Allah forgiveth not that a partner should be ascribed unto Him. He forgiveth (all) save that to whom He will. Whoso ascribeth partners to Allah, he hath indeed invented a tremendous sin.” (4:48) 00:15:41.129 --> 00:15:43.419 Third: 00:15:43.419 --> 00:15:45.419 The necessity of eternal abode in the Fire. 00:15:45.419 --> 00:15:47.419 Allah the Almighty says regarding the polytheists: 00:15:47.419 --> 00:15:49.419 Those who take others as equals to Allah, 00:15:49.419 --> 00:15:51.419 loving them as they should love Allah. 00:15:51.419 --> 00:15:54.450 And those who followed will say: 00:15:54.450 --> 00:15:58.450 "If only we had another chance, 00:15:58.450 --> 00:16:03.450 we would disown them, 00:16:03.450 --> 00:16:06.450 just as they have disowned us." 00:16:06.450 --> 00:16:12.450 “And those who were but followers will say: If a return were possible for us, we would disown them even as they have disowned us. Thus will Allah show them their own deeds as anguish for them, and they will not emerge from the Fire.” (2:167) 00:16:12.450 --> 00:16:19.450 “And those who were but followers will say: If a return were possible for us, we would disown them even as they have disowned us. Be mindful of your duty to Allah, and seek the way of approach unto Him, and strive in His way in order that ye may succeed.” (5:35) 00:16:36.399 --> 00:16:41.399 It is that which draws one closer to Allah the Almighty through prescribed acts of worship. 00:16:41.399 --> 00:16:44.399 Tawassul is of three types: 00:16:44.399 --> 00:16:47.399 First: Permissible Tawassul. 00:16:47.399 --> 00:16:52.399 This is seeking nearness to Allah the Almighty through His Most Beautiful Names and Lofty Attributes, 00:16:52.399 --> 00:16:55.399 or through a righteous deed performed by the one seeking nearness, 00:16:55.399 --> 00:16:58.399 or through the supplication of a living, righteous person. 00:16:58.399 --> 00:17:01.399 Just as 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) requested 00:17:01.399 --> 00:17:03.399 from al-'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), 00:17:03.399 --> 00:17:06.400 the uncle of the Prophet (peace be upon him), 00:17:06.400 --> 00:17:10.400 to supplicate to Allah for the Muslims for rain. 00:17:10.400 --> 00:17:14.400 This indicates that it was an intercession through the supplication of a living person, 00:17:14.400 --> 00:17:16.400 not through the person's own essence. 00:17:16.400 --> 00:17:18.400 It is noted that 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) 00:17:18.400 --> 00:17:27.400 mentioned that they used to seek nearness to Allah for rain during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace be upon him) through his supplication, 00:17:27.400 --> 00:17:29.400 and his prayer for rain (istisqa'). 00:17:29.400 --> 00:17:32.400 When the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed away, 00:17:32.400 --> 00:17:37.400 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not seek intercession through his (the Prophet's) essence, 00:17:37.400 --> 00:17:42.400 but rather turned to his uncle al-'Abbas to supplicate for them. 00:17:42.400 --> 00:17:45.660 Second: Innovated Tawassul. 00:17:45.660 --> 00:17:50.660 This is seeking nearness to Allah the Almighty through means not established in the Shari'ah, 00:17:50.660 --> 00:17:53.660 such as seeking intercession through the essence of prophets and righteous people, 00:17:53.660 --> 00:17:57.660 or their status, honor, and the like. 00:17:57.660 --> 00:18:01.980 Third: Polytheistic Tawassul (Shirk). 