Allah the Exalted said:
“And of them (also) is he who saith: "Our Lord! Give unto us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and guard us from the doom of Fire."” (2:201)
“For them there is in store a goodly portion out of that which they have earned. Allah is swift at reckoning.” (2:202)
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The most frequent supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was:
"O Allah, grant us good in this world,
and good in the Hereafter,
and protect us from the torment of the Fire."
Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
"This supplication encompasses every good in this world
and diverts every evil.
Indeed, 'good in this world' includes every sought-after worldly matter,
such as well-being, a spacious home,
a good spouse, ample provision,
beneficial knowledge, righteous deeds,
a comfortable conveyance, and good praise.
As for 'good in the Hereafter,'
the highest form of that is entering Paradise,
along with its associated blessings, such as security from the Greatest Terror,
ease in the reckoning,
and other such righteous matters of the Hereafter.
As for salvation from the Fire,
it entails the facilitation of its means in this world,
by avoiding forbidden matters and sins,
and abandoning doubtful matters and the unlawful."
