Moderation in this religion
Allah the Almighty says:
“Thus We have appointed you a middle nation, that ye may be witnesses against mankind, and that the messenger may be a witness against you. And We appointed the qiblah which ye formerly observed only that We might know him who followeth the messenger, from him who turneth on his heels. In truth it was a hard (test) save for those whom Allah guided. But it was not Allah's purpose that your faith should be in vain, for Allah is Full of Pity, Merciful toward mankind.” (2:143)
Moderation is a prominent characteristic of this religion in all its aspects.
Because it is from Allah the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Aware.
And religious moderation means justice, choosing the best, and balance between the extremes of excess and negligence.
The people of Islam are moderate in their understanding of Tawhid (monotheism) and the Messengers, between the extremism of the Christians and the rejection of the Jews.
And Ahl al-Sunnah are moderate between the extremists and the negligent among the people of innovation.
They are moderate in the matters of faith and disbelief, between the Khawarij and the Murji'ah.
And they are moderate in the matters of the Divine Attributes, between the deniers and the anthropomorphists.
And so it is in the rest of the creedal matters, as well as in ethics and acts of worship.
In summary, the concept of moderation in Islam means steadfastness upon the command of Allah.