00:18:01.980 --> 00:18:06.039 This is taking the dead and idols as intermediaries in worship, 00:18:06.039 --> 00:18:09.039 supplicating to them, and asking them for needs, 00:18:09.039 --> 00:18:13.039 seeking their aid, and offering sacrifices and vows to them, 00:18:13.039 --> 00:18:15.039 and the like. 00:18:15.039 --> 00:18:17.230 The Taghut (false deity/tyrant). 00:18:17.230 --> 00:18:21.190 The word Taghut is derived from tughyan (transgression), 00:18:21.190 --> 00:18:24.190 which means exceeding the limits. 00:18:24.190 --> 00:18:26.259 You say, "The water has reached a state of tugh," 00:18:26.259 --> 00:18:29.259 meaning it has overflowed and exceeded the limit. 00:18:29.259 --> 00:18:30.289 And, "The sea has reached a state of tugh," 00:18:30.289 --> 00:18:32.289 meaning its waves have surged. 00:18:32.289 --> 00:18:34.289 And when a person reaches a state of tugh, 00:18:34.289 --> 00:18:37.289 it means he has been excessive and exceeded the limits in disobedience, 00:18:37.289 --> 00:18:39.289 or in oppression and arrogance, 00:18:39.289 --> 00:18:41.289 or in disbelief. 00:18:41.289 --> 00:18:43.539 Taghut, in the terminology of the Shari'ah, 00:18:43.539 --> 00:18:49.539 is everything through which the servant exceeds his limits, whether it be an object of worship, a leader, or one who is obeyed. 00:18:49.539 --> 00:18:51.539 Thus, the Taghut of every people 00:18:51.539 --> 00:18:55.539 is whoever they turn to for judgment other than Allah and His Messenger, 00:18:55.539 --> 00:18:57.539 or whoever they worship besides Allah, 00:18:58.539 --> 00:19:02.539 or whoever they follow without insight from Allah, 00:19:02.539 --> 00:19:07.539 or whoever they obey in matters where they do not know it to be obedience to Allah. 00:19:07.539 --> 00:19:12.859 The term Taghut has appeared in the Noble Qur'an in eight verses, 00:19:12.859 --> 00:19:16.859 all of which convey the aforementioned meaning and definition of Taghut. 00:19:16.859 --> 00:19:19.859 Among these is the saying of Allah the Almighty: 00:19:19.859 --> 00:19:22.859 “There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. be a grave, an idol, or a statue worshipped besides Allah. 00:20:45.109 --> 00:20:48.109 It may also be something abstract, 00:20:48.109 --> 00:20:51.109 such as ancient Greek philosophy, 00:20:51.109 --> 00:20:55.109 or constitutions and rulings followed instead of Allah, 00:20:55.109 --> 00:20:58.109 like the Yassa code established by Genghis Khan, 00:20:58.109 --> 00:21:03.109 and contemporary man-made laws that contradict the Shari'ah of Allah. 00:21:03.109 --> 00:21:08.109 Also included under this are contemporary slogans 00:21:08.109 --> 00:21:12.109 upon which loyalty and enmity are based, instead of for Allah the Almighty, 00:21:12.109 --> 00:21:16.109 such as nationalism, patriotism, and feminism, 00:21:16.109 --> 00:21:19.109 democracy and the rule of the people, 00:21:19.109 --> 00:21:23.299 international laws, and so on. 00:21:23.299 --> 00:21:25.299 Satan is the chief of all Taghuts, 00:21:25.299 --> 00:21:28.299 for his goal is to lead the children of Adam astray, 00:21:28.299 --> 00:21:31.299 just as he swore—may he be cursed—to do so: 00:21:31.299 --> 00:21:35.299 “He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,” (38:82) 00:21:35.299 --> 00:21:39.430 "Except for Your chosen servants among them." 00:21:39.430 --> 00:21:42.430 Allah the Almighty has warned us against obeying him, 00:21:42.430 --> 00:21:45.430 and has termed that as worship of Satan. 