00:00:00.460 --> 00:00:02.459
Stories of the Prophets,

00:00:02.459 --> 00:00:05.580
Stories of the Prophets,

00:00:05.580 --> 00:00:07.580
peace be upon them.

00:00:07.580 --> 00:00:09.619
May Allah's blessings,

00:00:09.619 --> 00:00:11.619
followed by

00:00:11.619 --> 00:00:13.619
peace,

00:00:13.619 --> 00:00:15.619
be upon the best of all

00:00:15.619 --> 00:00:17.620
creation,

00:00:17.620 --> 00:00:20.129
those of firm resolve,

00:00:20.129 --> 00:00:22.129
exalted in rank

00:00:22.129 --> 00:00:24.420
and radiant light.

00:00:24.420 --> 00:00:26.420
The Story of Moses,

00:00:26.420 --> 00:00:28.420
peace be upon him.

00:00:28.420 --> 00:00:33.299
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

00:00:33.299 --> 00:00:35.329
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds,

00:00:35.329 --> 00:00:37.329
and may peace and blessings

00:00:37.329 --> 00:00:39.329
be upon our Prophet Muhammad,

00:00:39.329 --> 00:00:41.329
and upon his family and all his

00:00:41.329 --> 00:00:43.329
Companions.

00:00:43.329 --> 00:00:45.329
To proceed:

00:00:45.329 --> 00:00:47.679
Days and years passed by,

00:00:47.679 --> 00:00:49.679
and Moses, peace be upon him,

00:00:49.679 --> 00:00:51.679
grew up in an upbringing

00:00:51.679 --> 00:00:53.679
full of strength and wisdom,

00:00:53.679 --> 00:00:55.679
deeply connected to his forebears

00:00:55.679 --> 00:00:57.679
from the Children of Israel,

00:00:57.679 --> 00:00:59.679
and influenced by their upright ways.

00:00:59.679 --> 00:01:01.710
Thus, he was never convinced of Pharaoh's claims;

00:01:01.710 --> 00:01:03.710
he was never convinced that Pharaoh, in whose palace

00:01:03.710 --> 00:01:05.709
he was raised,

00:01:05.709 --> 00:01:07.709
was a lord or a deity.

00:01:07.709 --> 00:01:09.709
Nor did he drift along with the common people

00:01:09.709 --> 00:01:11.709
in their misguidance and oppression,

00:01:11.709 --> 00:01:13.709
or their worship of the tyrant

00:01:13.709 --> 00:01:15.709
Pharaoh.

00:01:15.709 --> 00:01:17.709
For this one who claimed divinity

00:01:17.709 --> 00:01:19.709
falls ill and recovers,

00:01:19.709 --> 00:01:21.709
eats and drinks,

00:01:21.709 --> 00:01:23.709
and relieves himself;

00:01:23.709 --> 00:01:25.709
so how could such a one be

00:01:25.709 --> 00:01:28.799
a deity?

00:01:28.799 --> 00:01:30.799
Moses, peace be upon him, was deeply influenced by faith,

00:01:30.799 --> 00:01:32.799
being a monotheist devoted to Allah from his youth,

00:01:32.799 --> 00:01:34.799
hating injustice

00:01:34.799 --> 00:01:36.799
and oppressors,

00:01:36.799 --> 00:01:38.799
no matter how elevated

00:01:38.799 --> 00:01:40.799
their status or how widespread their fame might be.

00:01:40.799 --> 00:01:42.799
He was compassionate

00:01:42.799 --> 00:01:44.799
toward the destitute

00:01:44.799 --> 00:01:46.799
and aided the needy,

00:01:46.799 --> 00:01:48.799
drawing upon his physical

00:01:48.799 --> 00:01:50.799
strength and his firm

00:01:50.799 --> 00:01:53.340
faith.

00:01:53.340 --> 00:01:55.340
One day,

00:01:55.340 --> 00:01:57.340
Moses entered the city at a time

00:01:57.340 --> 00:01:59.340
when people were resting—

00:01:59.340 --> 00:02:01.340
either at midday

00:02:01.340 --> 00:02:03.340
or in the middle of the night—

00:02:03.340 --> 00:02:05.340
and found two men fighting:

00:02:05.340 --> 00:02:07.340
one of them

00:02:07.340 --> 00:02:09.340
was an Israelite from his own faction,

00:02:09.340 --> 00:02:11.340
and the other was an Egyptian from among

00:02:11.340 --> 00:02:13.439
his enemies.

00:02:13.439 --> 00:02:15.439
The helpless Israelite cried out to him for help

00:02:15.439 --> 00:02:17.439
against his Egyptian foe.

00:02:17.439 --> 00:02:19.569
So Moses stepped in

00:02:19.569 --> 00:02:21.569
to push the Egyptian away,

00:02:21.569 --> 00:02:23.569
but the man refused to relent.

00:02:23.569 --> 00:02:25.569
Moses then struck him with a blow

00:02:25.569 --> 00:02:27.569
that brought about his end

00:02:27.569 --> 00:02:29.569
on the spot.

00:02:29.569 --> 00:02:31.569
Moses, peace be upon him, was

00:02:31.569 --> 00:02:33.569
extremely strong,

00:02:33.569 --> 00:02:35.569
but he had never intended to kill

00:02:35.569 --> 00:02:37.629
the Egyptian. Moses said,

00:02:37.629 --> 00:02:39.629
"This is from

00:02:39.629 --> 00:02:41.629
Satan's doing;

00:02:41.629 --> 00:02:43.629
he is the one who incited me to kill him,

00:02:43.629 --> 00:02:45.659
though unintentionally.

00:02:45.659 --> 00:02:47.659
Indeed, Satan is an enemy,

00:02:47.659 --> 00:02:49.789
a clear misleader."

00:02:49.789 --> 00:02:51.789
Then Moses turned to his Lord

00:02:51.789 --> 00:02:53.789
in penitence, saying:

00:02:53.789 --> 00:02:55.789
"My Lord, I have wronged

00:02:55.789 --> 00:02:57.789
myself by killing this man,

00:02:57.789 --> 00:02:59.819
so forgive me."

00:02:59.819 --> 00:03:01.819
And Allah answered his prayer

00:03:01.819 --> 00:03:03.819
and forgave him.

00:03:03.819 --> 00:03:05.819
Moses then made a covenant with his Lord

00:03:05.819 --> 00:03:07.819
that he would never be a helper to the criminals.

00:03:07.819 --> 00:03:10.719
After that,

00:03:10.719 --> 00:03:12.719
Moses remained in the city,

00:03:12.719 --> 00:03:14.719
fearful that his deed would be discovered,

00:03:14.719 --> 00:03:16.719
as investigations were underway

00:03:16.719 --> 00:03:18.719
to identify the killer.

