The Garden of Guidance
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
﴾Those who break the covenant of Allah after its ratification, and sever what Allah has ordered to be joined, and cause corruption in the earth—it is they who are the losers.﴿
And on the authority of 'Abdullah Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both,
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
"The one who maintains ties of kinship is not the one who merely reciprocates,
but rather the one who, when his ties of kinship are severed, restores them."

A Point of Benefit:
Indeed, it is striking
that causing corruption in the earth is mentioned immediately following the severing of kinship ties.
And that—Allah knows best—
is because severing ties tears apart the bonds of close relatives,
fragments the nucleus of society, which is the family and the extended household,
and stifles all means of peaceful coexistence with others
where individuals might enjoy the freedom to practice the rites of religion;
furthermore, it is an invitation to wars and conflicts
resulting from the hatred born of such alienation.
