A verse and its Tafsir.
Allah the Exalted says:
“Who hoard their wealth and enjoin avarice on others, and hide that which Allah hath bestowed upon them of His bounty. For disbelievers We prepare a shameful doom;” (4:37)
Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
Stinginess is a denial of the blessings of Allah.
It neither appears upon a person nor is it evident,
Neither in his food nor in his clothing,
Nor in his giving and his generosity.
Just as the Exalted says:
"Indeed, mankind is, to his Lord, ungrateful."
“And lo! he is a witness unto that;” (100:7)
Meaning, through his state and his characteristics.
For the stingy person conceals the blessing of Allah, hides it, and denies it.
Thus, he is ungrateful for the blessings.
