Among the aesthetic beauties of the Prophetic biography (Seerah) The blessed food The hand of Allah is with the community And the community was adorned with the blessing of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him And his presence and his miracle For what we witness here is evidence of his prophethood And a proof of his truthfulness Otherwise, how could food for a small group of people Suffice for an entire army Reaching a thousand in number Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, says We were digging on the day of the Trench When a hard rock formation appeared The Prophet, peace be upon him, came, and they said This is a rock formation that has appeared in the trench He said I am descending Then he stood up, and his stomach was bound with a stone We had stayed three days without tasting any food The Prophet, peace be upon him, took the pickaxe And struck It turned into a heap of shifting sand Meaning, loose and flowing So observe He descended to participate with them and did not excuse himself He worked himself while hungry and exhausted I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Permit me to go home." I said to my wife "I saw something in the Prophet, peace be upon him, that I could not bear to see." "Do you have anything?" She said "I have some barley and a young goat." So I slaughtered the goat And she ground the barley Until we put the meat in the pot Meaning, the cooking vessel Then I came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, while the dough had risen And the pot was between the trivets Meaning, the stones set up for cooking It was nearly ready I said "A little food of mine, So come, you, O Messenger of Allah, And one or two men." He said "How much is it?" I told him He said "It is much and good." He said "Tell her not to take the pot off the fire Nor the bread from the oven Until I arrive." Then he said "Rise." So the Muhajirun and the Ansar rose Blessed food Blessed by his presence And he invited the entire army to it When he entered upon his wife He said "Woe to you, The Prophet, peace be upon him, has come With the Muhajirun and the Ansar And those who are with them." She said "Did he ask you?" And she was a wise, believing woman Who realized that the matter held a secret That no one knows Except a sent Prophet And they were commanded to follow He said "Enter, and do not crowd one another." He began Breaking the bread And placing the meat over it And covering the pot and the oven Whenever he took from it And bringing it near to his companions Then he would take And serve until they were full And there was some left over He said "Eat this and give as a gift, For the people have been struck By hunger." And here is another lesson in his humility And his distress And his ease with his companions And his feeling for others Among the hungry, may the prayers And peace be upon him And Allah is the Grantor of success Among the aesthetic beauties of the Prophetic biography (Seerah)