00:03:18.719 --> 00:03:20.719
No one knew

00:03:20.719 --> 00:03:22.719
about this matter

00:03:22.719 --> 00:03:24.719
except Moses and the Israelite

00:03:24.719 --> 00:03:26.939
who had called upon him for help.

00:03:26.939 --> 00:03:28.939
The following day,

00:03:28.939 --> 00:03:30.939
Moses went out as usual,

00:03:30.939 --> 00:03:32.939
only to find that same Israelite companion

00:03:32.939 --> 00:03:34.939
brawling with another Egyptian.

00:03:34.939 --> 00:03:36.979
When

00:03:36.979 --> 00:03:38.979
the Israelite caught sight of Moses,

00:03:38.979 --> 00:03:40.979
he pleaded for his help once again.

00:03:40.979 --> 00:03:42.979
Moses became angry with him

00:03:42.979 --> 00:03:44.979
and said to him:

00:03:44.979 --> 00:03:46.979
"Do you get into a dispute and a fight

00:03:46.979 --> 00:03:48.979
every single day?

00:03:48.979 --> 00:03:50.979
You are truly misguided,

00:03:50.979 --> 00:03:53.099
plainly astray!"

00:03:53.099 --> 00:03:55.099
Nevertheless,

00:03:55.099 --> 00:03:57.099
Moses stepped forward to rescue

00:03:57.099 --> 00:03:59.099
the Israelite from the Egyptian's assault.

00:03:59.099 --> 00:04:01.229
But the foolish Israelite

00:04:01.229 --> 00:04:03.229
thought that Moses

00:04:03.229 --> 00:04:05.229
had come to kill him,

00:04:05.229 --> 00:04:07.229
so he panicked,

00:04:07.229 --> 00:04:09.229
divulged what was concealed,

00:04:09.229 --> 00:04:11.229
and shouted at Moses within

00:04:11.229 --> 00:04:13.229
earshot of the Egyptian:

00:04:13.229 --> 00:04:15.229
"O Moses! Do you intend

00:04:15.229 --> 00:04:17.230
“And when he would have fallen upon the man who was an enemy unto them both, he said: O Moses! Wouldst thou kill me as thou didst kill a person yesterday. Thou wouldst be nothing but a tyrant in the land, thou wouldst not be of the reformers.” (28:19)

00:04:17.230 --> 00:04:19.230
the Egyptian yesterday?

00:04:19.230 --> 00:04:21.230
Do you only intend to be a tyrant

00:04:21.230 --> 00:04:23.329
The Egyptian heard

00:04:23.329 --> 00:04:25.329
the words of his Israelite adversary,

00:04:25.329 --> 00:04:27.329
so he broke free from his grasp

00:04:27.329 --> 00:04:29.329
and hurried off

00:04:29.329 --> 00:04:31.329
to Pharaoh,

00:04:31.329 --> 00:04:33.329
informing them that Moses was the killer

00:04:33.329 --> 00:04:35.550
they had been searching for.

00:04:35.550 --> 00:04:37.550
At this point, despair fell upon

00:04:37.550 --> 00:04:39.550
the righteous servant, Moses,

00:04:39.550 --> 00:04:41.649
peace be upon him,

00:04:41.649 --> 00:04:43.649
“And morning found him in the city, fearing, vigilant, when behold! he who had appealed to him the day before cried out to him for help. Moses said unto him: Lo! thou art indeed a mere hothead.” (28:18)

00:04:43.649 --> 00:04:45.649
as he waited vigilantly, dreading when

00:04:45.649 --> 00:04:47.649
he would be seized by the wrongdoing

00:04:47.649 --> 00:04:51.149
people.

00:04:51.149 --> 00:04:53.149
Meanwhile,

00:04:53.149 --> 00:04:55.149
a man from the family of Pharaoh came

00:04:55.149 --> 00:04:57.149
rushing hastily to Moses,

00:04:57.149 --> 00:04:59.149
advising him:

00:04:59.149 --> 00:05:01.180
"The chiefs of the people

00:05:01.180 --> 00:05:03.180
among the city's nobility

00:05:03.180 --> 00:05:05.180
are conspiring against you to kill you,

00:05:05.180 --> 00:05:07.220
so depart from this city

00:05:07.220 --> 00:05:09.220
immediately, O Moses!

00:05:09.220 --> 00:05:11.220
Truly, I fear for you

00:05:11.220 --> 00:05:13.220
from the wrath of Pharaoh and his soldiers."

00:05:13.220 --> 00:05:15.470
So Moses, peace be upon him, fled

00:05:15.470 --> 00:05:17.470
from Egypt, escaping

00:05:17.470 --> 00:05:19.470
with his life from the tyranny of the oppressors,

00:05:19.470 --> 00:05:21.470
and headed toward a city

00:05:21.470 --> 00:05:23.470
in the land of Jordan,

00:05:23.470 --> 00:05:25.470
thus beginning a new chapter

00:05:25.470 --> 00:05:27.470
in the life of the Prophet of Allah,

00:05:27.470 --> 00:05:29.819
Moses, peace be upon him.

00:05:29.819 --> 00:05:31.819
Allah Almighty said:

00:05:31.819 --> 00:05:33.889
"And he entered the city

00:05:33.889 --> 00:05:35.889
at a time of inattention

00:05:35.889 --> 00:05:37.889
from its people,

00:05:37.889 --> 00:05:39.889
and found therein two men

00:05:39.889 --> 00:05:41.889
fighting:

00:05:41.889 --> 00:05:43.889
and found therein two men

00:05:43.889 --> 00:05:45.889
fighting, one

00:05:45.889 --> 00:05:47.889
from his faction and the other

00:05:47.889 --> 00:05:49.889
from his enemy.

00:05:49.889 --> 00:05:51.889
And the one who was of his faction

00:05:51.889 --> 00:05:53.889
“And he entered the city at a time of carelessness of its folk, and he found therein two men fighting, one of his own caste, and the other of his enemies; and he who was of his caste asked him for help against him who was of his enemies. So Moses struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: This is of the devil's doing. Lo! he is an enemy, a mere misleader.” (28:15)

00:05:53.889 --> 00:05:55.889
against his enemy,

00:05:55.889 --> 00:05:57.889
so Moses struck him with his fist

00:05:57.889 --> 00:05:59.889
and brought about his end.

00:05:59.889 --> 00:06:01.889

00:06:01.889 --> 00:06:03.889
Satan.

00:06:03.889 --> 00:06:05.889
Indeed, he is an enemy,

00:06:05.889 --> 00:06:07.889
a misleader,

00:06:07.889 --> 00:06:09.889
clear."

00:06:09.889 --> 00:06:11.889
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have

00:06:11.889 --> 00:06:13.889
wronged myself,

00:06:13.889 --> 00:06:15.889
so forgive me,"

00:06:15.889 --> 00:06:17.889
and He forgave him.