00:21:45.430 --> 00:21:47.430 Allah the Almighty says: 00:21:47.430 --> 00:21:50.430 “Did I not charge you, O ye sons of Adam, that ye worship not the devil - Lo! he is your open foe! -” (36:60) 00:21:50.430 --> 00:21:52.430 "Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan? 00:21:52.430 --> 00:21:56.430 Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy." 00:21:56.430 --> 00:21:59.720 Minor Shirk. 00:21:59.720 --> 00:22:02.200 Minor Shirk 00:22:02.200 --> 00:22:06.200 is what has been termed as shirk in the texts of the Shari'ah, 00:22:06.200 --> 00:24:14.539 through the deeds of the Hereafter. 00:24:14.539 --> 00:24:16.539 It has been mentioned in the hadith 00:24:16.539 --> 00:24:18.539 that the first people to be fueled into 00:24:18.539 --> 00:24:21.539 the Fire on the Day of Resurrection are three: 00:24:21.539 --> 00:24:23.539 one of them is a reciter of the Qur'an, 00:24:23.539 --> 00:24:25.539 the second is a fighter, 00:24:25.539 --> 00:24:28.539 and the third is a generous spender. 00:24:28.539 --> 00:24:31.539 They claimed to have done so for the sake of Allah, 00:24:31.539 --> 00:24:33.539 but Allah will belie them, 00:24:33.539 --> 00:24:35.539 and mention that they did so 00:24:35.539 --> 00:24:39.539 so that it would be said: "He is a reciter," "He is brave," and "He is generous." 00:24:39.539 --> 00:24:43.740 So they will be the first to be fueled into the Fire. 00:24:43.740 --> 00:24:45.740 One should not underestimate 00:24:45.740 --> 00:24:47.740 such sins 00:24:47.740 --> 00:24:49.740 because they are described as Minor Shirk, 00:24:49.740 --> 00:24:51.740 for they are only named as such 00:24:51.740 --> 00:24:53.740 in comparison to Major Shirk, 00:24:53.740 --> 00:24:55.740 which expels one from the fold of Islam. 00:24:55.740 --> 00:24:58.740 Otherwise, they are among the major sins 00:24:58.740 --> 00:25:01.740 that nullify deeds. 00:25:01.740 --> 00:25:04.059 The error of claiming the disappearance of Shirk 00:25:04.059 --> 00:25:06.059 and the establishment of Creed ('Aqidah). 00:25:06.059 --> 00:25:08.759 Some imagine that 00:25:08.759 --> 00:25:11.759 the mission of the Messenger (peace be upon him) 00:25:11.759 --> 00:25:13.759 and the revelation of the Qur'an 00:25:13.759 --> 00:25:15.759 caused shirk to disappear 00:25:15.759 --> 00:25:17.759 and Tawhid to be established, 00:25:17.759 --> 00:25:19.759 so there is no need, therefore, to begin 00:25:19.759 --> 00:25:21.759 the call to Islam with the Creed, 00:25:21.759 --> 00:25:23.759 as long as it is present and established. 00:25:23.759 --> 00:25:25.819 The answer to this is 00:25:25.819 --> 00:25:27.819 that what disappeared with the mission of 00:25:27.819 --> 00:25:29.819 the Messenger (peace be upon him) 00:25:29.819 --> 00:25:31.819 and the revelation of the Qur'an 00:25:31.819 --> 00:25:33.819 was the total dominance of Jahiliyyah (ignorance) 00:25:33.819 --> 00:25:35.819 across the globe, 00:25:35.819 --> 00:25:37.819 in time and place. 00:25:37.819 --> 00:25:39.819 The correct Creed will never vanish 00:25:39.819 --> 00:25:41.819 in parts of the earth, 00:25:41.819 --> 00:25:44.819 even if it is absent in other parts. 