The Essence of the Concepts of Ahl al-Sunnah
Abandoning the fiqh of current realities leads the Ummah to ruin.
If scholars abandon understanding the reality of their Ummah, as well as leading and caring for it,
the Ummah will be ruined, relinquish its major causes, and be torn apart between two groups.
The first group consists of the people of immorality and corruption,
who push themselves forward—or are thrust forward—to lead the Ummah and take charge of its affairs,
thereby ruining the lands and misleading the people.
The second group consists of the hasty among the youth of Islamic activism,
who are enthusiastic about establishing the religion,
yet plunge themselves into issuing religious edicts regarding the Ummah's major crises out of mere emotion and zeal for the religion,
without sound knowledge or deeply rooted fiqh,
thus casting the Ummah into severe discord and great tribulation.
Both groups, despite the differences in their intentions and starting points,
share in bringing ruin and corruption upon the Ummah.