00:06:17.889 --> 00:06:19.889
Indeed, He is

00:06:19.889 --> 00:06:21.889
the Forgiving, the Merciful.

00:06:21.889 --> 00:06:23.889
He said, "My Lord, for what

00:06:23.889 --> 00:06:25.889
You have bestowed upon me, I will never

00:06:25.889 --> 00:06:27.889
be an ally to the criminals."

00:06:27.889 --> 00:06:29.889
And he became,

00:06:29.889 --> 00:06:31.889
in the city,

00:06:31.889 --> 00:06:33.889
fearful,

00:06:33.889 --> 00:06:35.889
vigilant,

00:06:35.889 --> 00:06:37.889
when suddenly the one who had

00:06:37.889 --> 00:06:39.889
sought his help yesterday

00:06:39.889 --> 00:06:41.889
was crying out to him for aid.

00:06:41.889 --> 00:06:43.889
Moses said to him,

00:06:43.889 --> 00:06:45.889
"Indeed, you are clearly

00:06:45.889 --> 00:06:47.889
misguided."

00:06:47.889 --> 00:06:49.889
And when

00:06:49.889 --> 00:06:51.889
“And when he would have fallen upon the man who was an enemy unto them both, he said: O Moses! Wouldst thou kill me as thou didst kill a person yesterday. Thou wouldst be nothing but a tyrant in the land, thou wouldst not be of the reformers.” (28:19)

00:06:51.889 --> 00:06:53.889
the one who was an enemy

00:06:53.889 --> 00:06:55.889
to both of them, he said,

00:06:55.889 --> 00:06:57.889
"O Moses,

00:06:57.889 --> 00:06:59.889
"Do you intend

00:06:59.889 --> 00:07:01.889
to kill me just as

00:07:01.889 --> 00:07:03.889
you killed a soul

00:07:03.889 --> 00:07:05.889
yesterday?

00:07:05.889 --> 00:07:07.889
You only want

00:07:07.889 --> 00:07:09.889
to be a tyrant

00:07:09.889 --> 00:07:11.889
in the land,

00:07:11.889 --> 00:07:13.889
and you do not want to be

00:07:13.889 --> 00:07:15.889
among the peacemakers."

00:07:15.889 --> 00:07:17.889
Then there came

00:07:17.889 --> 00:07:19.889
a man

00:07:19.889 --> 00:07:21.889
rushing from the farthest end of the city.

00:07:21.889 --> 00:07:23.889
“And a man came from the uttermost part of the city, running. He said: O Moses! Lo! the chiefs take counsel against thee to slay thee; therefor escape. Lo! I am of those who give thee good advice.” (28:20)

00:07:23.889 --> 00:07:25.889
He said, "O Moses,

00:07:25.889 --> 00:07:27.889
the chiefs

00:07:27.889 --> 00:07:29.889
are conspiring against you

00:07:29.889 --> 00:07:31.889
to kill you, so flee!

00:07:31.889 --> 00:07:33.889
Flee;

00:07:33.889 --> 00:07:35.889
indeed, I am to you

00:07:35.889 --> 00:07:37.889
a sincere advisor."

00:07:37.889 --> 00:07:39.889
So he departed from it,

00:07:39.889 --> 00:07:41.889
fearful

00:07:41.889 --> 00:07:43.889
and watchful.

00:07:43.889 --> 00:07:45.889
He said, "My Lord,

00:07:45.889 --> 00:07:47.889
save me from the wrongdoing people."

00:07:47.889 --> 00:07:49.889
And

00:07:49.889 --> 00:07:51.889
when he set his face

00:07:51.889 --> 00:07:53.889
toward

00:07:53.889 --> 00:07:55.889
Midian, he said, "Perhaps

00:07:55.889 --> 00:07:57.889
my Lord will guide me

00:07:57.889 --> 00:07:59.889
He said, "Perhaps

00:07:59.889 --> 00:08:01.889
my Lord will guide me

00:08:01.889 --> 00:08:03.889
to the right

00:08:03.889 --> 00:08:05.889
path."

00:08:05.889 --> 00:08:08.689
Moses, peace be upon him,

00:08:08.689 --> 00:08:10.689
set out toward the land of Midian.

00:08:10.689 --> 00:08:12.689
He departed fearful,

00:08:12.689 --> 00:08:14.689
without provisions or a beast

00:08:14.689 --> 00:08:16.720
to ride.

00:08:16.720 --> 00:08:18.720
Between Egypt and Midian lay

00:08:18.720 --> 00:08:20.720
a journey of eight

00:08:20.720 --> 00:08:22.720
days, yet he had

00:08:22.720 --> 00:08:24.720
no knowledge of the route,

00:08:24.720 --> 00:08:26.720
having only good expectations of his Lord.

00:08:26.720 --> 00:08:28.720
So he prayed,

00:08:28.720 --> 00:08:30.720
“And when he turned his face toward Midian, he said: Peradventure my Lord will guide me in the right road.” (28:22)

00:08:30.720 --> 00:08:32.720
"to the right path."

00:08:32.879 --> 00:08:34.879
Ibn Abbas,

00:08:34.879 --> 00:08:36.879
may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said:

00:08:36.879 --> 00:08:38.879
"He traveled from Egypt to Midian

00:08:38.879 --> 00:08:40.879
eating nothing but wild herbs

00:08:40.879 --> 00:08:42.879
and tree leaves.

00:08:42.879 --> 00:08:44.879
He was barefoot,

00:08:44.879 --> 00:08:46.879
for the soles of his feet had lost their sandals.

00:08:46.879 --> 00:08:48.879
He sat in the shade,

00:08:48.879 --> 00:08:50.879
though he was the elite of Allah

00:08:50.879 --> 00:08:52.879
among His creation, with

00:08:52.879 --> 00:08:54.879
his belly clinging to his back

00:08:54.879 --> 00:08:56.879
from hunger, so much so that

00:08:56.879 --> 00:08:58.879
the green of the herbs could be seen

00:08:58.879 --> 00:09:00.879
from inside his stomach;

00:09:00.879 --> 00:09:02.879
and he was in dire need

00:09:02.879 --> 00:09:05.549
of even half a date."

00:09:05.549 --> 00:09:07.549
He arrived at Midian

00:09:07.549 --> 00:09:09.549
and came to its watering place.

00:09:09.549 --> 00:09:11.549
It had a well

00:09:11.549 --> 00:09:13.549
frequented by shepherds.

00:09:13.549 --> 00:09:15.549
He found a crowd

00:09:15.549 --> 00:09:17.549
of people there watering their flocks,

00:09:17.549 --> 00:09:19.549
and apart from them he found

00:09:19.549 --> 00:09:21.549
two women holding back

00:09:21.549 --> 00:09:23.549
their sheep from mingling with the flocks of

00:09:23.549 --> 00:09:25.549
those shepherds, lest

00:09:25.549 --> 00:09:27.679
they be harmed.