00:25:44.819 --> 00:25:46.819 This does not contradict the appearance of shirk 00:25:46.819 --> 00:25:48.819 and its spread in many places 00:25:48.819 --> 00:25:50.819 on earth, 00:25:50.819 --> 00:25:53.819 or even in some Muslim lands, 00:25:53.819 --> 00:25:55.819 where it appears 00:25:55.819 --> 00:25:57.819 in numerous fields, 00:25:57.819 --> 00:25:59.819 such as the spread of circumambulating graves, 00:25:59.819 --> 00:26:01.819 seeking aid from the saints (awliya'), 00:26:01.819 --> 00:26:03.819 requesting their intercession, 00:26:03.819 --> 00:26:05.819 and offering sacrifices and vows to them. 00:26:05.819 --> 00:26:07.819 And like the belief in the infallibility of the saints 00:26:07.819 --> 00:26:09.819 and the shaykhs, 00:26:09.819 --> 00:26:11.819 their knowledge of the unseen, 00:26:11.819 --> 00:26:13.819 and their fulfillment of needs. 00:26:13.819 --> 00:26:15.819 And like people going 00:26:15.819 --> 00:26:17.819 to soothsayers, magicians, 00:26:17.819 --> 00:26:19.819 and practitioners of sorcery, 00:26:19.819 --> 00:26:21.819 in pursuit of knowledge of the unseen and the breaking of spells, 00:26:21.819 --> 00:26:23.819 and seeking their assistance 00:26:23.819 --> 00:26:25.819 after complying with their 00:26:25.819 --> 00:26:27.819 polytheistic, satanic demands. 00:26:27.819 --> 00:26:29.859 It is like the sidelining of the law of Allah 00:26:29.859 --> 00:26:31.859 from governance in most Muslim lands, 00:26:31.859 --> 00:26:33.859 and people seeking judgment— 00:26:33.859 --> 00:26:35.859 instead of that— 00:26:35.859 --> 00:26:37.859 from the oppressive, 00:26:37.859 --> 00:26:39.859 ignorant tyrant (taghut). 00:26:39.859 --> 00:26:41.859 It is like the rising star of secular thought, 00:26:41.859 --> 00:26:43.920 the so-called liberal [ideology], 00:26:43.920 --> 00:26:45.920 and like the emergence of—and I will not mention— 00:26:45.920 --> 00:26:47.920 most people today being based on something other than 00:26:47.920 --> 00:26:49.920 the creed, such as 00:26:49.920 --> 00:26:51.920 ethnicity, homeland, or nationalism, 00:26:51.920 --> 00:26:53.920 and so on. 00:26:53.920 --> 00:26:55.920 Rather, loyalties have been pledged to the enemies of 00:26:55.920 --> 00:26:57.920 Allah, from among the Jews, the Christians, 00:26:57.920 --> 00:26:59.920 and others among the people of polytheism, 00:26:59.920 --> 00:27:02.049 and atheism. 00:27:02.049 --> 00:27:04.049 The Qur'an itself affirms 00:27:04.049 --> 00:27:06.049 the reality of the persistence of polytheism 00:27:06.049 --> 00:27:08.049 and its spread among the general public, 00:27:08.049 --> 00:27:10.049 despite the manifestation of the truth 00:27:10.049 --> 00:27:12.049 and the abundance of its followers. 00:27:12.049 --> 00:27:14.049 Allah the Exalted has said: 00:27:14.049 --> 00:27:16.049 "And most of the people, 00:27:16.049 --> 00:27:18.049 although you strive [for it], are not believers." 00:27:18.049 --> 00:27:20.049 And He, the Exalted, said: 00:27:20.049 --> 00:27:22.049 "And most of them believe not 00:27:22.049 --> 00:27:24.049 in Allah except 00:27:24.049 --> 00:27:26.049 while they associate others with Him." 00:27:26.049 --> 00:27:28.049 And He, the Exalted, said: 00:27:28.049 --> 00:27:30.049 “If thou obeyedst most of those on earth they would mislead thee far from Allah's way. They follow naught but an opinion, and they do but guess.” (6:116) 00:27:30.049 --> 00:27:32.049 on earth, they will mislead you 00:27:32.049 --> 00:27:34.339 away from the way of Allah. 