00:00:21.820 --> 00:00:24.539 To be raised in a righteous home. 00:00:24.539 --> 00:00:26.940 between two righteous parents. 00:00:27.300 --> 00:00:32.820 Or that Allah prepares for her someone who will raise her from a young age in obedience to Allah. 00:00:32.820 --> 00:00:35.619 from her brothers or sisters 00:00:35.619 --> 00:00:38.829 Or one whom Allah employs for its sake. 00:00:38.829 --> 00:00:40.590 And this is a blessing. 00:00:40.590 --> 00:00:44.710 Only the intelligent and perceptive young woman truly benefits from it. 00:00:44.710 --> 00:00:49.240 The one with the pure, sincere, and righteous inner self. 00:00:49.240 --> 00:00:51.679 We have witnessed in this present time 00:00:51.679 --> 00:00:56.469 Whoever is granted this blessing through the success bestowed by Allah. 00:00:56.590 --> 00:01:00.630 Yet she rebels against them under the pretext of freedom. 00:01:00.630 --> 00:01:04.230 which the ideas of feminism advocate. 00:01:04.230 --> 00:01:06.989 And those who of happiness that only those who have tasted it can truly understand. 00:01:42.640 --> 00:01:46.000 And Maryam, daughter of ‘Imran, peace be upon her. 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:51.620 Those for whom Allah has prepared a righteous environment in which to be nurtured. 00:01:51.620 --> 00:01:56.379 For she is from a household that Allah has exalted above all the worlds. 00:01:56.379 --> 00:02:00.260 And she was raised in the house of a prophet from among the prophets of Allah. 00:02:00.260 --> 00:02:04.010 They were among a righteous people. 00:02:04.010 --> 00:02:07.609 And it was decreed by Allah that she would be born an orphan. 00:02:07.609 --> 00:02:11.969 And to complete yet another of Allah’s blessings upon the young woman. 00:02:11.969 --> 00:02:17.729 This is understood by those who have studied the Prophetic biography and the way Allah cared for the orphans. 00:02:17.770 --> 00:02:21.210 And reflect, noble sister, upon the words of Allah the Exalted: 00:02:21.210 --> 00:02:26.849 In enumerating the blessings bestowed by Allah upon our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:02:26.849 --> 00:02:32.699 Where He said, "Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter?" 00:02:32.699 --> 00:02:37.740 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, encouraged the sponsorship of orphans. 00:02:37.740 --> 00:02:42.259 He then explained its merit and the reward for it in the Hereafter, stating: 00:02:42.259 --> 00:02:46.419 The one who cares for an orphan and I will be in Paradise like this. 00:02:46.419 --> 00:02:50.139 And he gestured with his index and middle fingers. 00:02:50.139 --> 00:02:52.659 It was recorded by al-Bukhari. 00:02:52.659 --> 00:02:56.340 Such is the immense reward for the guardianship of an orphan. 00:02:56.340 --> 00:03:00.620 This indicates the gravity of the responsibility inherent in this guardianship. 00:03:00.620 --> 00:03:04.780 And sponsorship is not limited to a mere few dinars. 00:03:04.780 --> 00:03:10.460 It is provided by the sponsor to a charitable organization that collects funds for orphans. 00:03:10.460 --> 00:03:14.020 Then, he remains completely unaware of the orphan's needs. 00:03:14.060 --> 00:03:20.819 Indeed, the sponsorship for which the reward is Paradise, in the company of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:03:20.819 --> 00:03:24.409 Its significance is far greater than that. 00:03:24.409 --> 00:03:27.650 Sponsorship, therefore, entails both upbringing and care. 00:03:27.650 --> 00:03:30.330 And attending to the interests of the orphan. 00:03:30.330 --> 00:03:34.009 And to manage his wealth and ensure its growth. 00:03:34.009 --> 00:03:39.580 and maintaining them, and spending upon the orphan, unless the matter is decreed otherwise. 00:03:39.580 --> 00:03:45.460 This meaning was clear to the righteous people during the time of Maryam, daughter of 'Imran. 00:03:45.460 --> 00:03:48.819 And for that reason, they competed with one another to take charge of her care. 00:03:48.819 --> 00:03:53.099 Who among them will attain this reward and immense recompense? 00:03:53.099 --> 00:03:54.939 Allah the Exalted says: 00:03:54.939 --> 00:04:03.139 That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you. 00:04:03.139 --> 00:04:08.259 “This is of the tidings of things hidden. We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad). Thou wast not present with them when they threw their pens (to know) which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou present with them when they quarrelled (thereupon).” (3:44) 00:04:08.259 --> 00:04:13.180 Which of them shall take charge of Maryam? 00:04:13.180 --> 00:04:18.220 “This is of the tidings of things hidden. We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad). We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad). Thou wast not present with them when they threw their pens (to know) which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou present with them when they quarrelled (thereupon).” (3:44) 00:06:03.819 --> 00:06:08.500 That pure and saintly woman was thus under the care of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:06:08.500 --> 00:06:11.220 And she was raised in the cradle of Prophethood. 00:06:11.220 --> 00:06:16.100 So that she and her son might be a sign for all the worlds. 