00:09:27.679 --> 00:09:29.679
When Moses,

00:09:29.679 --> 00:09:31.679
peace be upon him, saw them,

00:09:31.679 --> 00:09:33.679
he felt compassion and pity for them

00:09:33.679 --> 00:09:35.679
and said,

00:09:35.679 --> 00:09:37.679
"What is your concern,

00:09:37.679 --> 00:09:39.679
and why do you not water your flock

00:09:39.679 --> 00:09:41.679
along with these people?"

00:09:41.679 --> 00:09:42.679
They said,

00:09:42.679 --> 00:09:44.679
"We cannot water

00:09:44.679 --> 00:09:46.679
our flock until

00:09:46.679 --> 00:09:48.679
these shepherds depart,

00:09:48.679 --> 00:09:50.679
and our father is a very old man.

00:09:50.679 --> 00:09:52.679
Therefore, we are forced

00:09:52.679 --> 00:09:54.809
to do what you see."

00:09:54.809 --> 00:09:56.809
It was the custom of

00:09:56.809 --> 00:09:58.809
those people

00:09:58.809 --> 00:10:00.809
that whenever they finished watering

00:10:00.809 --> 00:10:02.809
their livestock, they replaced [a heavy rock over the well],

00:10:02.809 --> 00:10:04.809
which could not be lifted

00:10:04.809 --> 00:10:06.809
except by several strong men.

00:10:06.809 --> 00:10:08.809
Then the two young women would come

00:10:08.809 --> 00:10:10.809
and let their sheep drink

00:10:10.809 --> 00:10:12.809
from whatever leftover water remained

00:10:12.809 --> 00:10:14.809
from the people's flocks.

00:10:14.809 --> 00:10:16.870
Moses cared deeply about the situation

00:10:16.870 --> 00:10:18.870
of the two women, and he was stirred by

00:10:18.870 --> 00:10:20.870
protective honor and noble zeal for them.

00:10:20.870 --> 00:10:22.870
He saw that these

00:10:22.870 --> 00:10:24.870
people possessed harshness

00:10:24.870 --> 00:10:26.870
and ill manners toward women

00:10:26.870 --> 00:10:28.870
and the vulnerable among mankind.

00:10:28.870 --> 00:10:31.000
So he stood up at the time

00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:33.000
of intense heat,

00:10:33.000 --> 00:10:35.000
stepped in among the people,

00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:37.000
and moved that rock entirely alone.

00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:39.000
Then he drew water for the two of them

00:10:39.000 --> 00:10:41.000
and watered their flock.

00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:43.000
He then replaced the rock

00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:45.000
as it was before,

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:47.000
without asking the two women

00:10:47.000 --> 00:10:49.190
for any wage.

00:10:49.190 --> 00:10:51.190
Then he looked for nearby shade

00:10:51.190 --> 00:10:53.190
near the watering place,

00:10:53.190 --> 00:10:55.190
sat down in it,

00:10:55.190 --> 00:10:57.190
and supplicated to Allah, praying

00:10:57.190 --> 00:10:59.190
and saying,

00:10:59.190 --> 00:11:01.190
“So he watered (their flock) for them. Then he turned aside into the shade, and said: My Lord! I am needy of whatever good Thou sendest down for me.” (28:24)

00:11:01.190 --> 00:11:04.889
"I am in dire need of whatever good You bestow upon me."

00:11:04.889 --> 00:11:06.889
The two women returned

00:11:06.889 --> 00:11:08.889
to their father

00:11:08.889 --> 00:11:10.889
unusually early.

00:11:10.889 --> 00:11:12.889
He asked them about the reason,

00:11:12.889 --> 00:11:14.889
so they informed him of what happened

00:11:14.889 --> 00:11:16.889
to them and of the noble deed of

00:11:16.889 --> 00:11:18.889
Moses, the stranger,

00:11:18.889 --> 00:11:20.889
toward them. Thereupon,

00:11:20.889 --> 00:11:22.889
the father sent one of his two daughters to invite

00:11:22.889 --> 00:11:24.889
Moses, in order to reward him

00:11:24.889 --> 00:11:26.889
with the wage for watering their flock

00:11:26.889 --> 00:11:28.889
and for his benevolent deed—

00:11:28.889 --> 00:11:30.889
as is the noble custom of virtuous people

00:11:30.889 --> 00:11:32.889
to recompense whoever extends

00:11:32.889 --> 00:11:34.889
a favor to them.

00:11:34.889 --> 00:11:37.019
So there came to him

00:11:37.019 --> 00:11:39.019
one of the two,

00:11:39.019 --> 00:11:41.019
walking with modesty.

00:11:41.019 --> 00:11:43.019
She said to him with utmost

00:11:43.019 --> 00:11:45.019
polite brevity,

00:11:45.019 --> 00:11:47.019
“Then there came unto him one of the two women, walking shyly. She said: Lo! my father biddeth thee, that he may reward thee with a payment for that thou didst water (the flock) for us. Then, when he came unto him and told him the (whole) story, he said: Fear not! Thou hast escaped from the wrongdoing folk.” (28:25)

00:11:47.019 --> 00:11:49.019

00:11:49.019 --> 00:11:51.049
making clear who

00:11:51.049 --> 00:11:53.049
the inviter was and the reason for the invitation

00:11:53.049 --> 00:11:55.049
in these concise

00:11:55.049 --> 00:11:57.080
words.

00:11:57.080 --> 00:11:59.080
She spoke to him out of her consummate modesty

00:11:59.080 --> 00:12:01.210
and refined upbringing.

00:12:01.210 --> 00:12:03.210
Moses then stood up to go with her,

00:12:03.210 --> 00:12:05.210
asking her to walk

00:12:05.210 --> 00:12:07.210
behind him and guide him

00:12:07.210 --> 00:12:09.210
along the way using her voice,

00:12:09.210 --> 00:12:11.210
so that

00:12:11.210 --> 00:12:13.210
the wind would not blow and reveal

00:12:13.210 --> 00:12:15.559
any part of her garments.

00:12:15.559 --> 00:12:17.559
When Moses,

00:12:17.559 --> 00:12:19.559
peace be upon him, met their father,

00:12:19.559 --> 00:12:21.559
the elderly man,

00:12:21.559 --> 00:12:23.559
the father asked him about the reason for his coming

00:12:23.559 --> 00:12:25.559
from Egypt to Midian.

00:12:25.559 --> 00:12:27.559
Moses then arose

00:12:27.559 --> 00:12:29.559
and recounted his circumstances to him,

00:12:29.559 --> 00:12:31.559
as well as the plight of the Children of Israel

00:12:31.559 --> 00:12:33.559
in Egypt,

00:12:33.559 --> 00:12:35.559
mentioning the reason for his flight

00:12:35.559 --> 00:12:37.559
from Pharaoh of Egypt.

