camels and forty sheep for every man. 00:00:24.879 --> 00:00:30.679 There is no doubt that this was the greatest amount of spoils the Muslims had acquired in their time. 00:00:31.079 --> 00:00:36.079 The Prophet, peace be upon him, gave the people what he gave them. 00:00:36.079 --> 00:00:39.880 Yet he left the Ansar, giving them nothing. 00:00:39.880 --> 00:00:42.880 The Ansar felt a sense of grievance in their hearts. 00:00:42.880 --> 00:00:47.280 They wondered how the Messenger, peace be upon him, could give to these people— 00:00:47.280 --> 00:00:51.679 the recent converts of the Conquest, some of the people of Makkah, and some of the Bedouins— 00:00:51.679 --> 00:00:54.679 while giving us nothing. 00:00:54.679 --> 00:00:56.679 Talk spread among them. 00:00:56.679 --> 00:00:58.880 Some of them even said, 00:00:58.880 --> 00:01:05.200 "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, has met his own people, and we have been forgotten." 00:01:05.200 --> 00:01:08.599 Sa‘d ibn ‘Ubadah entered upon him and said, 00:01:08.599 --> 00:01:10.400 "O Messenger of Allah, 00:01:10.400 --> 00:01:12.799 this clan of the Ansar 00:01:12.799 --> 00:01:15.400 has felt aggrieved by you in their hearts 00:01:15.400 --> 00:01:19.599 because of what you did regarding this booty you divided among your people, 00:01:19.599 --> 00:01:23.599 and the massive gifts you gave to the tribes of the Arabs, 00:01:23.599 --> 00:01:27.530 while the clan of the Ansar received nothing of it." 00:01:27.730 --> 00:01:30.930 The Prophet, peace be upon him, asked, 00:01:30.930 --> 00:01:34.129 "And where do you stand on this, O Sa‘d?" 00:01:34.129 --> 00:01:36.530 He replied, "O Messenger of Allah, 00:01:36.530 --> 00:01:39.329 I am but one of my people." 00:01:39.329 --> 00:01:42.530 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 00:01:42.530 --> 00:01:45.930 "Then gather your people for me in this enclosure." 00:01:45.930 --> 00:01:48.530 In some narrations, he said, 00:01:48.530 --> 00:01:52.530 "And let no one enter upon us except a man from the Ansar." 00:01:52.530 --> 00:01:55.530 Sa‘d went out and gathered the Ansar. 00:01:55.530 --> 00:01:59.129 Some men 00:02:58.330 They said, "How shall we answer you, O Messenger of Allah? 00:02:58.330 --> 00:03:02.129 To Allah and His Messenger belong all grace and generosity." 00:03:02.129 --> 00:03:05.129 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 00:03:05.129 --> 00:03:08.129 "By Allah, if you wished, you could have said— 00:03:08.129 --> 00:03:10.930 and you would have been truthful and believed— 00:03:10.930 --> 00:03:12.530 if you had said: 00:03:12.530 --> 00:03:15.930 'You came to us belied, and we believed you; 00:03:15.930 --> 00:03:18.330 forsaken, and we helped you; 00:03:18.330 --> 00:03:20.729 an outcast, and we sheltered you; 00:03:20.729 --> 00:03:23.560 poor, and we comforted you.' 00:03:23.560 --> 00:03:25.159 If you had said this, 00:03:25.159 --> 00:03:27.960 you would have been truthful Ansar, 00:03:42.759 --> 00:03:45.960 that the people go away with sheep and camels, 00:03:45.960 --> 00:03:49.759 while you return with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:03:49.759 --> 00:03:51.759 to your dwellings? 00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:54.560 By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, 00:03:54.560 --> 00:03:55.960 were it not for the Hijrah, 00:03:55.960 --> 00:03:58.759 I would have been one of the Ansar. 00:03:58.759 --> 00:04:00.960 If the people traveled through a valley, 00:04:00.960 --> 00:04:03.560 and the Ansar traveled through another, 00:04:03.560 --> him." 00:07:37.629 --> 00:07:41.129 Al-Aqra‘ ibn Habis stood up and said, 00:07:41.129 --> 00:07:44.629 "As for me and the Banu Tamim, no." 00:07:44.629 --> 00:07:47.629 ‘Uyaynah ibn Hisn stood up and said, 00:07:47.629 --> 00:07:51.129 "As for me and the Banu Fazarah, no." 00:07:51.129 --> 00:07:54.629 Al-‘Abbas ibn Mirdas stood up and said, 00:07:54.629 --> 00:07:58.129 "As for me and the Banu Sulaym, no." 00:07:58.129 --> 00:08:00.129 But the Banu Sulaym said, 00:08:00.129 --> 00:08:05.129 "What belongs to us belongs to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him." 00:08:05.129 --> 00:08:07.129 Al-‘Abbas said, 00:08:07.129 --> 00:08:09.129 "You have humiliated me." 00:08:09.129 --> 00:08:12.629 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, 00:08:12.629 --> 00:08:16.629 "These people have come as Muslims, 00:08:16.629 --> 00:08:19.629 and I had delayed their captives. 00:08:19.629 --> 00:08:21.129 I gave them a choice, 00:08:21.129 --> 00:08:25.129 and they would not trade their children and women for anything. 00:08:25.129 --> 00:08:27.629 So whoever has any of them, 00:08:27.629 --> 00:08:30.129 and is willing to return them, 00:08:30.129 --> 00:08:32.129 then that is the way. 00:08:32.129 --> 00:08:34.629 And whoever wishes to hold onto his right, 00:08:34.629 --> 00:08:36.629 let him return them to them, 00:08:36.629 --> 00:08:40.129 and he shall have six shares satisfied and who is not. 00:09:06.629 --> 00:09:09.629 So they returned their women to them, 00:09:09.629 --> 00:09:12.129 and no one held back 00:09:12.129 --> 00:09:14.629 except ‘Uyaynah ibn Hisn alone. 