Pause and acquaint yourself with the Companions, the scholars, and the eminent figures of our tradition.
A new challenge: who am I?
I am among the younger Companions and the cousin of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
And he is similar to him among the people.
My mother is Umm al-Fadl, Lubaba bint al-Harith al-Hilaliyya.
She was the first woman to embrace Islam after Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her.
My mother saw in a dream as if a part of the body of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was in our house.
She was deeply distressed by that.
So she came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
So I mentioned that to him.
He then spoke well.
Fatimah gave birth to a boy.
So you shall nurse him with the milk of this son of yours.
Then Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, gave birth to al-Hasan.
So my mother gave him to her, and she nursed him.
For I am the foster brother of al-Hasan Ibn 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, once had me ride behind him.
I used to play with ‘Abdullah ibn Ja‘far, may Allah be pleased with him.
When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, passed by an animal.
He then gestured toward Ibn Ja'far.
He said, "Carry this to me."
So place it in front of him.
Then he gestured toward me and said
Convey this to me.
So place me behind him.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered Makkah on the day of the Conquest.
In the eighth year after the Hijrah.
He then seated me in front of him upon his mount.
And he, the possessor of virtue, followed behind him.
And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was
I am united with my brothers.
He would then spread his hands, extend them, and say:
Whoever reaches me first shall receive such and such a reward.
We used to race toward the embrace of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
And among the ways in which Allah has honored me
I was the last of the people to have been in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
For she participated in washing him and burying him.
And I was the youngest among those who descended into his grave.
And I was the last one to ascend it.
For I was the last person to part from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in this world.
So, who am I?