00:12:37.559 --> 00:12:39.559
The elder reassured him,

00:12:39.559 --> 00:12:41.559
saying, "Do not fear; [you have escaped from the wrongdoing people]."

00:12:41.559 --> 00:12:44.779

00:12:44.779 --> 00:12:46.779
After Moses had received

00:12:46.779 --> 00:12:48.779
his reward

00:12:48.779 --> 00:12:50.779
and enjoyed the hospitality of the noble elder,

00:12:50.779 --> 00:12:52.840
he prepared to leave.

00:12:52.840 --> 00:12:54.840
Then one of the two young women said

00:12:54.840 --> 00:12:56.840
regarding him,

00:12:56.840 --> 00:12:58.840
"O my father, hire him!

00:12:58.840 --> 00:13:00.840
“One of the two women said: O my father! Hire him! For the best (man) that thou canst hire in the strong, the trustworthy.” (28:26)

00:13:00.840 --> 00:13:02.870
the trustworthy."

00:13:02.870 --> 00:13:04.899
He asked her,

00:13:04.899 --> 00:13:06.970
"And how did you come to know his strength

00:13:06.970 --> 00:13:08.970
and his trustworthiness?"

00:13:08.970 --> 00:13:10.970
So she mentioned what she had seen of him

00:13:10.970 --> 00:13:12.970
at the watering place,

00:13:12.970 --> 00:13:14.970
and how he contended with the men

00:13:14.970 --> 00:13:16.970
and removed the boulder all by himself—

00:13:16.970 --> 00:13:19.100
which proved his strength—

00:13:19.100 --> 00:13:21.100
and that he did not ask them

00:13:21.100 --> 00:13:23.100
for any wage.

00:13:23.100 --> 00:13:25.450
The father was convinced

00:13:25.450 --> 00:13:27.450
by his daughter's words

00:13:27.450 --> 00:13:29.450
and was deeply impressed by the character of Moses,

00:13:29.450 --> 00:13:31.450
peace be upon him.

00:13:31.450 --> 00:13:33.450
So he said to him,

00:13:33.450 --> 00:13:35.450
“He said: Lo! I fain would marry thee to one of these two daughters of mine on condition that thou hirest thyself to me for (the term of) eight pilgrimages. Then if thou completest ten it will be of thine own accord, for I would not make it hard for thee. Allah willing, thou wilt find me of the righteous.” (28:27)

00:13:35.450 --> 00:13:37.450
"I intend to marry you to one of these two daughters of mine,

00:13:37.450 --> 00:13:39.450
on condition that you serve me

00:13:39.450 --> 00:13:41.450
as a hired worker for eight years;

00:13:41.450 --> 00:13:43.450
but if you complete ten,

00:13:43.450 --> 00:13:45.450
it will be an act of grace

00:13:45.450 --> 00:13:47.539
and generosity from you."

00:13:47.539 --> 00:13:49.539
Moses, peace be upon him, agreed,

00:13:49.539 --> 00:13:51.539
and no sooner had he done so

00:13:52.539 --> 00:13:54.539
than Allah enriched him

00:13:54.539 --> 00:13:56.539
from His bounty just as he had asked;

00:13:56.539 --> 00:13:58.610
So he spent the night

00:13:58.610 --> 00:14:00.610
having gained a home, a wife,

00:14:00.610 --> 00:14:02.610
and wealth — the gifts

00:14:02.610 --> 00:14:04.610
of the Most Merciful of the merciful.

00:14:04.610 --> 00:14:06.830
Allah Almighty says:

00:14:06.830 --> 00:14:09.059
"And when

00:14:09.059 --> 00:14:11.059
he arrived at the water

00:14:11.059 --> 00:14:13.059
of Madyan, he found

00:14:13.059 --> 00:14:15.059
there a crowd

00:14:15.059 --> 00:14:17.059
of people watering [their flocks],

00:14:17.059 --> 00:14:19.059
and he found

00:14:19.059 --> 00:14:21.059
beside them a crowd of

00:14:21.059 --> 00:14:23.059
people watering,

00:14:23.059 --> 00:14:25.059
and he found beside them

00:14:25.059 --> 00:14:27.059
two women keeping back [their flocks].

00:14:27.059 --> 00:14:29.059
He said,

00:14:29.059 --> 00:14:31.059
'What is the matter with you two?'

00:14:31.059 --> 00:14:33.059
They said, 'We cannot water

00:14:33.059 --> 00:14:35.059
until the shepherds

00:14:35.059 --> 00:14:37.059
take away their flocks,

00:14:37.059 --> 00:14:39.059
and our father

00:14:39.059 --> 00:14:41.059
is a very old man.'

00:14:41.059 --> 00:14:43.059
So he watered [their flocks] for them,

00:14:43.059 --> 00:14:45.059
then turned back to

00:14:45.059 --> 00:14:47.059
the shade and said,

00:14:47.059 --> 00:14:49.059
'My Lord, truly I am, of whatever good You bestow upon me,

00:14:49.059 --> 00:14:51.059
“So he watered (their flock) for them. Then he turned aside into the shade, and said: My Lord! I am needy of whatever good Thou sendest down for me.” (28:24)

00:14:51.059 --> 00:14:53.059
in need.'

00:14:53.059 --> 00:14:55.059
Then there came to him

00:14:55.059 --> 00:14:57.059
one of the two [women],

00:14:57.059 --> 00:14:59.059
walking with bashfulness.

00:14:59.059 --> 00:15:01.059
She said, 'Indeed,

00:15:01.059 --> 00:15:03.059
my father invites you

00:15:03.059 --> 00:15:05.059
that he may reward you for

00:15:05.059 --> 00:15:07.059
having watered [our flocks] for us.'

00:15:07.059 --> 00:15:09.059
So when he came to him

00:15:09.059 --> 00:15:11.059
and recounted

00:15:11.059 --> 00:15:13.059
the story to him,

00:15:13.059 --> 00:15:15.059
he said, 'Have no fear;

00:15:15.059 --> 00:15:17.059
you have escaped from the wrongdoing

00:15:17.059 --> 00:15:19.059
people.'

00:15:19.059 --> 00:15:21.059
One of them said,

00:15:21.059 --> 00:15:23.059
'O my father, hire him!

00:15:23.059 --> 00:15:25.059
Truly, the best one

00:15:25.059 --> 00:15:27.059
you can hire is the strong,

00:15:27.059 --> 00:15:29.059
trustworthy one.'

00:15:29.059 --> 00:15:31.059
He said, 'Indeed, I wish

00:15:31.059 --> 00:15:33.059
to wed you to one

00:15:33.059 --> 00:15:35.059
of these two daughters of mine, on the condition

00:15:35.059 --> 00:15:37.059
that you serve me for

00:15:37.059 --> 00:15:39.059
eight years;

00:15:39.059 --> 00:15:41.059
but if you complete ten,

00:15:41.059 --> 00:15:43.059
that will be of your own accord.

