00:01:22.870 --> 00:01:24.870 And disputes do happen, 00:01:24.870 --> 00:01:26.870 across different trends, factions, 00:01:26.870 --> 00:01:28.870 groups, ideas, and doctrines. 00:01:28.870 --> 00:01:31.730 Therefore, it is essential, 00:01:31.730 --> 00:01:34.730 when clarifying the truth and refuting someone in error, 00:01:34.730 --> 00:01:36.730 that a person be keen 00:01:36.730 --> 00:01:38.730 to keep 00:01:38.730 --> 00:01:42.629 their speech free from obscenity and foul language. 00:01:42.629 --> 00:01:44.629 If that is the standard toward a disbeliever, 00:01:44.629 --> 00:01:46.629 then doing so toward a mistaken Muslim 00:01:46.629 --> 00:01:50.099 is all the more warranted. 00:01:50.099 --> 00:01:52.260 The second reflection 00:01:52.260 --> 00:01:54.260 is with an insight in the verse 00:01:54.260 --> 00:01:56.260 or in the surah: 00:01:56.260 --> 00:01:59.260 namely, that Abu Lahab was the uncle of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:01:59.260 --> 00:02:02.290 Thus, he was of the most noble lineage among people. 00:02:02.290 --> 00:02:04.319 The one of the most perfect lineage among all people is the Prophet, peace be upon him, 00:02:04.319 --> 00:02:06.319 and among those of the most noble lineage 00:02:06.319 --> 00:02:08.319 are the Banu Hashim, who are 00:02:08.319 --> 00:02:10.319 from Quraysh, which is 00:02:10.319 --> 00:02:12.319 the best of the Arabs; they are the elite of the elite. 00:02:12.319 --> 00:02:14.479 This is the general ruling, 00:02:14.479 --> 00:02:16.479 but disbelief 00:02:16.479 --> 00:02:18.680 renders no lineage of any benefit. 00:02:18.680 --> 00:02:20.680 This close kinship to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:02:20.680 --> 00:02:22.740 did not benefit 00:02:22.740 --> 00:02:25.030 Abu Lahab, 00:02:25.030 --> 00:02:27.830 because he chose the path of disbelief. 00:02:27.830 --> 00:02:29.830 The third and final reflection 00:02:29.830 --> 00:02:31.830 concerns his wife. 00:02:31.830 --> 00:02:34.280 Note 00:02:34.280 --> 00:02:36.280 a matter that may confuse us 00:02:36.280 --> 00:02:38.949 when we are eager 00:02:38.949 --> 00:02:41.139 to maintain a relationship, 00:02:41.139 --> 00:02:44.069 regardless of the soundness of that relationship. 00:02:44.069 --> 00:02:46.069 Abu Lahab's wife 00:02:46.069 --> 00:02:48.069 remained his wife, and he remained her husband; 00:02:48.069 --> 00:02:50.199 they remained loving toward each other, 00:02:50.199 --> 00:02:52.199 cooperating with one another, 00:02:52.199 --> 00:02:54.199 sharing a single objective. 00:02:54.199 --> 00:02:56.550 Yet their end 00:02:56.550 --> 00:02:59.729 was that they are both in the Fire. 00:02:59.729 --> 00:03:01.729 Imagine the extent of abhorrence and hatred 00:03:01.729 --> 00:03:03.729 that will exist between them in that place! 00:03:03.729 --> 00:03:05.729 We ask Allah for safety. 00:03:05.729 --> 00:03:07.860 So what matters is not 00:03:07.860 --> 00:03:10.180 the mere continuation of a relationship; 00:03:10.180 --> 00:03:12.180 rather, what matters is 00:03:12.180 --> 00:03:14.439 the soundness of the relationship. 00:03:14.439 --> 00:03:16.439 Corrupt relationships are not in your interest to maintain. 00:03:16.439 --> 00:03:19.169 "Close friends..." 00:03:19.169 --> 00:03:21.169 and these are those 00:03:21.169 --> 00:03:23.169 at the highest level 00:03:23.169 --> 00:03:25.780 of companionship, 00:03:25.780 --> 00:03:27.780 such that it is said that the intimate friend (khalil) is the one whose love has permeated 00:03:27.780 --> 00:03:29.780 deep into your heart. 00:03:29.780 --> 00:03:31.780 "Close friends on that Day 00:03:31.780 --> 00:03:34.199 will be enemies to one another." 00:03:34.199 --> 00:03:36.199 Even if their relationship persisted in this worldly life 00:03:36.199 --> 00:03:38.229 and was as good as it could possibly be, 00:03:38.229 --> 00:03:40.229 as the saying goes, 00:03:40.229 --> 00:03:42.419 nevertheless, 00:03:42.419 --> 00:03:44.419 "will be enemies to one another, except the righteous." 00:03:44.419 --> 00:03:46.800 This relationship turned into enmity because it was 00:03:46.800 --> 00:03:48.800 corrupt and not founded upon 00:03:48.800 --> 00:03:50.800 piety; it turned into 00:03:50.800 --> 00:03:52.800 hostility. Therefore, be keen on 00:03:52.800 --> 00:03:54.960 maintaining a relationship 00:03:54.960 --> 00:03:57.000 only if it is righteous. 00:03:57.000 --> 00:03:59.000 As for relationships that bring about 00:03:59.000 --> 00:04:01.000 regret on the Day of Judgment, 00:04:01.000 --> 00:04:03.000 you must either rectify them 00:04:03.000 --> 00:04:05.379 or sever them. 00:04:05.379 --> 00:04:07.379 And Allah knows best. 00:04:07.379 --> 00:04:09.379 May the blessings and mercy of Allah be upon you, 00:04:09.379 --> 00:04:11.379 and upon all his family and Companions. 00:04:11.379 --> 00:04:13.379 And praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
