In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Conclusion from Al-Tabari’s interpretation It was summarized by Dr. Aqeel bin Salem Al-Shammari Surah Al-Hijr In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Tell My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful And my torment is a painful torment Tell my servants, O Muhammad It is I who cover up their sins if they repent of them The Most Merciful to them is that I punish them after they repent I also told them that my punishment is for those who persist in sinning It is a painful torment that has no other similar torment And tell them about Abraham's guest When they entered upon him, they said hello He said, “We are of you and we fear you.” They said, “Do not be impatient. We give you good tidings of a knowledgeable boy.” Tell My servants, O Muhammad, about Abraham’s guest among the angels Those who entered upon Ibrahim Khalil al-Rahman When their Lord sent them to the people of Lot to destroy them When they came to Abraham, they said, “Peace.” Abraham said, “We are afraid of you.” The guest, Ibrahim, said, “Don’t be afraid.” We give you good news of a knowledgeable boy He said, “You gave me good news that old age has befallen me, so what do you give good news to?” They said: We have given you good tidings of the truth, so do not be one of those who are despondent He said: Who is certain of the mercy of his Lord except those who are lost? Abraham said to the angels You gave me good news that old age has affected me So what do you preach? Ibrahim's guest said to him We gave you good news of certainty He learned from us that God has given you a knowledgeable boy Do not be among those who despair of God's grace They despair of him But preach what we preached to you And before the skin Ibrahim said to the guest And who despairs of God's mercy Except for the people who have sinned from what is right They preferred this to the religion of God He said: What is the matter with you, O messengers? They said: We were sent to a criminal people Except the family of Lot. Indeed, we will save them all Except for his wife. We have destined that she is among those who will remain behind Abraham said to the angels What is the matter with you, O messengers? The angels said to him We were sent to a people who have acquired disbelief in God Except that Lot should be sold for what he owed We will not destroy them Rather, We save them from torment Except Lot's wife God decided that she was among the rest Then it is destroyed yet When the messengers came to the family of Lot He said, “You are a denial people.” They said, “Rather, we have brought to you what they were disputing about.” And we have brought you the truth, and indeed we are truthful When the messengers of God came to the family of Lot He told them We deny you, we do not know you The apostles said to him Rather, we are God's messengers We have brought to you what your people were complaining about that God’s punishment would befall them for their disbelief in Him We have brought you the certain truth from God It is torment And we are truthful in what we told you, O Lot Because God will destroy your people So flee from your family in parts of the night and follow their paths And follow their paths, and let none of you turn away, and prophesy wherever you are commanded And We decreed to him that matter, that we should turn around these people, cut off in the morning So your family escaped with the rest of the night And follow, O Lot, the paths of your people whom you led away And be behind them Walk behind them while they are in front of you And none of you will look behind him Go where God commands you We finished that matter with Lot And We revealed that the last of your people and the first of them An uprooted monster in the morning of their night The people of the city came rejoicing He said: These are my guests, so do not expose me Fear God and do not be disgraced The people of the city of Sodom came They are the people of Lot When they heard that a guest had invited Lot They were rejoicing about their arrival in their city Their desire to ride immorality Lot said to his people These people whom you came to seek immorality My guest A man has the right to honor his guest Do not disgrace me, O people, in my guest Please honor me by not letting them harm you And fear God in and in yourselves lest His punishment befall you Do not humiliate me or insult me among them They said: Did We not prohibit you from the worlds? He said, “These are my daughters, if you do.” He told his people Aren't we tired of adding anyone from the worlds? Lot said to his people They married women and had sexual intercourse with them And do not do what God has forbidden to you, namely sexual intercourse with men If you do what I command you and follow my command By your age, they are blinded in their drunkenness So the shout took them shining So We made the high therein the lowest and rained stones upon them We rained down stones of shale upon them And your life, Muhammad Your people are from Quraysh Because of their misguidance and ignorance, they hesitate Then the thunderbolt of torment seized them when the sun rose So We made the high of their land its low We rained down stones of clay on them What we did to the people of Lot For signs and connotations for observers who consider signs of God And a lesson on the consequences of the actions of those who sin and disbelieve in Him