00:15:43.059 --> 00:15:45.059
And I do not wish

00:15:45.059 --> 00:15:47.059
to make things difficult for you;

00:15:47.059 --> 00:15:49.059
you will find me,

00:15:49.059 --> 00:15:51.059
if Allah

00:15:51.059 --> 00:15:53.059
wills, to be among the righteous.'

00:15:53.059 --> 00:15:55.059
He said,

00:15:55.059 --> 00:15:57.059
'That is [settled] between me

00:15:57.059 --> 00:15:59.059
and you:

00:15:59.059 --> 00:16:01.059
whichever of the two terms I fulfill,

00:16:01.059 --> 00:16:03.059
there shall be no injustice against me,

00:16:03.059 --> 00:16:05.059
and Allah is

00:16:05.059 --> 00:16:07.059
Witness over what we say.'"

00:16:07.059 --> 00:16:10.779
Ibn Mas'ud,

00:16:10.779 --> 00:16:12.779
may Allah be pleased with him, said:

00:16:12.779 --> 00:16:14.779
"The three people with the greatest discernment were:

00:16:14.779 --> 00:16:16.779
the daughter of the companion of Madyan,

00:16:16.779 --> 00:16:18.779
when she said regarding Musa,

00:16:18.779 --> 00:16:20.779
'O my father, hire him!

00:16:20.779 --> 00:16:22.779
Truly, the best one

00:16:22.779 --> 00:16:24.779
you can hire is the strong,

00:16:24.779 --> 00:16:26.779
trustworthy one';

00:16:26.779 --> 00:16:28.779
the wife of al-Aziz,

00:16:28.779 --> 00:16:30.779
when she said regarding Yusuf,

00:16:30.779 --> 00:16:32.779
'Perhaps he will benefit us,

00:16:32.779 --> 00:16:34.779
or we may adopt him as a son';

00:16:34.779 --> 00:16:36.779
and Abu Bakr,

00:16:36.779 --> 00:16:38.779
when he appointed 'Umar as his successor,"

00:16:38.779 --> 00:16:41.070
may Allah be pleased with them both.

00:16:41.070 --> 00:16:43.070
It is narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr:

00:16:43.070 --> 00:16:45.070
"A Jewish man asked me,

00:16:45.070 --> 00:16:47.070
'Which of the two terms did

00:16:47.070 --> 00:16:49.070
Musa fulfill?' I said,

00:16:49.070 --> 00:16:51.070
'I do not know,

00:16:51.070 --> 00:16:53.070
not until I go to the greatest scholar of the Arabs

00:16:53.070 --> 00:16:55.100
and ask him.' So I went

00:16:55.100 --> 00:16:57.100
and asked Ibn 'Abbas,

00:16:57.100 --> 00:16:59.100
may Allah be pleased with them both,

00:16:59.100 --> 00:17:01.100
and he said, 'He fulfilled

00:17:01.100 --> 00:17:03.100
the longer and more complete of the two;

00:17:03.100 --> 00:17:05.099
for when a messenger of Allah

00:17:05.099 --> 00:17:07.099
says something, he does it.'"

00:17:07.099 --> 00:17:10.289
Then, when Musa completed

00:17:10.289 --> 00:17:12.289
the term and fulfilled

00:17:12.289 --> 00:17:14.289
the full ten years in the most

00:17:14.289 --> 00:17:16.289
complete manner,

00:17:16.289 --> 00:17:18.289
he wished to return to his homeland

00:17:18.289 --> 00:17:20.289
and his family in Egypt.

00:17:20.289 --> 00:17:22.289
So he sought permission from his wife's father,

00:17:22.289 --> 00:17:24.289
the elderly shaykh,

00:17:24.289 --> 00:17:26.319
who granted him permission.

00:17:26.319 --> 00:17:28.319
He set out with his family, heading towards Egypt,

00:17:28.319 --> 00:17:30.319
unaware of the situation there

00:17:30.319 --> 00:17:32.319
and unaware of what

00:17:32.319 --> 00:17:34.319
would happen to him on this journey of his —

00:17:34.319 --> 00:17:36.319
and of the great honors

00:17:36.319 --> 00:17:38.319
from the Lord of Might

00:17:38.319 --> 00:17:41.539
and Majesty.

00:17:41.539 --> 00:17:43.539
So he set out from Madyan along with his wife

00:17:43.539 --> 00:17:45.539
and his two sons.

00:17:45.539 --> 00:17:47.539
It was during the winter season,

00:17:47.539 --> 00:17:49.539
and Musa lost the way.

00:17:49.539 --> 00:17:51.539
When

00:17:51.539 --> 00:17:53.539
night fell, and it was

00:17:53.539 --> 00:17:55.539
a pitch-black night,

00:17:55.539 --> 00:17:57.539
intensely cold,

00:17:57.539 --> 00:17:59.700
Musa, peace be upon him, saw

00:17:59.700 --> 00:18:01.700
a fire from afar.

00:18:01.700 --> 00:18:03.700
He said to his family,

00:18:03.700 --> 00:18:05.700
"Stay here,

00:18:05.700 --> 00:18:07.700
and I will go to that fire;

00:18:07.700 --> 00:18:09.700
perhaps I will find there

00:18:09.700 --> 00:18:11.700
someone who can guide us to the way,

00:18:11.700 --> 00:18:13.700
or perhaps I can bring you

00:18:13.700 --> 00:18:15.700
a burning brand from the fire

00:18:15.700 --> 00:18:17.700
with which you may warm yourselves

00:18:17.700 --> 00:18:21.009
against this cold."

00:18:21.009 --> 00:18:23.009
When Musa arrived

00:18:23.009 --> 00:18:25.009
at the sacred valley,

00:18:25.009 --> 00:18:27.009
he witnessed a magnificent sight

00:18:27.009 --> 00:18:29.170
and an awe-inspiring wonder:

00:18:29.170 --> 00:18:31.170
he saw a fire blazing in a tree,

00:18:31.170 --> 00:18:33.170
yet the more the fire increased

00:18:33.170 --> 00:18:35.170
in burning,

00:18:35.170 --> 00:18:37.170
the more the tree increased in verdant greenness.

00:18:37.170 --> 00:18:39.170
This was indeed

00:18:39.170 --> 00:18:41.170
astonishing,

00:18:41.170 --> 00:18:43.170
for the fire was not consuming the tree.

00:18:43.170 --> 00:18:45.579
Ibn 'Abbas,

00:18:45.579 --> 00:18:47.579
may Allah be pleased with them both, said:

00:18:47.579 --> 00:18:49.579
"It was not fire,

00:18:49.579 --> 00:18:51.579
but rather a radiant light

00:18:51.579 --> 00:18:54.930
glowing brightly."

