Privacy Policy

budoorzahera — this website and the Android app — offers audio and written Hadith lessons in sixteen languages. No account and no sign-in are needed to use either. This page sets out exactly what we collect, what we do not, and what never leaves your device.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, no sign-in, no user profiles.
- No ads and no Advertising ID — the app never requests it.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
- No access to contacts, messages, location, camera or microphone.
What we do collect
- Contact form (entirely optional): if you send a message we store the name, email and message text solely to reply to you.
- Listen counter: a plain total per lesson, tied neither to you nor to your device, used for the "most listened" list.
- Standard server logs: IP address and request time, kept for security and abuse prevention only.
What stays on your device alone
- Downloaded lessons are saved to your device’s public Downloads folder — yours to open, copy or delete.
- Favourites, interface language, your last listening position and playback settings are all stored locally.
- The in-app error log stays on your device and reaches us only if you copy and send it yourself.
- None of this is uploaded to our servers.
Third parties
- Some audio is hosted on the Internet Archive (archive.org), which therefore sees your IP address when you play or download it.
- Website pages load fonts from Google Fonts.
- The app is distributed and updated through Google Play, governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
- We never sell your data or share it for marketing.
Permissions the app requests
- Internet: to load lessons, transcripts and audio.
- Notifications: to show playback controls and download progress.
- Foreground service (media playback and data sync): so listening and downloading continue after you leave the app.
- Wake lock and a short vibration: to keep playback steady, and for a light tap on navigation.
- External storage (Android 9 and older only): to save downloads into the Downloads folder.
Notifications
- The playback notification appears while you listen and carries a stop button that ends playback and clears it entirely.
- The download notification shows series download progress only.
- The daily Hadith notification is optional, off by default, and can be turned off at any time from the menu screen.
Children
- The content is for a general audience and suitable for all ages; we do not knowingly collect any data about children.
Deleting your data
- Downloads: remove them from the "My downloads" screen in the app, or straight from the Downloads folder.
- Everything stored locally is erased by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it.
- To delete a contact message you have already sent, write to us through the contact page and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
- We update this page whenever something in the app or the site changes; the date above always reflects the latest revision.
