From the beauties of the Prophetic biography. Divine protection. No matter how much the conspirators plot against you or the ambushers gather against you, nothing will befall you except what Allah has decreed. For this reason, the certainty of the prophets and the righteous was the greatest certainty, and their reliance upon Allah was the most sincere. We learn from them the excellence of certainty and reliance upon the One, the Unique. They are not terrified by an enemy, nor are they intimidated by an adversary. Jabir Ibn 'Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, toward Najd. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, caught up with us in a valley filled with thorny trees. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, dismounted under a tree. He hung his sword on one of its branches. He said: The people dispersed throughout the valley, seeking shade under the trees. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: A man came to me while I was sleeping. He took the sword, and I woke up while he was standing over me. I was suddenly aware of the sword being unsheathed in his hand. He said to me: "Who will protect you from me?" I said: "Allah." Then he said a second time: "Who will protect you from me?" I said: "Allah." He said: So he sheathed the sword, and there he is, sitting. Yet the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, did not punish him. How many Arab tribes had the ambition to kill the Messenger of Allah, he who brought the true religion, and they plotted against him with schemes. But Allah thwarted them and turned their schemes back against them. Their plotting became scattered dust. Allah the Exalted says: ﴾And Allah will protect you from the people.﴿ The Bedouin had the opportunity here, and he brandished the sword; it was his chance. But Allah subdued him, repelled his malice and his violence, and Allah is the best of protectors. For life and death belong to Allah alone. No human possesses them, and no created being can limit them. Nor can any army or oppressive force decree them. Why, then, should there be fear, when whoever relies upon Allah, He is sufficient for him? Whoever seeks His help, He grants him victory, and whoever seeks His aid, He assists him. Nothing occurs in His realms except what He, Glory be to Him and Exalted is He, wills. He is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. And Allah knows best.