00:06:16.100 --> 00:06:19.699 And the guardianship of the Prophet of Allah, Zakariyya, over Maryam. 00:06:19.699 --> 00:06:23.060 He arranged for her to be raised in the house of Prophethood. 00:06:23.060 --> 00:06:30.269 And you should take from the character and worship of the noble Prophet Zakariyya, peace be upon him. 00:06:30.269 --> 00:06:33.629 Al-Tahir Ibn 'Ashur, may Allah have mercy on him, stated: 00:06:33.670 --> 00:06:36.110 And Zakariyya took her into his care. 00:06:36.110 --> 00:06:39.149 Count this among the virtues of Maryam. 00:06:39.149 --> 00:06:42.670 For it is among the factors that increase its merit. 00:06:42.670 --> 00:06:48.420 For the father’s upbringing of his child secures the child’s character and righteousness through the one who raised him. 00:06:48.420 --> 00:06:51.139 Al-Sa'di, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:06:51.139 --> 00:06:57.779 So her Lord accepted her with a gracious acceptance and caused her to grow in a beautiful manner. 00:06:57.819 --> 00:07:00.740 Indeed, I was raised in a truly remarkable manner. 00:07:00.740 --> 00:07:04.139 Religious, ethical, and literary. 00:07:04.139 --> 00:07:06.540 Through it, her states were perfected. 00:07:06.540 --> 00:07:09.939 And through it, her words and deeds were rectified. 00:07:09.939 --> 00:07:12.699 And He nurtured its perfection within it. 00:07:12.699 --> 00:07:16.459 And Allah facilitated for her Zakariyya as a guardian. 00:07:16.459 --> 00:07:19.740 This is among the favors of Allah bestowed upon the servant. 00:07:19.740 --> 00:07:25.579 That he should ensure those who oversee his upbringing are among the spiritually perfected and the righteous. 00:07:25.620 --> 00:07:28.500 Here, a question naturally presents itself. 00:07:28.500 --> 00:07:32.579 Why did the people compete with one another to take charge of Maryam? 00:07:32.579 --> 00:07:34.100 The answer is as follows: 00:07:34.100 --> 00:07:41.019 For they all understood that a young woman is in need of a man who will protect and care for her. 00:07:41.019 --> 00:07:45.490 Even if this young woman were Maryam, peace be upon her. 00:07:45.490 --> 00:07:48.290 Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:07:48.290 --> 00:07:50.089 Such is Maryam. 00:07:50.089 --> 00:07:53.569 She was in need of someone to provide for her and take her into their care. 00:07:53.569 --> 00:07:56.649 until they hastened to take her into their care. 00:07:56.649 --> 00:07:59.490 So how, then, could it be any different for other women? 00:07:59.490 --> 00:08:02.649 This is a matter well-established through experience. 00:08:02.649 --> 00:08:08.649 A woman requires a level of protection and safeguarding that a young boy does not. 00:08:08.649 --> 00:08:11.689 And whatever is more concealing and modest for her is more correct. 00:08:11.689 --> 00:08:13.810 It was more beneficial for her. 00:08:13.810 --> 00:08:16.649 It is for this reason that her prescribed attire was as follows: 00:08:16.649 --> 00:08:18.769 A garment that covers her. 00:08:18.769 --> 00:08:22.649 And he cursed those who wear the clothing of men. 00:08:22.689 --> 00:08:24.290 It is among a man’s duties 00:08:24.290 --> 00:08:28.209 He should look into the circumstances of the young woman under his care. 00:08:28.209 --> 00:08:31.889 And he seeks clarification regarding whatever he finds difficult to understand concerning its affairs. 00:08:31.889 --> 00:08:36.039 Just as Zakariyya did with Maryam, peace be upon them both. 00:08:36.039 --> 00:08:38.019 Allah the Exalted says: 00:08:38.019 --> 00:08:42.580 “And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found that she had food. He said: O Mary! Whence cometh unto thee this (food)? She answered: It is from Allah. Allah giveth without stint to whom He will.” (3:37) 00:08:42.580 --> 00:08:50.340 And He caused her to grow in a beautiful manner. 00:08:50.340 --> 00:08:53.019 And Zakariyya took her into his care. 00:08:53.019 --> 00:08:57.419 “And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found that she had food. He said: O Mary! Whence cometh unto thee this (food)? She answered: It is from Allah. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found that she had food. He said: O Mary! Whence cometh unto thee this (food)? She answered: It is from Allah. Allah giveth without stint to whom He will.” (3:37) 00:10:34.440 --> 00:10:38.840 This means that the provision of Allah is vast and not restricted by any limit. 00:10:38.840 --> 00:10:41.320 Nor is there any measure for what has been decreed. 00:10:41.320 --> 00:10:44.120 Therefore, He is beyond the limits of calculation. 00:10:44.120 --> 00:10:48.659 Nor do the numbers that reach an end apply to Him. 00:10:48.659 --> 00:10:54.659 It is not appropriate for a young woman to feel annoyed by her guardian checking on her affairs. 00:10:54.659 --> 00:10:58.059 Rather, it is her duty to rejoice in that. 00:10:58.059 --> 00:11:03.990 For this act of checking in is evidence of the guardian’s care and concern for her. 00:11:03.990 --> 00:11:10.299 Yet, what was the provision that used to come to Maryam, peace be upon her? 00:11:10.340 --> 00:11:13.899 We shall continue in a future session, if Allah wills. 00:11:13.899 --> 00:11:16.899 And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
