In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
A summary of the Tafsir of al-Tabari.
Abridged by Dr. Aqil Ibn Salim al-Shammar.
Surah al-Duha.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
By the morning brightness.
And by the night when it covers with darkness.
Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased.
“And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,” (93:4)
“And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.” (93:5)
Our Lord, may His majesty be exalted, swears by the morning brightness.
Which refers to the entire day.
And by the night when it settles over its inhabitants and remains in its darkness.
Your Lord has not abandoned you, O Muhammad, nor has He detested you.
And the Hereafter, and what Allah has prepared for you therein,
Is better for you than this worldly life and all that it contains.
So do not grieve over what you have missed of it,
For what is with Allah for you is better than that.
And your Lord will surely give you, O Muhammad, in the Hereafter,
From the abundance of His favors until you are satisfied.
Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter?
And find you lost and guide you?
And find you poor and make you self-sufficient?
Did your Lord not find you, O Muhammad, an orphan?
So He provided you with a refuge to dwell in and a home to settle in.
And He found you upon a state other than that which you are upon today,
Among a people who were astray, so He guided you.
And He found you poor, so He enriched you.
“Therefor the orphan oppress not,” (93:9)
“Therefor the beggar drive not away,” (93:10)
“Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse.” (93:11)
As for the orphan, O Muhammad, do not oppress him,
By taking away his rights due to your power over him.
And as for the one who asks of you out of need, do not repel him,
But rather feed him and fulfill his need.
“Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse.” (93:11)
Meaning: remember Him.