00:27:34.339 --> 00:27:36.339 So, after all of this, is there 00:27:36.339 --> 00:27:38.339 any room for the claim of those who say 00:27:38.339 --> 00:27:40.339 that the creed of the Ummah is fine, 00:27:40.339 --> 00:27:42.339 and that the discussion regarding 00:27:42.339 --> 00:27:44.339 matters of creed is something 00:27:44.339 --> 00:27:46.660 exaggerated? 00:27:46.660 --> 00:27:48.660 Concern for Antiquities: 00:27:48.660 --> 00:27:50.660 Between Admonition and Polytheism. 00:27:50.660 --> 00:27:53.170 States today pay 00:27:53.170 --> 00:27:55.170 great attention to the antiquities of past nations, 00:27:55.170 --> 00:27:57.170 with extreme care. 00:27:57.170 --> 00:27:59.170 They glorify them, preserve them, 00:27:59.170 --> 00:28:01.170 and turn them into a sphere 00:28:01.170 --> 00:28:03.170 for tourism and visitation. 00:28:03.170 --> 00:28:05.170 They dedicate museums to them, 00:28:05.170 --> 00:28:07.170 and the UNESCO organization, 00:28:07.170 --> 00:28:09.170 affiliated with the United Nations, classifies 00:28:09.170 --> 00:28:11.170 many of the antiquities 00:28:11.170 --> 00:28:13.170 of nations and their regions 00:28:13.170 --> 00:28:15.170 as part of the world heritage 00:28:15.170 --> 00:28:17.170 protected by what is called 00:28:17.170 --> 00:28:19.170 international law. 00:28:19.170 --> 00:28:21.170 So, what is the correct 00:28:21.170 --> 00:28:23.170 stance regarding these antiquities? 00:28:23.170 --> 00:28:25.579 First, one must know 00:28:25.579 --> 00:28:27.579 that Allah the Exalted only 00:28:27.579 --> 00:28:29.579 related to us the stories of those who passed 00:28:29.579 --> 00:28:31.579 from among the nations, 00:28:31.579 --> 00:28:33.579 and left the remains of some of them, 00:28:33.579 --> 00:28:35.579 so that we may take a lesson from that, 00:28:35.579 --> 00:28:37.579 so we do not disobey Allah nor deny 00:28:37.579 --> 00:28:39.579 the messengers as these 00:28:39.579 --> 00:28:41.579 nations did. 00:28:41.579 --> 00:28:43.579 Allah the Exalted said: 00:28:43.579 --> 00:28:45.579 “And how many a community have We destroyed that was thankless for its means of livelihood! And yonder are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them save a little. And We, even We, were the inheritors.” (28:58) 00:28:45.579 --> 00:28:47.579 [and] were ungrateful for their livelihood. 00:28:47.579 --> 00:28:49.579 So those are 00:28:49.579 --> 00:28:51.579 their dwellings, which have not been inhabited 00:28:51.579 --> 00:28:53.579 after them 00:28:53.579 --> 00:28:55.579 except for a little. 00:28:55.579 --> 00:28:57.579 And it was We 00:28:57.579 --> 00:28:59.579 who were the inheritors. 00:28:59.579 --> 00:29:01.839 And He, 00:29:01.839 --> 00:29:03.839 the Exalted, said regarding the people of Salih: 00:29:03.839 --> 00:29:05.839 When they conspired, they hamstrung 00:29:05.839 --> 00:29:07.869 the she-camel. So look 00:29:07.869 --> 00:29:09.869 at how was the outcome 00:29:09.869 --> 00:29:11.869 of their conspiracy: that We 00:29:11.869 --> 00:29:13.869 destroyed them 00:29:13.869 --> 00:29:15.869 and their people, all together. 00:29:15.869 --> 00:29:17.869 So those are their houses, 00:29:17.869 --> 00:29:19.869 desolate 00:29:19.869 --> 00:29:21.869 because of what they wronged. 