00:09:14.629 --> 00:09:18.129 Then, after a while, he returned them. 00:09:18.129 --> 00:09:20.759 When this delegation came, 00:09:20.759 --> 00:09:24.259 the Prophet, peace be upon him, asked them, 00:09:24.259 --> 00:09:26.759 "What is the state of Malik ibn ‘Awf?" 00:09:26.759 --> 00:09:28.259 They said, 00:09:28.259 --> 00:09:30.759 "He is in al-Ta'if with Thaqif." 00:09:30.759 --> 00:09:33.759 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 00:09:33.759 --> 00:09:35.259 "Inform him: 00:09:35.259 --> 00:09:37.259 if he comes to me as a Muslim, 00:09:37.259 --> 00:09:39.759 I will return his family and wealth to him, 00:09:39.759 --> 00:09:42.259 and give him one hundred camels." 00:09:42.259 --> 00:09:45.759 When that message reached Malik, 00:09:45.759 --> 00:09:47.759 he slipped away from Thaqif 00:09:47.759 --> 00:09:52.259 until he came to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:09:52.259 --> 00:09:54.759 and he embraced Islam, and his Islam was sincere. 00:09:54.759 --> 00:09:57.759 The Prophet, peace be upon him, returned 00:09:57.759 --> 00:09:59.759 his wealth and family to him, 00:09:59.759 --> 00:10:02.259 and gave him one hundred camels. 00:10:02.259 --> 00:10:24.320 And when the battalion bares its fangs, 00:10:24.320 --> 00:10:27.820 With long spears and the strike of every Indian blade, 00:10:27.820 --> 00:10:31.320 He is like a lion protecting its cubs, 00:10:31.320 --> 00:10:35.820 Crouched in ambush amidst the dust of battle. 00:10:35.820 --> 00:10:39.320 Indeed, he saw this with his own eyes: 00:10:39.320 --> 00:10:40.820 The people fled, 00:10:40.820 --> 00:10:42.820 While the army advanced, 00:10:42.820 --> 00:10:45.320 And the Prophet, peace be upon him, 00:10:45.320 --> 00:10:48.820 Was not advancing alone to face the army. 00:10:48.820 --> 00:10:51.320 What courage this is! 00:10:51.320 --> 00:10:55.320 It is the courage of the Prophet, peace be upon him, 00:10:55.320 --> 00:10:59.879 The likes of which has never been seen. 00:10:59.879 --> 00:11:05.250 Treasures of the Prophetic biography. 00:11:05.250 --> 00:11:11.669 Lessons learned from the Battle of Hunayn. 00:11:11.669 --> 00:11:16.169 First: It is from the wisdom of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, 00:11:16.169 --> 00:11:19.669 That He let the Muslims taste the bitterness of defeat, 00:11:19.669 --> 00:11:22.169 Despite their great numbers and strength, 00:11:22.169 --> 00:11:27.669 So that He, Glory be to Him, might humble the heads that were held high after the conquest. 00:11:27.669 --> 00:11:31.669 Second: Allah clarifies to those who said, 00:11:31.669 --> 00:11:34.169 "We shall not be defeated today due to our small numbers," 00:11:34.169 --> 00:11:38.669 That victory comes only from Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He; 00:11:38.669 --> 00:11:42.240 There is no helper other than Him, Majestic and Exalted. 00:11:42.240 --> 00:11:43.240 Third: 00:11:43.240 --> 00:11:48.240 When Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, withheld the spoils of Makkah from the Muslims, 00:11:48.240 --> 00:11:50.740 He compensated them with the spoils of Hunayn, 00:11:50.740 --> 00:11:54.830 Which were the greatest spoils they ever obtained. 00:11:54.830 --> 00:11:55.830 Fourth: 00:11:55.830 --> 00:12:00.830 The Prophet's, peace be upon him, reconciliation of the hearts of the disbelievers, 00:12:00.830 --> 00:12:03.330 And those new to Islam. 00:12:03.330 --> 00:12:06.830 This is done to secure the greater of two interests, 00:12:06.830 --> 00:12:09.830 And to avert the greater of two harms. 00:12:09.830 --> 00:12:13.830 For if the Messenger, peace be upon him, gives to a leader, 00:12:13.830 --> 00:12:15.330 His people follow him, 00:12:15.330 --> 00:12:17.830 And this is a great benefit, 00:12:17.830 --> 00:12:19.830 Which outweighs the other interest, 00:12:19.830 --> 00:12:23.830 That of equality among people in giving, 00:12:23.830 --> 00:12:26.330 And it averts a great harm, 00:12:26.330 --> 00:12:29.330 For if this man disbelieves, his people will disbelieve. 00:12:29.330 --> 00:12:33.330 Therefore, when the leaders embrace Islam, their people embrace Islam. 00:12:33.330 --> 00:12:36.330 Thus, Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him, 00:12:36.330 --> 00:12:38.830 When he embraced Islam, his people embraced Islam, 00:12:38.830 --> 00:12:43.250 And likewise Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah, may Allah be pleased with 00:13:36.940 "O Messenger of Allah, 00:13:36.940 --> 00:13:39.940 The provider is gone, and the protector is cut off. 00:13:40.440 --> 00:13:42.440 I am an old woman, 00:13:42.440 --> 00:13:44.440 And I have no capacity for service. 00:13:44.440 --> 00:13:47.470 So show me favor, may Allah show you favor." 00:13:47.470 --> 00:13:48.970 He asked, 00:13:48.970 --> 00:13:50.470 "Who is your provider?"
