A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
The tribulation of distorting matters and calling things by names other than their own.
This is a blind tribulation in which those who follow falsehood present the truth in the guise of falsehood, and falsehood in the guise of truth.
They make the ugly appear beautiful and the beautiful appear ugly through cunning methods, adorning their speech and manipulating terminology.
This tribulation is the fulfillment of the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:
"Years of deceit will come upon the people."
"In them, the liar will be believed and the truthful one will be belied."
"The treacherous one will be trusted, and the trustworthy one will be betrayed."
"And the Ruwaybidah will speak regarding public affairs."
It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who are the Ruwaybidah?"
He replied, "The insignificant man who speaks on the affairs of the public."

Among the contemporary manifestations of distorting matters and misnaming things are the following:
Calling alcohol a "spiritual beverage."
Calling usury "interest."
Calling frivolous competitions "championships."
Calling the disbeliever "the other."
Calling the alteration of Allah’s creation "beautification."
Calling bribery a "gift."
Calling Muslim immigrants "foreigners."
Calling institutions of corruption "tourist entertainment."
Calling Shari'ah rulings "customs and traditions."
Calling the Ruwaybidah "Excellencies," "Your Highnesses," and "Your Eminences."
Calling unjust levies and financial extortions "taxes and customs duties."
Calling the mujahideen who resist occupiers "terrorists."
Calling degenerate celebrities "stars."
Calling the alteration of the foundations of the religion "the renewal of religious discourse."
Calling the enmity and hatred toward disbelievers "exclusionism" and "spreading hate."
Calling hypocrisy and sycophancy "wisdom," "pragmatism," and "love of peace."
Calling the resolutions of the Security Council and the International Court "international legitimacy."
Calling proselytization "evangelism," referring to Christians as "Nazarenes" (in a secularized sense), and Jews as "Israelis."
The corrupt themselves claiming to be reformers, while labeling the true reformers as corrupt.
Calling the commanding of good and forbidding of evil "interference in the affairs of others" and "sedition."
Justifying the abandonment of Shari'ah rulings and the fundamental tenets of the religion under the guise of "ease" and "necessity."
Validating the religions of the Jews and Christians under a new label they call "Abrahamism."
Labeling the sincere callers who support the doctrine of loyalty and disavowal for the sake of Allah as "extremists."
Restricting the definition of sexual harassment and adultery to cases of non-consent and rape.
Whereas if it is by consent, they claim it is neither harassment nor adultery.
