In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. A Gentle Commentary on the book "Identification Cards" with Images of the Noble Qur'an by Dr. Muhammad ibn Abdul Aziz ibn Omar Al-Nassif, may Allah protect him. Surah Al-Layl (The Night) Surah Al-Layl. We have proceeded with the Gentle Commentary on the identification cards and with Surah Al-Layl, and with it, three sections. The first pause is with the placement of the Surah. Where it mentioned its connection to the sun. The connection in the names: this is "The Night" and this is "The Sun." But we want to delve deeper. What are these times? And what are these creations that Allah swore by at the beginnings of some surahs, and entire surahs were named after them? "The Night," "The Sun," and others from what was named. And why were they singled out for naming? To what extent can we benefit from the night in knowing Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He? In increasing our faith? This is a matter worthy of attention. For Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, swore by it. We need to reflect on it. How much wisdom, lessons, and signs are there in the night? So I ask Allah to make us among those who pay attention to such things. This is a magnificent verse: "The Night." As for the second pause, it is with what was alluded to regarding the reasons for the Surah's revelation. And it is the reason that shines with the freeing of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq of some Companions who were oppressed and tortured. So it is mentioned in the reasons for revelation. And the reason helps in approximately dating the revelation of the latter part of the Surah, or perhaps the entire Surah, as it is short, but specifically for the latter part of the Surah. The period of the believers' oppression. When did it begin? When did it end? When did this persecution occur? This entire matter can be a subject of research and consideration. And I call upon specialists in the Prophetic biography (Seerah) or the Sunnah in general to pay attention to analyzing such an issue, which will help in approximately dating many verses of the Noble Qur'an. And as for the third and final pause, it is with the theme of the Surah. The Surah clarifies the diversity of people's endeavors in this world and their fate in the Hereafter. A wondrous diversity in this world and a determined fate in the Hereafter. And observe the comprehensiveness within brevity. "Indeed, your efforts are diverse." This is a comprehensive statement for humanity, but then it narrowed down all people to two paths: "As for him who gives and fears Allah and believes in the best reward, We will make smooth for him the way of ease." "But as for him who is greedy and feels himself self-sufficient, and denies the best reward, We will make smooth for him the way of hardship." Are people truly in two groups? Yes. And yet, within each group are subgroups and levels. Not all those who believe in the best reward are on the same level of belief, nor those who deny it. And similarly, people are not on one level in giving and fearing Allah. And so on, as mentioned. This is among the wonders of the Qur'an: that it is comprehensive. No one falls outside of this. And yet, it is extremely concise. It depicts for you the scattered efforts, which are in various directions, and reduces them to two matters. And these classifications are a blessing from Allah upon us: concise texts or words with which you can interpret all of life and know where you are and where you are heading. I ask Allah to make our path easy and to keep us away from hardship, and to benefit us with this noble Surah. May Allah bless our Prophet Muhammad, and his family and all his Companions.
