The consequences of the Incident of the Slander (al-Ifk) serve as an example of the Sunnah of Allah intending good for the believers.
Among the practical examples illustrating this Sunnah:
Mentioning the aspects of good that resulted from the Incident of the Slander.
Among these are:
First:
The attainment by the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
And his chaste and pure wife, the Mother of the Believers, ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her,
And her father, the Truthful (al-Siddiq), may Allah be pleased with him,
Of a great reward.
This is the recompense for their patience regarding the harm they suffered from this slander and fabrication.
Second:
The emergence of the false accusation into the open.
This prevented the accusation from remaining hidden in the hearts of some,
And the resulting skepticism toward the religion
That would have arisen from whispering slanders against its carriers.
Third:
The revelation of the verses following the story of the Slander,
Which exonerated Lady ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her.
This was a great honor for her and for the family of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him,
As they were distinguished by verses praising them that will be recited until the Day of Resurrection.
Fourth:
Another aspect of this honor is
That the revelation of these verses became a defining marker in the matters of disbelief and faith.
For anyone who slanders Lady ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, regarding the Slander
Becomes a disbeliever for denying verses from the Noble Qur’an.
Fifth:
The delay of revelation in responding to the story of the Slander for an entire month
Provides evidence that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not possess knowledge of the unseen.
For had he known, he would have announced the innocence of his wife from the very beginning,
Without the harm and suffering he endured from the slanders against her, may Allah be pleased with her.
Thus, it is forbidden for Muslims to exaggerate regarding the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
Or to claim that he possessed knowledge of the unseen.