00:29:21.869 --> 00:29:23.869 Indeed, 00:29:23.869 --> 00:29:25.869 in that is a sign 00:29:25.869 --> 00:29:27.869 for a people 00:29:27.869 --> 00:29:30.160 who know. 00:29:30.160 --> 00:29:32.160 And Allah the Exalted said to Pharaoh 00:29:32.160 --> 00:29:34.160 at the time of his destruction: 00:29:34.160 --> 00:29:36.160 "So today We will save you in your body 00:29:36.160 --> 00:29:38.160 that you may of visitation 00:29:54.609 --> 00:29:56.609 and tourism for entertainment, 00:29:56.609 --> 00:29:58.609 that is the trait of the heedless 00:29:58.609 --> 00:30:00.609 and those who do not take a lesson 00:30:00.609 --> 00:30:02.670 from events. 00:30:02.670 --> 00:30:04.670 For the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed, 00:30:04.670 --> 00:30:06.670 with his Companions, 00:30:06.670 --> 00:30:08.670 by the dwellings of Salih 00:30:08.670 --> 00:30:10.670 during the expedition of Tabuk, 00:30:10.670 --> 00:30:12.670 and he said to them: 00:30:12.670 --> 00:30:14.670 "Do not enter the dwellings of those who wronged 00:30:14.670 --> 00:30:16.670 themselves, 00:30:16.670 --> 00:30:18.670 unless you are weeping, 00:30:18.670 --> 00:30:20.670 lest there befall you 00:30:20.670 --> for polytheism 00:30:49.119 --> 00:30:51.119 against Allah the Exalted. 00:30:51.119 --> 00:30:53.119 Therefore, the duty is not 00:30:53.119 --> 00:30:55.119 to celebrate them, 00:30:55.119 --> 00:30:57.119 but rather to remove and destroy them, 00:30:57.119 --> 00:30:59.119 to block the path to polytheism. 00:30:59.119 --> 00:31:01.119 Let us follow in this 00:31:01.119 --> 00:31:03.119 the Prophet of Allah, Ibrahim (peace be upon him), 00:31:03.119 --> 00:31:05.119 whom Allah made 00:31:05.119 --> 00:31:07.119 an Ummah, and commanded us 00:31:07.119 --> 00:31:09.250 to follow him. 00:31:09.250 --> 00:31:11.250 Allah the Exalted said: 00:31:11.250 --> 00:31:13.250 "Indeed, Ibrahim 00:31:13.250 --> 00:31:15.250 was an Ummah, 00:31:15.250 --> 00:31:17.250 obedient to Allah, 00:31:17.250 --> 00:31:19.250 inclining toward truth, 00:31:19.250 --> 00:31:21.250 inclining toward truth, 00:31:21.250 --> 00:31:23.250 and he was not of 00:31:23.250 --> 00:31:25.250 the polytheists, 00:31:25.250 --> 00:31:27.250 grateful 00:31:27.250 --> 00:31:29.250 for His favors. 00:31:29.250 --> 00:31:31.250 He chose him and guided him 00:31:31.250 --> 00:31:33.250 to a straight 00:31:33.250 --> 00:31:35.250 path." 00:31:35.250 --> 00:31:37.630 Then He said 00:31:37.630 --> 00:31:39.700 thereafter: 00:31:39.700 --> 00:31:41.700 "Then We revealed to you, 00:31:41.700 --> 00:31:43.700 [O Muhammad], to follow 00:31:43.700 --> 00:31:45.700 the religion of Ibrahim, 00:31:45.700 --> 00:31:47.700 inclining toward truth; 00:31:47.700 --> 00:31:49.700 and he was not of the polytheists." 00:31:51.700 --> 00:31:54.269 And Ibrahim (peace be upon him), 00:31:54.269 --> 00:31:56.269 when he saw his people 00:31:56.269 --> 00:31:58.269 worshipping idols, 00:31:58.269 --> 00:32:00.269 he destroyed them, leaving them 00:32:00.269 --> 00:32:02.269 in pieces—meaning small fragments. 00:32:02.269 --> 00:32:04.269 Leveling 00:32:04.269 --> 00:32:06.269 graves and destroying idols 00:32:06.269 --> 00:32:08.269 is what the Messenger (peace be upon him) 00:32:08.269 --> 00:32:10.269 commanded. 