And this city The city of Sodom For a clear resident penguin The one who passes by it sees it, and there is nothing hidden from it Indeed, what we did to the people of Lot A clear sign and indication for those who believe in God To take revenge on the infidels And saving him from his torment are people of faith The owners of the gathered trees were disbelievers in God So we took revenge on them And it is the city of the people of the grove and the city of Lot A penguin they take on their travels He shows the one who has completed his integrity through him The owners of the stone lied to the messengers And We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them They would descend from the mountains into safe houses So the shout took them in the morning What they were earning did not avail them The inhabitants of Hajar lied to the messengers They are Thamud, a righteous people We showed them our evidence and arguments On the truth of what our Messenger, Salih, sent to them But they turned away from Our signs They do not consider it and do not learn from it They would descend from the mountains into homes safe from the punishment of God It was said that they were safe from destruction, lest their homes, which they had carved out of the mountains, be destroyed It was said that they were safe from death Then the cry of doom seized them when they woke up The punishment of God was not warded off from them by the evil deeds they had committed before that We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them except with truth And the Hour will come So browse the beautiful page Your Lord is the Creator, the All-Knowing We did not create all creatures Its heaven and earth And what is in them and what is between them is only justice and fairness God Almighty did not wrong any of the nations whose stories were told in this Surah And the Hour is coming So turn away from the polytheists of your people in a beautiful way He pardoned them well Your Lord is the one who created them and created everything He knows them and their plans We have given you seven of the repeated verses and the Great Qur’an And We have given you seven signs Which contradicts some of its verses Some of them follow each other with chapters separating them It may be possible that he was told two times Because the stories and news were repeated over and over again So We gave you seven verses from the Qur’an And other parts of the Qur’an Do not extend your eyes to what We have enjoyed with pairs of them Do not grieve for them and lower your wings to the believers Do not wish, O Muhammad, for what we have made of the adornments of this world A luxury item for the rich among your people Those who do not believe in God and the Last Day And do not be sad about what they enjoyed, so hasten to them In the afterlife, you will have something better than him And be on your side for those who believe in you, follow you, and follow your words And do not be harsh with them And say, “I am the clear warner.” As We revealed to those who divided Those who made the Qur’an an admonition And say, O Muhammad, to the polytheists I am the warner Who has made clear His warning to you of calamity and punishment May God bring you down For persisting in your delusion Like what God Almighty sent down of calamity and punishment On the one who divided the Book of God By disbelieving some and believing others It is permissible for me to be divided People of the Two Books The Torah and the Gospel Because they divided the Book of God So the Jews accepted some of the Torah and denied some of it And you lied about the Gospel and the Criterion Al-Nassar acknowledged some of the Gospel And you lied about some of it and the Criterion It is possible that I am referring to the polytheists from Quraysh Because it is divided into the Qur’an He called it some poetry and some fortune-telling And some legends of the first two Those who divided the Qur’an and made it into two parts And they bit him Their defamation of the Qur’an falsely They told them it was poetry and magic And so on For your sake, we will ask them all What they were working on So declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists For your sake, O Muhammad, we will certainly question those who made the Qur’an an admonition What they were doing in this world according to what We commanded them to do And while We sent you to them So he went ahead and recited the Qur’an and conveyed it to them And stop warring and fighting the polytheists of God We are sufficient for you against the mockers Those who make another god with God They will know We are sufficient for you against mockers, O Muhammad Those who mock and ridicule you Who are made partners with God in worshiping Him They will know what punishment they will face from God When they are destined to Him in the resurrection And what calamity befalls them We know that you are distressed by what they say So glorify the praise of your Lord and how many prostrate And worship your Lord until certainty comes to you We know, Muhammad You are distressed by what these polytheists say Because of their denial of you and their mockery of you And that embarrasses you So be horrified by what befalls you about something you hate from them To thank God, praise Him, and pray May God protect you from that which concerns you And worship your Lord until death comes to you Which you are sure of Conclusion from Al-Tabari’s interpretation