00:18:54.930 --> 00:18:56.930
Allah Almighty spoke to him

00:18:56.930 --> 00:18:58.930
directly without an intermediary,

00:18:58.930 --> 00:19:00.930
revealed revelation directly to him,

00:19:00.930 --> 00:19:02.930
and showed him of His greatest

00:19:02.930 --> 00:19:05.119
signs.

00:19:05.119 --> 00:19:07.119
Then Allah Almighty sent him

00:19:07.119 --> 00:19:09.119
to the tyrant Pharaoh

00:19:09.119 --> 00:19:11.220
and his defiant transgressors.

00:19:11.220 --> 00:19:13.220
Musa expressed to his Lord

00:19:13.220 --> 00:19:15.220
his fear of Pharaoh,

00:19:15.220 --> 00:19:17.220
and requested the support of his brother

00:19:17.220 --> 00:19:19.220
Harun,

00:19:19.220 --> 00:19:21.220
interceding for him to be made a prophet

00:19:21.220 --> 00:19:23.220
and a messenger alongside him.

00:19:23.220 --> 00:19:25.220
Allah granted his request

00:19:25.220 --> 00:19:27.539
and sent them both to Pharaoh.

00:19:27.539 --> 00:19:29.539
Musa, peace be upon him,

00:19:29.539 --> 00:19:31.539
had an impediment in his tongue

00:19:31.539 --> 00:19:33.539
that hindered him from pronouncing certain

00:19:33.539 --> 00:19:35.539
letters clearly,

00:19:35.539 --> 00:19:37.539
so Allah removed that from him

00:19:37.539 --> 00:19:39.539
and reassured him that

00:19:39.539 --> 00:19:41.539
He would grant them such power and signs

00:19:41.539 --> 00:19:43.539
as would prevent

00:19:43.539 --> 00:19:45.539
Pharaoh from harming him

00:19:45.539 --> 00:19:47.539
or his brother,

00:19:47.539 --> 00:19:49.539
and would bring about their victory

00:19:49.539 --> 00:19:52.660
over him.

00:19:52.660 --> 00:19:54.660
The Mother of the Believers 'A'ishah,

00:19:54.660 --> 00:19:56.660
may Allah be pleased with her, heard

00:19:56.660 --> 00:19:58.660
a man asking the people

00:19:58.660 --> 00:20:00.660
while they were traveling for Hajj:

00:20:00.660 --> 00:20:02.660
"Who is the brother who bestowed

00:20:02.660 --> 00:20:04.660
the greatest favor upon his brother,

00:20:04.660 --> 00:20:06.660
such that no one has ever bestowed

00:20:06.660 --> 00:20:08.720
a favor equal to it?"

00:20:08.720 --> 00:20:10.720
The people remained silent, not knowing

00:20:10.720 --> 00:20:12.720
the answer.

00:20:12.720 --> 00:20:14.720
Thereupon 'A'ishah, from inside her litter, said:

00:20:14.720 --> 00:20:16.720
"It was Musa,

00:20:16.720 --> 00:20:18.720
peace be upon him,

00:20:18.720 --> 00:20:20.720
when he interceded for his brother Harun,

00:20:20.720 --> 00:20:22.720
so that he became a prophet."

00:20:22.720 --> 00:20:25.200
Allah Almighty says:

00:20:25.200 --> 00:20:27.329
"And when

00:20:27.329 --> 00:20:29.329
Musa had fulfilled the term

00:20:29.329 --> 00:20:31.329
and was traveling with his family,

00:20:31.329 --> 00:20:33.329
he perceived in the direction

00:20:33.329 --> 00:20:35.329
of the Mount a fire.

00:20:35.329 --> 00:20:37.329
He said to his family, 'Stay here;

00:20:37.329 --> 00:20:39.329
indeed, I have perceived

00:20:39.329 --> 00:20:41.329
a fire; perhaps

00:20:41.329 --> 00:20:43.329
I will bring you from there

00:20:43.329 --> 00:20:45.329
some news,

00:20:45.329 --> 00:20:47.329
"Perhaps I may bring you from it

00:20:47.329 --> 00:20:49.329
some information or a burning brand

00:20:49.329 --> 00:20:51.329
of fire,

00:20:51.329 --> 00:20:53.329
so that you may

00:20:53.329 --> 00:20:55.329
warm yourselves."

00:20:55.329 --> 00:20:57.329
And when he reached it,

00:20:57.329 --> 00:20:59.329
he was called from the side of

00:20:59.329 --> 00:21:01.329
“And when he reached it, he was called from the right side of the valley in the blessed field, from the tree: O Moses! Lo! I, even I, am Allah, the Lord of the Worlds;” (28:30)

00:21:01.329 --> 00:21:03.329
the blessed valley,

00:21:03.329 --> 00:21:05.329
from the tree:

00:21:05.329 --> 00:21:07.329
"O Moses,

00:21:07.329 --> 00:21:09.329
O Moses!

00:21:09.329 --> 00:21:11.329
Truly I am Allah,

00:21:11.329 --> 00:21:13.329
the Lord of all worlds.

00:21:13.329 --> 00:21:15.329
And cast down

00:21:15.329 --> 00:21:17.329
your staff."

00:21:17.329 --> 00:21:19.329
But when he saw it

00:21:19.329 --> 00:21:21.329
slithering

00:21:21.329 --> 00:21:23.329
as if it were a serpent,

00:21:23.329 --> 00:21:25.329
he turned away,

00:21:25.329 --> 00:21:27.329
and when he saw it

00:21:27.329 --> 00:21:29.329
slithering

00:21:29.329 --> 00:21:31.460
as if it were a serpent,

00:21:31.460 --> 00:21:33.460
he turned away,

00:21:33.460 --> 00:21:35.460
fleeing,

00:21:35.460 --> 00:21:37.460
without looking back.

00:21:37.460 --> 00:21:39.460
"O Moses,

00:21:39.460 --> 00:21:41.460
draw near and do not fear!

00:21:41.460 --> 00:21:43.460
Indeed, you are of

00:21:43.460 --> 00:21:45.460
the secure.

00:21:45.460 --> 00:21:47.460
“Thrust thy hand into the bosom of thy robe it will come forth white without hurt. And guard thy heart from fear. Then these shall be two proofs from your Lord unto Pharaoh and his chiefs. Lo! they are evil-living folk.” (28:32)

00:21:47.460 --> 00:21:49.460
It will come out white,

00:21:49.460 --> 00:21:51.460
without

00:21:51.460 --> 00:21:53.460
any harm,

00:21:53.460 --> 00:21:55.460
it will come out white,

00:21:55.460 --> 00:21:57.460
without any harm.

00:21:57.460 --> 00:21:59.460
And draw closely to yourself

00:21:59.460 --> 00:22:01.460
your arm to calm your fear.