00:32:10.269 --> 00:32:12.269 For Ali Ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said 00:32:12.269 --> 00:32:14.269 to Abu al-Hayyaj al-Asadi: 00:32:14.269 --> 00:32:16.269 "Shall I not send you 00:32:16.269 --> 00:32:18.269 on the mission that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) 00:32:18.269 --> 00:32:20.269 sent me on? 00:32:20.269 --> 00:32:22.269 Do not leave 00:32:22.269 --> 00:32:24.299 any statue without effacing it, 00:32:24.299 --> 00:32:26.299 and do not the beginning of this 00:32:59.750 --> 00:33:01.750 Gregorian century, 00:33:01.750 --> 00:33:03.750 when the Taliban movement ruled 00:33:03.750 --> 00:33:05.750 Afghanistan for the first time, 00:33:05.750 --> 00:33:07.750 At that time, they destroyed the idols 00:33:07.750 --> 00:33:09.750 that were carved into the mountains, 00:33:09.750 --> 00:33:11.750 and the world rose up 00:33:11.750 --> 00:33:13.750 against them and did not settle. 00:33:13.750 --> 00:33:15.750 The United Nations denounced 00:33:15.750 --> 00:33:17.750 that action severely. 00:33:17.750 --> 00:33:19.750 When a delegation of Muslim 00:33:19.750 --> 00:33:21.750 scholars went there to investigate 00:33:21.750 --> 00:33:23.750 the matters, the Taliban movement 00:33:23.750 --> 00:33:25.750 clarified to them that these 00:33:25.750 --> 00:33:27.750 idols were truly being worshipped 00:33:27.750 --> 00:33:29.750 besides Allah by the common 00:33:29.750 --> 00:33:31.750 people, who would seek 00:33:31.750 --> 00:33:33.750 their needs from them 00:33:33.750 --> 00:33:35.750 and hang amulets upon the trees. 00:33:35.750 --> 00:33:37.750 At that point, the scholars did not 00:33:37.750 --> 00:33:39.750 denounce them, 00:33:39.750 --> 00:33:41.910 but rather supported their action. 00:33:41.910 --> 00:33:43.910 We only denounce the veneration 00:33:43.910 --> 00:33:45.910 of idols because it is 00:33:45.910 --> 00:33:47.910 a gateway to shirk, as we have previously mentioned, 00:33:47.910 --> 00:33:49.910 and for other reasons. 00:33:49.910 --> 00:33:51.910 For example, firstly: 00:33:51.910 --> 00:33:53.910 Worship is not 00:33:53.910 --> 00:33:55.910 limited to bowing, 00:33:55.910 --> 00:33:57.910 prostrating, and supplication. 00:33:57.910 --> 00:33:59.910 Exalting that which deserves to be debased 00:33:59.910 --> 00:34:01.910 is a form of worship. 00:34:01.910 --> 00:34:03.910 And is the placement of idols 00:34:03.910 --> 00:34:05.910 anything other than veneration 00:34:05.910 --> 00:34:08.230 and exaltation of them? 00:34:08.230 --> 00:34:10.230 Secondly: 00:34:10.230 --> 00:34:12.230 Even if we were to concede that these statues 00:34:12.230 --> 00:34:14.230 are human heritage, 00:34:14.230 --> 00:34:16.230 not every heritage is to be respected 00:34:16.230 --> 00:34:18.230 and exalted. 00:34:18.230 --> 00:34:20.230 The disbelievers did not worship their idols 00:34:20.230 --> 00:34:22.230 except because they were a heritage left behind 00:34:22.230 --> 00:34:24.230 by their fathers and forefathers, 00:34:24.230 --> 00:34:26.230 so they exalted and worshipped them. 00:34:26.230 --> 00:34:28.389 Thirdly: 00:34:28.389 --> 00:34:30.389 Exalting the means of shirk 00:34:30.389 --> 00:34:32.389 and the remnants of perished nations 00:34:32.389 --> 00:34:34.389 encourages visiting them 00:34:34.389 --> 00:34:36.389 and tourism toward them. 00:34:36.389 --> 00:34:38.389 We have been forbidden from entering 00:34:38.389 --> 00:34:40.389 the places of those who were punished, 00:34:40.389 --> 00:34:42.389 and we were commanded, if we are forced to enter them, 00:34:42.389 --> 00:34:44.389 to pass