Stop and learn about the companions, scholars and notables A new challenge from me I am one of the major companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, among the Ansar and those close to him I was a merchant known for his heroism and horsemanship since pre-Islamic times And now the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was in Medina when he set out in the Great Battle of Badr Then the reward and spoils were divided for me, and so I was numbered among the Badrians I witnessed all the scenes with him after that After the end of the Battle of the Trench, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, headed with three thousand Muslims to Banu Qurayda Those who broke their covenants and conspired with the parties against Muslims A siege was imposed on them, and after several days they surrendered But they wanted to consult with one of the Muslims So they sent to him, may God bless him and grant him peace, and asked him to send me to them for consultation I was their servant before Islam, and my money and my children were in their area When they saw me, the men came to me and brought the women and children on my way, crying in my face So I felt sad for them, then they said to me: Do you think we should follow the rule of Muhammad? I said yes, but I pointed with my hand to my throat as a sign of slaughter, meaning that you will slaughter Then I immediately realized that I had betrayed God and His Messenger, and I was horrified by what I had done So I left them quickly and did not return to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace Until I came to the mosque and tied myself to a pole there and swore that my ties would not be untied Except the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, with his hand When the news reached the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, he said, “If he had come to me, I would have forgiven him.” But since he did what he did, I am not the one who released him from his place Until God repents to him I was tied to the mast for six nights My woman comes every prayer time So my prayer ties are loosened So I pray, then come back and attach myself to the mast And so on Until Umm Salamah, may God be pleased with her, heard one night of magic The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, laughing She said: Why are you laughing, O Messenger of God? So give her good news of God’s repentance towards me Umm Salamah said: Shall I not give him good tidings, O Messenger of God? He said, “Yes, if you wish.” So she stood at the door of her room, may God be pleased with her She told me to give good news, for God has forgiven you And God Almighty revealed in his saying Others confessed their sins They did a good deed Another bad one May God forgive them God is Forgiving and Merciful People rushed to release me I said no, by God Until he is the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace It is He who releases me by His hand When the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by me He was going out to the morning prayer Untie me and release me This pole is still known in the Prophet’s Mosque to this day It bears my name as a witness to the sincerity of my repentance Who am I?
