack of consciousness. So the Most Merciful has removed all of that From the wine in the Paradise of the Living. Their drink is from Salsabil, Mixed with camphor; That is the drink of the people of excellence. Furthermore, the digestion of their food Is a sweat that flows from their bodies, Like the fragrance of musk, which has no Mixture of any other colors. Then their stomachs return to being lean, Desiring food throughout the ages. There is no excrement, urine, or mucus, Nor spitting from the human being. They have a belch whose scent is musk, By which the digestion is perfectly completed. O Allah, grant us Paradise and its bliss. O Allah, we ask You for the highest Firdaws of Paradise, Without reckoning or punishment. O Allah, Amen. The journey has a continuation. It is Paradise.