through them weeping 00:34:44.389 --> 00:34:46.389 and hastening, 00:34:46.389 --> 00:34:48.389 for fear that what befell them might befall us, 00:34:48.389 --> 00:34:50.389 as we have previously cited from the words 00:34:50.389 --> 00:34:52.389 of the Messenger, peace be upon him. 00:34:52.389 --> 00:34:54.519 Fourthly: 00:34:54.519 --> 00:34:56.519 And finally, 00:34:56.519 --> 00:34:58.519 we say to those who insist on exalting 00:34:58.519 --> 00:35:00.519 this heritage 00:35:00.519 --> 00:35:02.519 and claim it is a civilized act: 00:35:02.519 --> 00:35:04.519 Are you more knowledgeable, 00:35:04.519 --> 00:35:06.519 or is our Messenger, peace be upon him, 00:35:06.519 --> 00:35:08.519 when he sent 00:35:08.519 --> 00:35:10.519 Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, 00:35:10.519 --> 00:35:12.519 to destroy all of that? 00:35:12.519 --> 00:35:14.519 If they persist in this stubbornness 00:35:14.519 --> 00:35:16.519 and label the refusal to venerate 00:35:16.519 --> 00:35:18.519 these relics as cultural backwardness 00:35:18.519 --> 00:35:20.519 and rigid thinking, 00:35:20.519 --> 00:35:22.519 and insist on imitating 00:35:22.519 --> 00:35:24.519 the West in this regard, 00:35:24.519 --> 00:35:26.519 we refer them to what Austria did 00:35:26.519 --> 00:35:28.519 when it demolished Hitler’s house 00:35:28.519 --> 00:35:30.519 in July 00:35:30.519 --> 00:35:32.519 2016 AD, 00:35:32.519 --> 00:35:34.519 justifying it 00:35:34.519 --> 00:35:36.519 by stating that the far-right 00:35:36.519 --> 00:35:38.519 had made it a shrine 00:35:38.519 --> 00:35:40.519 that inspired their ideologies. 00:35:40.519 --> 00:35:42.519 Is Austria, then, Wahhabi 00:35:42.519 --> 00:35:44.550 or terrorist? 00:35:44.550 --> 00:35:46.550 Likewise, the Italians demolished 00:35:46.550 --> entitled 00:35:54.780 --> 00:35:56.780 to adhere to the laws of their religion, 00:35:56.780 --> 00:35:58.780 avoid shirk, and comply with the command of their Prophet? 00:35:58.780 --> 00:36:00.940 O Allah, 00:36:00.940 --> 00:36:02.940 guide the Ummah of Islam, 00:36:02.940 --> 00:36:04.940 and remove from it the state of alienation 00:36:04.940 --> 00:36:06.940 it has fallen into, 00:36:06.940 --> 00:36:08.940 which has reached the point where some boast 00:36:08.940 --> 00:36:10.940 of their affiliation with the jahiliyyah of their 00:36:10.940 --> 00:36:12.940 early ancestors, 00:36:12.940 --> 00:36:14.940 as some Egyptians do 00:36:14.940 --> 00:36:16.940 by calling themselves Pharaohs 00:36:16.940 --> 00:36:18.940 and taking pride in their civilization, 00:36:18.940 --> 00:36:20.940 even though Pharaoh 00:36:20.940 --> 00:36:22.940 was one of the greatest tyrants of the world. 00:36:22.940 --> 00:36:24.940 And likewise, 00:36:24.940 --> 00:36:26.940 some Palestinians 00:36:26.940 --> 00:36:28.940 claim affiliation with the Amalekites, 00:36:28.940 --> 00:36:30.940 or the people of 'Ad, 00:36:30.940 --> 00:36:32.940 and say, "We are the people 00:36:32.940 --> 00:36:34.940 of the giants," 00:36:34.940 --> 00:36:36.940 intending by that what was said about them 00:36:36.940 --> 00:36:38.940 by the Children of Israel to Musa, peace be upon him, 00:36:38.940 --> 00:36:40.940 when they were commanded to enter 00:36:40.940 --> 00:36:42.940 Jerusalem: 00:36:42.940 --> 00:36:44.940 “They said: O Moses! Lo! a giant people (dwell) therein and lo! we go not in till they go forth from thence.
