Verse and interpretation
God Almighty said
If you dispute over anything, refer it to God and the Messenger if you believe in God and the Last Day
Mujahid, may God have mercy on him, said
That is, return it to the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace
This is an order from God Almighty
That everything people dispute over, from the origins of religion to its branches
That the dispute in this matter should be referred to the Qur’an and Sunnah
As God Almighty said
Whatever you disagree about, its judgment rests with God
What is ruled by the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace?
I bear witness to his health, for he is the truth
That is why God Almighty said
If you believe in God and the Last Day
That is, returning disputes and ignorance to the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace
So refer to them for judgment concerning what disputes between you
If you believe in God and the Last Day
This indicates that whoever does not seek judgment in the field of dispute resorts to the Qur’an and Sunnah
He does not believe in God or the Last Day