00:22:01.460 --> 00:22:03.460
These are

00:22:03.460 --> 00:22:05.460
two signs from your Lord

00:22:05.460 --> 00:22:07.460
to Pharaoh and his chiefs.

00:22:07.460 --> 00:22:09.460
Indeed, they

00:22:09.460 --> 00:22:11.460
have been a people

00:22:11.460 --> 00:22:13.460
defiantly disobedient."

00:22:13.460 --> 00:22:15.460
He said, "My Lord, indeed I

00:22:15.460 --> 00:22:17.460
killed a man from among them,

00:22:17.460 --> 00:22:19.460
and I fear that

00:22:19.460 --> 00:22:21.460
they will kill me.

00:22:21.460 --> 00:22:23.460
And my brother Aaron—

00:22:23.460 --> 00:22:25.460
he is more eloquent than me

00:22:25.460 --> 00:22:27.460
in speech,

00:22:27.460 --> 00:22:29.460
so send him with me

00:22:29.460 --> 00:22:31.460
as a helper

00:22:31.460 --> 00:22:33.460
to confirm me.

00:22:33.460 --> 00:22:35.460
Indeed, I

00:22:35.460 --> 00:22:37.460
fear that

00:22:37.460 --> 00:22:39.460
they will deny me."

00:22:39.460 --> 00:22:41.460
Allah said, "We will strengthen your arm

00:22:41.460 --> 00:22:43.460
through your brother, and give

00:22:43.460 --> 00:22:45.460
both of you authority

00:22:45.460 --> 00:22:47.460
so they cannot touch you.

00:22:47.460 --> 00:22:49.460
By Our signs,

00:22:49.460 --> 00:22:51.460
you two

00:22:51.460 --> 00:22:53.460
and those who follow you

00:22:53.460 --> 00:22:55.900
will be the triumphant."

00:22:55.900 --> 00:22:57.900
These verses clarify for us,

00:22:57.900 --> 00:22:59.900
in detail,

00:22:59.900 --> 00:23:01.900
what happened to Moses (peace be upon him)

00:23:01.900 --> 00:23:03.900
when he went to that

00:23:03.900 --> 00:23:05.900
fire.

00:23:05.900 --> 00:23:07.900
And everything with Allah is by due measure:

00:23:07.900 --> 00:23:09.970
losing the way

00:23:09.970 --> 00:23:11.970
was by divine decree,

00:23:11.970 --> 00:23:13.970
seeing the fire was by divine decree,

00:23:13.970 --> 00:23:15.970
and his coming to it

00:23:15.970 --> 00:23:17.970
was by divine decree.

00:23:17.970 --> 00:23:19.970
Glory be to Allah, the Ordainer of

00:23:19.970 --> 00:23:22.319
all destinies!

00:23:22.319 --> 00:23:24.319
And Allah gave Moses two great signs

00:23:24.319 --> 00:23:26.319
to prove his truthfulness

00:23:26.319 --> 00:23:28.450
in his message.

00:23:28.450 --> 00:23:30.450
The first was in his staff,

00:23:30.450 --> 00:23:32.450
and the second

00:23:32.450 --> 00:23:34.640
was in his hand.

00:23:34.640 --> 00:23:36.640
For Allah asked Moses about what was

00:23:36.640 --> 00:23:38.640
in his hand—though He already knew best—

00:23:38.640 --> 00:23:40.640
so Moses replied,

00:23:40.640 --> 00:23:42.640
finding comfort in conversing with the Lord of the worlds:

00:23:42.640 --> 00:23:44.640
"It is my staff;

00:23:44.640 --> 00:23:46.640
I lean upon it,

00:23:46.640 --> 00:23:48.640
and I bring down leaves with it for

00:23:48.640 --> 00:23:50.640
my sheep."

00:23:50.640 --> 00:23:52.640
“He said: This is my staff whereon I lean, and wherewith I bear down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses.” (20:18)

00:23:52.640 --> 00:23:54.740
Then Allah Almighty commanded him

00:23:54.740 --> 00:23:56.740
to cast it down from his hand.

00:23:56.740 --> 00:23:58.740
So he cast it down,

00:23:58.740 --> 00:24:00.740
and the staff turned

00:24:00.740 --> 00:24:02.740
into a great snake,

00:24:02.740 --> 00:24:04.740
moving swiftly

00:24:04.740 --> 00:24:06.740
as if it were a serpent.

00:24:06.799 --> 00:24:08.799
So Moses (peace be upon him) was terrified

00:24:08.799 --> 00:24:10.799
and fled from it,

00:24:10.799 --> 00:24:12.799
but Allah reassured him

00:24:12.799 --> 00:24:14.799
and said to him: "Do not fear;

00:24:14.799 --> 00:24:16.799
take hold of it with your hand.

00:24:16.799 --> 00:24:18.799
We shall return it

00:24:18.799 --> 00:24:20.799
to its former state."

00:24:20.799 --> 00:24:22.799
So Moses reached out his hand and took it,

00:24:22.799 --> 00:24:24.799
and the snake turned back

00:24:24.799 --> 00:24:26.799
into a staff just as it was.

00:24:26.799 --> 00:24:28.829
Then Allah said to him:

00:24:28.829 --> 00:24:30.829
"Put your hand

00:24:30.829 --> 00:24:32.829
into your bosom,"

00:24:32.829 --> 00:24:34.829
that is, the neck opening of your garment.

00:24:34.829 --> 00:24:36.829
So he inserted it,

00:24:36.829 --> 00:24:38.829
and his hand came out shining white,

00:24:38.829 --> 00:24:40.829
gleaming like the moon,

00:24:40.829 --> 00:24:42.829
without any leprosy

00:24:42.829 --> 00:24:44.859
or disease,

00:24:44.859 --> 00:24:46.859
but rather as a clear sign

00:24:46.859 --> 00:24:48.859
of the power of Allah Almighty.

00:24:48.859 --> 00:24:52.109
To be continued,

00:24:52.109 --> 00:24:54.109
if Allah wills.

00:24:54.109 --> 00:24:56.109
And Allah knows best.

00:24:56.109 --> 00:24:58.109
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds,

00:24:58.109 --> 00:25:00.109
and may peace and blessings

00:25:00.109 --> 00:25:02.109
be upon our Prophet Muhammad,

00:25:02.109 --> 00:25:04.109
and upon his family

00:25:04.109 --> 00:25:06.109
and all his Companions.

00:25:06.109 --> 00:25:09.230
You have been listening to Stories of

00:25:09.230 --> 00:25:14.849
the Prophets.

00:25:14.849 --> 00:25:19.089
May our Lord guide

00:25:19.089 --> 00:25:22.460
the believer, and may Allah bless

00:25:22.460 --> 00:25:24.460
our Master.

00:25:24.460 --> 00:25:29.789
[Closing remarks]
