Stop. Get to know the Companions, the scholars, and the prominent figures. A new challenge: Who am I? I am one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him. I embraced Islam in the ninth year after the Hijrah. I witnessed the Battle of Tabuk. I was among the poor Muslims of the Suffah. I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. I prayed the dawn prayer with him. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to, upon finishing the prayer, turn to face his Companions. When he drew near to me, he did not recognize me and said, "Who are you?" I informed him. He said, "What brings you here?" I said, "I have come to pledge my allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "On the condition of what you love and what you dislike?" I said, "Yes." So I embraced Islam and pledged my allegiance. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was preparing for Tabuk. I had nothing to carry me. I began to call out, "Who will carry me, and in return, he shall have my share of the spoils?" Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, may Allah be pleased with him, called me and said, "I will carry you, taking turns by night and taking turns by day. Your hand shall be equal to mine, and your share shall be mine." I said, "Yes." So we set out. May Allah reward him with goodness. He would carry me for my turn and even more. I would eat with him, and he would set aside food for me. When the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent Khalid ibn al-Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, to Ukaydir al-Kindi in Dumat al-Jandal, I went out with him. We were victorious. I obtained six young she-camels. I brought them to Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah and said, "Come out and look at your she-camels." Ka'b came out smiling and said, "May Allah bless you. I did not carry you wanting to take anything from you." The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, came to us one day while we were sitting in the Suffah, and hunger had left its mark upon us. He said, "How will you be when you are satiated with wheat bread and olive oil, and you eat various kinds of food, and you wear various kinds of clothing? Are you better today, or will you be better then?" We said, "That day will be better." He said, "Rather, you are better today." Time passed, and we eventually ate various kinds of food, wore various kinds of clothing, and rode various mounts. So, who am I? Share your answers with us in the comments below the video. We will pin the correct answer in the comments when the next episode is released, if Allah wills.
