A verse and its Tafsir.
Allah the Exalted says:
“And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son,” (18:4)
The intended meaning here refers to the polytheists.
Those who claim that the angels are the daughters of Allah.
And they said, "The Most Merciful has taken a son."
Rather, they are honored servants.
The intended meaning is not the Christians.
Those who said, "The Messiah is the son of Allah."
This is because the Meccan Qur'an did not address the refutation of the People of the Scripture.
