A Summary of the Concepts of Ahl al-Sunnah
The most prominent affiliations that contradict the Islamic doctrine of loyalty and disavowal.
Every affiliation upon which loyalty, disavowal, love, and support are based,
except for the affiliation of Tawhid (monotheism) and faith,
is among the affiliations of Jahiliyyah (ignorance) mentioned previously.
And the most prominent of these affiliations
are Arab nationalism, Persian ethnocentrism (Shu'ubiyyah), patriotism, humanism, and so forth.
So, whoever adheres to any of these affiliations
limits his love, support, and loyalty to those who share the same affiliation,
even if they are Christians, Jews, Batinis, or atheist communists.
And conversely, he opposes those who differ with him in that affiliation,
even if they are monotheistic Muslims.
This is a clear misguidance, as we have explained.
